Arey, ni I seriously meant that apology, mera roz ka kaam hai, I'll like get done watching and stomp off straight to your previous day thread to stalk/ask for new one 😆 adat se majbur... 🤓
So anyway - I did enjoy the episode as a whole, like I said on the last thread too. I guess one reason was - as Mash said - knowing Mohan wasn't going to rise upto his feet anytime soon; the other and the more important one has to be that yesterday was severely underwhelming and filler-ish for me, and the precap had put me on a lower rung yet about what to expect today - so fresh sequences in terms of humor alone definitely lived up for me. Let's just say the Mohan Addu scenes for all their fun till today had been something on the back burner for me. Like very fun, but still, nothing to make an episode content rich. So when they occupied the kind of space and track as they did today, they kinda worked like an underdog win for me. And between very bleh expectations and a pleasant surprise, I sailed fine today.
That said - absolutely agree with not really understanding the point of taking this drama so far. I kinda want to go all the way back to when the first promos and articles about Rashmi were out, and I'd speculated about Mohan's reaction to Megha's posing. I remember thinking very vividly, how when you think of the big picture, it's actually a pretty backfiring kind of resolution. And I remember thinking Mohan at some point, sooner than later, would bring down the curtains, because given the character he's been so far, there just has to be a short fuse to his putting up such acts. I remember saying how when you think about it - what they're putting for "real" at some level should actually be a thought invoking fact - why DOES Mohan need to pretend anything at all, right?! For Rashmi's convenience? Like Mohan said to Guru yesterday - ye koi competition to nahi hai, I mean fine, Rashmi is going to be doubly convinced that she left a loser - so what, who is she to matter, right?! But like Guru replied back - it's not so simple practically, as it seems on paper.
But - point still remains - I really expect Mohan to sort of bring that line of argument in at some point. How the act, even if it fends for him for the while, and entertains the audience in its garb, IS technically establishing very little. The outcome has to be reviving a Mohan who CAN stand up to Rashmi and tell her to her face that their split has possibly been his best unintended stroke of luck when he looks back at things in retrospect. But until that happens, it's being in limbo of hoping the daily doze of comedy will serve well, but more or less shrugging off the significance of such an extended act.
Khair - taking one day of fun at a time and briefly suspending seeking out that big picture logic - I did enjoy today quite a lot. And if "entertainment" is ALL they are focusing on this week with these new characters, the least they need to ascertain is giving us more like today, and nothing like yesterday.
To the fun bits - you pretty much said it all 😆
@Megha's occasional come backs - meh. Too preachy. And like some before me already said, the whole India vs the West debate seriously makes me roll eyes. Apart from teh most cliche debate on any Indian show ever, it just unnecessarily stereotypes people into two strict categories of black and white - which is plain lame. Rashmi's mother's character toh is SUCH a major turnoff, that it actually makes Rashmi's redundancy fade out by far in comparison. her fiance, like I said on the other thread - such a damn doll. Nanhi might as well play doll dressing and hair styling with him 🥱 Except, Nanhi beyond the usual 8 year olds is probably too mature for the lot of these 3 wannabes ... My greater ruse definitely lies in making Megha preachy in response to all their typical cheap shots. While everyone wants Mohan back to his vintage self, I also ask - where is Megha from the super mart?
Anyway. Addu and Mohan striking that deal HAS to be the highlight of the day! Somehow, just watching them together on the swings made such a perfect sight - it has to be the first of Mohan-Addu picture perfect moments! And I LOVE to see some substance to Addu - he's actually shown considering and bargaining with Mohan in this scene - just lives up to the level set up by his sister and mother 😆 Oh and that reminds me, Mohan telling Megha Nanhi bilkul aap par gayi hai... 😆
What I did like also, as I briefly said on the last thread, how Mohan was not so put out and undermined. Sure, not upto his USUAL level, but he did much better - Addu as a distraction and constant competition and threat (kya din agaye hain Mohan ke 😆) actually kept him so much on toes, that the drudge of those 3 wannabes actually touched him much lesser - and I LOVED that sort of undertone! His weakest wicket, as I said earlier, actually surprised and impressed him, and even when not intending to, served as a buffer for Mohan where the more sensible Megha and Nanhi would have been less effective. And brownie points to Jiji there - sending Mohan to patao Addu! That, in my opinion, however briefly, was great writing! Jiji in the long run is going to be instrumental for MM, of course, and even though this was just a spontaneous thing from her, I like how she's becoming the person getting Mohan Addu to buddy up - commercially hi sahi 😆
Overall - feeling MUCH more satisfied than yesterday, even if the question about where this is going and for how long lingers... Interestingly, I feel that a good entertaining episode serves the same kind of distraction for us, from that more relevant question, as the family serves buffer for Mohan's greater sought out introspection about the purpose of all this! And only when he actually looks past all this transient shielding, will we get out answers, with him. I just hope it's not dragged to that point. And that while they're at it, they can deliver well like today - ab kuch toh plain drama entertainment TV par justified hai - as long as they've chalked out the bigger plan right... I'm always willing to give these writers benefit of doubt, because even on the verge of major slips, they do rebound and salvage situations... well, for the most...
Meanwhile, really am glad about this second beginning between Mohan and Addu! 😃
