Sliver and blue

EPILOGUE:

Once the leaves wilt,

The petals fall,

And the sunsets,

The feelings will still linger

The tempo of the heart stops,

The air thins,

And the world ceases to move,

My love will still endure

----------------

Past:

Iman stared at Belle as they sat at the park with no one around and no sound to be heard. The smell of the autumn leaves and the feel of the soft grass were as comforting as it was calming. The darkness enhanced the sense of intimacy that pervaded in the air. It was as if they were the only ones alive in the world.

And this is heaven.

It was not that he didn't care about other people; his Dadima, brothers and friends like Naintara. However at that moment he understood that he could survive without any of them but not without the woman who was with him now.

"One day we will look back on these days and remember them with nostalgia" Iman spoke to her as he pressed his face against her hair, breathing in her essence. Will there ever be a day when this will end? Or shall I always feel this crazy about her?

"We will make more memories, so that these are enhanced" She countered with an arch smile but a softness in her eyes. "This is just the beginning for us"

He leaned forward and pressed his lips against her temple, "Just the beginning"

But Belle was not one to sit in peace so she grabbed his hand to pull him and started to take her shirt off.

He smirked as he stared at her but in usual Belle style she retorted, "Stop perving and take of your clothes"

"As you command" a smirking Maan proceeded to take of his shirt, taking his time and then going near her, causing a blush to fill on her cheeks.

"What are you doing?" She mumbled even as a small smile grew on her face.

"Returning the favour darling, since I checked you out, you can do the same with me" He winked at her even as his hand tried to reach her waist.

But she was too quick for him, stepping away. "Come, let us take a dive" She smirk at him, even as she unzipped her jeans.

And with that she led him to the lake in front, so that together they dove into the water, ready to take on the dark waters.

It didn't matter that the water was freezing cold and that there was no light except the soft glow of the half moon.

What matters is that we are together, she thought with a heart filled with contentment and she swam towards him.

Silently, for no words were needed, they joined their hands.

-----------------------------------

Present:

Ready to take the dive? Geet pondered on the question as she got ready to take one of the biggest steps in her life, ready to make a new start.

People expected the Khurana Heir to have the biggest wedding of the decade, filled with glamour and splendour.

What will they do when they find out that there wasn't even a wedding party? Geet couldn't help thinking with a tiny smile on her face.

She was wearing a simple red saree with minimal makeup and jewellery but she didn't need them to look beautiful because the only ornament she really needed was the big smile on her face.

She knew that many other women would have killed for that style of wedding but their relationship had always been based on an intimacy that defied the need for show or facade of society. Nothing else was need to make the moment perfect then just the simplicity of accepting each other for what they were, no need for societal acceptance.

The wedding was happening in an old Villa in rural Italy, away from the crowds and prying eyes. The beauty of nature was their audience as was their close family and friends.

Geet wanted to stare out at the people who shaped her life but at that moment the only people she could see was the man about to become her husband and her baby girl sitting next to her. The veil partially blocked her view but she didn't need eyes to sense Maan sitting beside her, their hands inches away demanding to be joined.

The pandit was saying the wedding mantra but she didn't hear anything except listen the music that only she could hear. The solace in being with the one she was always meant to be with created a beautiful echo within herself, that defied any sadness.

This moment was utter peace, it was peace that she could find only with him.

Slightly startled as her father took her hand for Kanyadaan, she smiled gently at her father and let her hands brush his in affections. Things were slowly mending between them but she had no doubts that the love between her and her parents were too deep to be ever taken for granted again.

As her father put her hand over Maan's, Maan let her fingers brush over the top of her fingers to symbolise that as much as she was his, he was hers as well. There was no ownership, just belonging to each other.

And this is love, she felt the lightness in her heart.

Maan reached over to tie the mangulsutra around her neck and couldn't help but let his lips brush across her cheeks.

With a quite whisper, barely audible, he murmured "I love you"

She glimpsed up at him through eyelashes dripping with tears of joy and he could read her response in her gaze.

------------------------------

2 years later:

"I love you!" Geet gave him a big smooch on his cheek.

"I love you too!" He returned the kiss and gave a big hug, "You are always gonna be my favourite girl"

"For the love of god!" Maan growled out, as he saw his wife and her best friend talk to each other as if they hadn't met for a year let alone the day before. "I think I am going to puke at this."

"Don't you dare say anything about my buddy!" Geet warned with a glare at Maan, while Seb had an evil smirk.

