The real makeover
Sony is launching a new show that will give a once-in-a-lifetime experience of a complete makeover to an individual with flawed looks, scarred or maimed, with a prominent birthmark, a congenital cleft lip, a victim of acid attack or explosion. The call for entries started from July 4, 2006, by the original ugly duckling-turned-swan, Jassi aka Mona Singh who invites viewers to send in their medical case studies or true life stories. Commenting on the show, Mona said, "Playing Jassi, I have experienced the extent of personal trauma that an individual faces in terms of acceptance by the peer group and how it can lead to sheer lack of confidence in an individual due to any disfigured exterior. Although my experience is only of rendering an on-screen character, I didn't like the feeling." The makeover magic will be conjured through the skills of India's top plastic surgeons, eye surgeons and cosmetic dentists, along with a talented team of hair and makeup artists, stylists, and personal trainers.
