hey all. i had written a huge chp but it had become too big, so i cut them into 2 parts otherwise it would have been ridiculously long. anyway enjoy this one.

Chapter 9: The Picnic

The next day was filled with excitement. This was going to be their first ever picnic and outing after joining college. This was going to be loads of fun. Khushi, payal and deepika prepared breakfast and lunch. Lunch was neatly packed away in a picnic basket. Whereas the breakfast was served hot.

Arnav just had bread, milk and eggs. And then went for his exercise before he went to change and get ready for a picnic.

Arnav: picnic? Jeez are we 5? And deepu and khushi are jumping up and down as though they are two kids. Compared to them arjun is an adult. Its going to be a tiring day.

And he let out a sigh.

Arnav, khushi, Deepika and Arjun sat in the SUV while akash had insisted he and payal come on a motorbike since payal had always wanted to sit on one ever since she was a kid.

Arnav had been talking to his jeejaji, shyam jha regarding the work to be attended to for the next month.

Shyam: so the proposal for the Schmuffs was accepted and we got that contract.

Arnav: that's good to hear jeejaji. And how is Venice? You know I included that place in your travel itinerary just for you and di right. Please do enjoy the next few days there.

Shyam: saalesahib, why do you worry. I and your di are all enjoying ourselves a lot in Venice. Its very beautiful place. By the way I hope arjun is not too much trouble.

Arnav: what jeejajee, he is in safe hands. So don't worry. And he doesn't cause a lot of problems at all. He is my little champ. Aren't you arjun.

And he put the phone on speaker mode.

Arjun: yes pop. Don't worry. Mamu takes lot of care. And I promised you last time itself that I wont trouble mamu and wont give him a single chance to complain.

Shyam: oh my dear aju, you are so cute. Here talk to your mom for some time. The business woman who isn't at all bothered about her husband being romantic. She is bad arjun. Scold her ok, she doesn't spend time with me at all.

Arjun smiled,

Arjun: mom, why aren't you paying attention to pop?

Anjali: humph. I have so much work to do my jaan. So I don't get time at all.

Arnav: di what crap. I told you to not give work so much importance. Its on me. You promised me you wont overwork yourself. Now please I have told jeejaji that the both of you have the next week to enjoy Venice. So please relax and have some fun time. And if you keep doing this I'll leave college and take over. And I'll put you and jeejajee on house arrest.

Anjali: chottey breathe. Just relax. I was just joking. God. You take everything so seriously. How in the world will some girl fall in love with you?

Arnav: di you know I don't believe in all this love nonsence.

Anjali: god chottey. I thought you'll change in college atleast. Deepu you better find some beautiful girl for our chottey. It's your responsibility.

Deepika: don't worry di. I'll take it up as my mission to find bhai's wife.

Arnav:my goodness. Don't you sisters have anything to talk other than me?

Anjali: chottey you know the answer to that question very well. Sister are there only for troubling their cute brothers.

Arnav rolled his eyes and growled on the phone.

Arnav: DI

Anjali: ok. Alright. I'll stop teasing you. Can I talk to my son now?

And she talked for sometime to arjun and then arnav cut the call after they were done talking.

Khushi now started doubting the notion that arnav was married. Because both his sisters wanted him to get married and he would not hide something of such high importance from them.

Well she'll just ask arjun later.

The next few minutes passed by quickly with deepika making small chat with khushi and arnav updating himself with the AR business around the world. He was mostly just making sure that everything in india was going to plan. He had full faith that the ones abroad would be handled well by his jeejaji and Anjali di.

Deepika after some time,

Deepika: bhai, enough with your boring business chatter, we came out to have fun. Now talk to us rather than that aman and your phone.

Arnav shook his head and said,

Arnav: ok fine. You win. So what do you want to talk about? You know all that I have to talk about is going to bore you to the core. So why do you ask?

Deepika: its nice to hear your voice time to time. Isn't it khushi?

Khushi: yes. I mean no. I mean yes.

Arnav(thinking): god cant she ever stop stammering so damn much. whats wrong with her?

Arnav: why are you so nervous khushi?

Khushi(thinking): as if I can answer that laad governor. How can I tell you that you always make me nervous. Who knows one second you talk sweetly and the next second you are a raging volcano. And I don't want to be there when you erupt.

Arnav: WHAT?

And deepika and arjun on the other hand start to laugh.

Khushi: hey devi maiyya. Did I say that out loud? Now he is seriously going to kill me.

Arnav: what the hell are you blabbering khushi?

Khushi looked in shock. She had said that out loud too and she could see the look of annoyance on arnav's face while deepika continued to laugh.

Deepika: ha ha bhai, you are a laad governor and you didn't tell me?

Arnav: deepu. Stop it.

Deepika stifled her laughter whereas khushi tried not to look at arnav.

After a few more minutes, they finally arrived at a picnic spot near a small lake. The lake was surrounded by small hills which only had grass all over it. It looked beautiful and heavenly.

Akash and arnav parked their vehicles and finally everyone ran out. The most excited were arjun and khushi who ran up and down the small slopes. Looking at khushi run, payal and deepika also ran to join them. Arnav looked at them and smirked.

Arnav: unbelievable.

Akash: what bhai?

Arnav: I thought we had to watch over only one kid. Now I realize we have to watch over four.

Akash burst into laughter looking at arnav smirk at payasl, khushi and deepika's antics.

Arnav: fine, I put you incharge of these kids.

Akash: where are you going bhai?

Arnav: Up that hill. I will still be able to see all of you.

Akash: why don't you want to sit with us? Or atleast you can sit nearby rather than climbing all the way up there.

Arnav: na. what I want to do would be best done alone.

Akash: bhai are you going to do that again? Why are you doing it to yourself. It may just have been a dream.

Arnav: I don't remember my childhood. All I remember is that one memory that haunts me. itmay even been a nighgtmare, but those flashes I get, it feels like they mean something.

Akash: bhai they are just what you want them to be. Leave them, forget about them. Two to three images will not be of any use to you.

Arnav: but its better than to be with her. Its just gets worse when I see her.

Akash: its useless convincing you bhai. you never listen.

Arnav smiled and winked.

Arnav: I do listen, otherwise who would have brought you the courage to actually talk to payal? If I wasn't there you wouldn't have even gone past mutely looking at each other and shying away. God this love crap turns people into weird aliens.

Akash just blushed and looked away embarrassed.

Arnav: fine I'll take my leave.

And akash watched arnav climb the hill and take out his pass time. A ipod and ofcourse that diary.

Sometimes akash wondered how lucky that diary was. It was the one thing that knew arnav the best apart from akash.but akash noticed that this was the new diary arnav had been using. So there was something else that was bothering arnav this year. Akash smiled. Maybe it was destiny that the gupta sisters came into their lives even if his brother, the almighty ASR refused it. Akash knew that his brother ha to forget his old memories and live in the present so as to enjoy life. Not dwell in the past where there was only pain and loneliness.