Despite Geet and Maan having been married for over two years, Seb loved teasing and poking at Maan. The poor man would seethe with anger but couldn't do much while Geet was there but that didn't mean that he didn't try to bring Seb down at every other opportunity.

"Oh don't worry, I won't say that he is a retard or an imbecile" Maan said with a smirk, "After all I can't be mean to someone with a disability!"

"MAAN!" Geet screamed while Seb was choking with a mixture of anger and amusement.

"I concur with you" Naina came sauntering into the room with her usual nonchalant attitude. It definitely didn't matter that Seb and Naina were husband and wife, because no one teased Seb more than his spouse. "After two years of marriage I can vouch that he is a retard"

Maan fell over laughing and held onto Naina who was also chuckling, "Owned!"

"You all need to grow up" Meliara came walking in with the dignity of a 6 year old, looking down with disappointment at the adults who continued to act in such an immature manner.

"Sorry dear" Maan was immediately contrite. No one, absolutely no one, had such power over the MSK as this little girl did. Nothing was too much for his daughter and her every wish was his to complete.

Mel gave her cute smile at her favourite man, "It is okay daddy. You are the best"

Geet rolled her eyes fondly. It both frustrated and amused her that Mel was so much like Maan. She would talk like him and have the same body gestures. It didn't matter that they didn't share any blood connections, because they were such tight pair.

Mel would sit with Maan on the table and read papers exactly the same way as he would. They would have conversations about history, despite Mel being so young.

"What about me!" Seb immediately chimed in, "I thought I was your favourite"

Mel smirked, a smirk ridiculously like Maan's, "Uncle S you forgot to bring me the new I-Pod, so maybe I'll reconsider that"

"MELIARA HANDA!" Immediately Geet was on alert, "Don't you dare ask for another present!"

"Hey who is shouting at my niece" Dev asked with outrage, as did Maan, Seb and Naina. "She can ask for anything"

Meera and Geet stared at each other shaking their heads. Both were mothers to the little girl and sisters to each other in truth now.

But Meliara was not spoiled despite everyone's best efforts. So with contrition, she turned to Geet, "Sorry Mama. I didn't really mean it" She went to hug her mother who immediately returned it. "I know baby girl. You aren't spoiled at all. Why don't you go up and change you dress before dinner, sweety?"

Looking around as her daughter walked away, she saw her world. Naina and Seb were fighting again, while Dev and Meera were blushing like high school kids. Some things never change.

"What are you thinking of darling?" Maan came behind her, his hands going around her waist.

"I am thinking that we need something to complete the picture" She patted her stomach to make sure he understood what she was talking about.

Maan immediately removed his hand, "Absolutely not!"

"Absolutely yes" She smiled up at him and reached to pat his face.

"No" His voice was dark, "I won't risk you, ever"

"Sometimes we need to risk it all to gain something beyond our imagination" Her smile told it clearly that she meant that about themselves as well.

--------------------------

6 years later:

Airports were a puzzle; people running around in frazzled confusion and others greeting loved ones after long absences.

And then there were those waiting for their loved ones.

Maan waited for Geet, amongst a sea of strangers. As always these separations pained him but they were part of being with someone like her.

Both of them were professionals; him with his business enterprise and her with her surgical career. It made life difficult but if the alternative was not being with her than there was really no choice at all. So life was hectic, months spent in India and then in Australia. She tried to carry out her research project in Delhi but still it was a necessity to go back for training.

And there she was walking towards him with such grace and confidence.

It astounded her how strong his woman was, as if she could overcome anything that this world had to throw at her. No obstacle was a barrier for and despite the issues their work would bring, he could never take away this from her.

He saw the exact moment she saw him; her eyes lit up and the smile on her face was so brilliant that it caused an ache in him.

They didn't run towards each other, they walked with eyes trained on the other. With easy and sure steps they walked closer and closer.

And suddenly they were standing together.

"I missed you" He smiled down at her, not even touching her yet.

She reached over and fixed his tie, an intimacy that exceeded even the most passionate of kisses. "I've missed you"

Without any other words, she intertwined her fingers with his and started to walk.

Time for home.

-------------------------

The brush of lips against hers even as her hands touched scraped against his neck, was creating chaos within her.

He touched her with such finesse, treating her with passion and gentleness. It didn't matter that they had been married for six years because every time he touched her it was an experience that forever touched her soul.

The sound of his deep breathing in her ears even as he kissed her neck was something so inexplicably beautiful that she felt the prickle of tears. His fingers caressed her cheeks and then slid down lower and lower.

