'As this week, that has been great for Virman, comes to an end, just typing out a few thoughts on Virat Singh Vadhera.
We all tend to see our stories from the point of view of a particular character, usually its done so subconsciously that we fail to notice this. This character usually is the one you most relate to, sometimes its the one you like the most or at other times the one you aspire to be.
I tend to look at the story of EHMMBH from the POV of Manvi. So, usually I feel for her character more than others. This week however Virat really made me take note of his character and the more I thought, the more I felt for him.
We know Manvi's life got complicated after she was diagonised with Cancer..and she has been through much in life, being an orphan, separating from her sister post marriage, the various situations she got into with the Vadhera's especially with Swamini bua..!
However, think about Virat's life for a second. Here is a boy, who is always the underdog in the family, the second best, the troublemaker, the son usually cast aside..
Virat was never the rigid rule-follower and in a family where you do not get breakfast if you dont reach dot on time, he was truly the outcast. Virat probably takes after his dad (Who Viren once mentioned in passing as being a rebel too).. whom he lost when young. He has a brilliant brother who followed the family tradition without any dissent, in fact he was happy doing so. He, however had the gift to sing, imagine the irony, a singer - an artist, in a family of lawyers. Its only right to suspect that dadaji was not too pleased to see someone diverge from the tradition. He rebelled, left home, went to London to make a career in music, fell in love and life was good.
This was until ofcourse, the girl dumps him. (Did she steal his music too? ) Heartbroken and lost, he swears never to sing again. He comes back to the fold, the same rule-following place that he couldn't wait to get out of. He tries to recover the broken heart and spirit in a place where he is constantly pointed out as a failure in life. Somewhere he starts believing it himself.
That's when he comes across a girl who would fully and truly be his match. They are not the classic case of opposites attract, in fact they are birds of the same feather, and as expected, even though there is initial friction, they do flock together. She is a kindred spirit and he recognises it early. Even when he fights with her, he helps her, even when he calls her names, he respects her. She completes his life in a way he doesn't realise yet. As they struggle together in a world made of rules, 2 rebels trying to make a path of their own. He imbibes her spirit and zest for life, he truly begins to admire her, even doesnt know when she truly became his partner. Was it when he stood upto his family for her multiple times- during the wedding, during Chachu's case ? Was it when she made him forget his past and embrace the present?
Just when things seem to be finally falling into place for Virat, his past comes back to haunt him. Maya, the one with whom he had hoped for a future but had left him shattered, was back to win him back. As his luck would have it, his bua and his best friend transpires to get her together with him. The more Manvi helps Maya, the more he falls for the projected image of Maya, which is nothing but in true essence manvi. He gets back with her only to realise, it was a mistake, his best friend had betrayed him. Heartbroken again, not at breaking up with his girlfriend but at the shattered trust in his partner.
Like a saviour yet again his brother makes him think about his feelings for his partner, it doesnt take long for him to realise that what he had started feeling for a long time now, is nothing but his love for his best friend. He waits not a moment more as he rushes off to finally confesses his feelings to her.
He finds her, confesses to her, only to see her faint in his arms. As he is on the verge of confessing a second time, he suffers a huge setback in terms of the huge loss he causes the family of the girl he loves. A simple mistake, but a costly one. Ridden with guilt, he can only seek her forgivance. She is in no mood to forgive him either.
Things are only going to get more complicated for Virat, the girl he loves will call him a spoilt brat who is good for nothing. Even worse, the girl he is in love with suffers from a potentially fatal disease!
To think about it, his life could've been simple, he is a singer, who does not fall for the wrong girl, comes across the right one, they become friends, then turn lovers, the biggest hurdle maybe his bua, but hello, he would still find it easy enough to convince everyone after all she is his bhabhi ki behna. Things in life are never that simple, are they? In fact Virat wouldn't be Virat without the incidents that changed his life.
Tough times ahead for Virat Singh Vadhera..For an easy go lucky guy, life has indeed been anything but easy!
