Face of the week: Aashka Goradia: By A. L. Chougule

Three years after doing the supernatural thriller Achanak – 36 Saal Baad that was produced and directed by B. P. Singh, Aashka Goradia is happy to be working with him once again in Akela. "It's a great feeling working in Akela because it has elements of soap, thriller and supernatural. It has complicated relationships, emotions, romance, action and thrills. It's an exciting show." She is very happy because the soap happens to be a weekly and the actress wanted to star in one for a long time. Aashka plays a young girl who is torn between her husband and lover who comes out of coma after eight years.

"Kinnari was engaged to Ranvir who is a cop. On the day of their engagement Ranvir is shot in an operation and he slips into coma. When there is no hope of him coming out of coma Kinnari gets married to a doctor. But things take a different turn when Ranvir recovers. She is confused and torn between her ex-fianc and husband," says Aashka who plays Kinnari, a simple and emotional girl who is committed to her marriage but also can't overcome her feelings for Ranvir.

Apart from Akela one can see her in Balaji's Kahin To Hoga as well. She plays Gayatri who will soon be engaged to Sujal in the show. "It's a regular role and I had to do it because after doing Kkusum I couldn't say no to Balaji. I have good relations with the production house and Kkusum was my first big and popular show."

Aashka used to be seen in Jet Set Go too, but was replaced by Shama Sikander after eight episodes because she finished last amongst the anchors. But the actress enjoyed her time on the show as she says that it was a great learning experience. "I am now looking at doing a reality show as well," she says.
Unlike some who shy away from saas-bahu sagas or just stick to them, Aashka clearly likes to get the best of everything.