She gasped at the power of his touch and could hardly control herself as she pulled him closer. Wrapping her legs around him, she cradled him between her thighs, letting the dance they did proceed to its natural culmination.

With such maddeningly slow pace he entered her, stopping to stare at her face and then lean forward so that their foreheads were touching.

"I've missed you" He whispered before he moved in and then out again.

So beautiful, she thought even as the crescendo of their love making built into a frenzy that was waiting to be released.

She pressed her lips against the pulse on his neck and gave a small nip, causing him to swear in frustration and her to smile at the power she held over her man.

He retaliated by increasing the pressure on her even more till there was nothing to do but take that leap and let go.

Panting afterwards, with sweaty limbs intertwined she started to brush back his hair from his face a move that was tender and affectionate.

"Will you welcome me this way every time I get back?" She pressed a smile against his cheek as she spoke. "Because then I'll have to be away more often"

"Well in that case I'll choose a lifetime of chastity because I don't want you away" He tweaked her nose.

"Aren't you going to ask what I brought back for you?" She tugged a bit of his hair.

Confused at her question, nonetheless he complied, "What did you bring back for me?"

"Life" She answered with a blinding smile.

"Life?" He was even more confused but then a it suddenly snapped into place causing his face to pale, "Do you-are trying-are you pregnant?" He stammered out.

She nodded at him and again pressed a kiss on him. "Yes….we are going to have another child darling, Mel will have a sibling"

"NO!" He shot out of the bed, not caring that he wasn't wearing anything. "This cannot be happening. I won't allow it"

Gently she went up to him and took his hands with hers, "Maan, admit defeat"

He obstinately shook his head, "I can't let you do this Geet….I'll never lose you!"

"And you won't" She pressed a hand on his cheek and then brushed his hair back again, "Because I've wished for this so hard, that nothing could ruin it"

"But-"

"You've fulfilled all my dreams, so let this one come true" She looked so radiantly happy that he grudgingly smiled even as fear filled him.

"Okay…but I am not letting you out of my sight"

---------------------------

Geet was beaming as she sat next to a Maan who stared intently at her. Her hands rested on her bulging abdomen. At six months of pregnancy she was so big that it was laughable but Geet was enjoying every moment.

"Are you okay?" He asked for the hundredth time.

"Fine"

"Is it too cold?"

"No"

"Is it too hot?"

"No"

"Too much air"

"MAAN!"

"I knew it! I'll tell them to turn of the air conditioning" He was about to get up and do exactly that when Geet stopped him.

"Maan I am fine" She smiled to show the truth of her words, "Absolutely fine. Now sit and enjoy our daughter's speech"

If nothing else worked, Meliara always worked to alleviate Maan's worries. With a smile on his face he turned to watch his one and only daughter walk on stage, pride in his eyes.

"She is so beautiful" Geet said with a slight dewy look on her eyes. The pregnancy hormones hit her at the most inopportune moments but at this point there was no holding back.

Her baby girl was the valedictorian of her Primary school and it made her so proud.

Lily and Rahul would be so happy, she thought with such poignancy. It didn't matter how much happiness she would find or how much peace for there would always be a hole in her because of them. Her beautiful brother and friend were to precious to be forgotten.

But I shall always have a piece of them, she thought with love as she stared at Mel take the microphone, she is the best part of me, as such they have given me the most precious gift of motherhood.

"I am Meliara Khurana Handa" She spoke so proudly, standing the same way as Maan did in a board meeting; with authority and confidence, "And I am honoured to be the Valedictorian of the class of this year. It is a privilege to stand amongst my peers and accept this"

"She is amazing" Maan whispered to her ears even while staring intently at Mel.

"Tomorrow we shall start a new chapter and a new path" She continued on, staring right at them for a second, "But that doesn't mean that these years will be forgotten."

"These years have shaped and moulded us to assist with our dreams, regardless what they maybe. We all have such dreams some that are still being dreamt Growing up I wanted to be just like my father; brave and intelligent. But I also wanted to be like my mother; fearless and determined. He made me understand the value of honesty and integrity while she made me understand that endurance is essential for success."

"But more importantly they made me realise that nothing is out of reach and that there are no barriers to our achievement. We all should strive for more and more. Limitless are our dreams, limitless are our aims and limitless shall be our success"

------------------------------

Let their be no limits,

Life with no bounderies,

And love with no hesitation.

-----------------------------------

END:
