What Will Be Mandira's Justice?

I was not a fan of the character of Mandira and truth be told, she made my hair fall out (while ripping it out of my head watching her) every time she got any screen space on the show. I think CVs have made it impossible to like any character in the show since they are so hell-bent on assassinating every character except maybe Indira (and even that's not for certain). I watch HD for the actors that I love: Rati, Sumit, Mrunal, Sandeep, Smita, and the sweet boy who plays Ishaan!

When I saw Mandira walking on the streets after hell from Sameer, I just wanted to fly her out of there into the safest part of some corner in the world and protect her until the end of time. I am not saying the journey for justice is easy, but making us realize that the decision to pursue justice should be.

I feel like tracks having Mandira marry Sameer or Ricky are going to defeat justice! Mandira marrying Sameer is atrocious on so many levels. His character requires and deserves serious jail-time and a lock up in the asylum to protect others from his dangerous mental condition. In many shows, there is this formulaic plot line having the rapist atone with marriage which is horrifying!

Having Mandira marry Ricky is another injustice. The only reason anyone would justify this happening is to avoid the stigma that Mandira faces because of the ordeal. Does that mean Mandira only deserves happiness and justice in society if she marries? What kind of message is that? She has already been harmed physically and mentally, so now society has to press their nails into her as well? If Ricky was not there to accept Mandira, does that mean she has no right to live without stigma and enjoy life freely?

The fight for justice shouldn't stop with getting Sameer punished but with fighting the stigma society assigns raped women! Such a task is hard but making Mandira a positive and responsible person in the community can do that!

Here's hoping... 😊

nice post and beautiful question.

but answer is difficult.

justice will be done--so sameer will go jail--logically no marriage between two possible.

2nd option is rishi marrying mandira as sacrifice.[this may happen if mandira gets pregnant.]
but will it good for mandira /rishi /indira.??all the three will become unhappy and ralationship between three is ruined.
so 2nd option possible-but it may not bring any happyness for all the three.

3rd option is mandira changing and become responcible.this is good option.rape is not end of life.life should move on.she should join some job and now she knows life is not bed of roses.i want her to learn lesson from this episode and becomes matured person in life.so she should not marry any body as of now and should face life with courage.

but cvs kya dikhathe hai kis ko malum??

I know indira will ask Rishi to marry mandira, but it is wrong ,why he should be made scape goat.

Three lives will be ruined. In real life it doesnt happen like this.Mandira hasalso comitted mistake of Blackmailing and provoking sameer. She should be shown now more mature, independent and responsible.

@bold: Your questions here are larger than the context of this show. And your point in bold red is the desirable ideal. I don't know how many support groups manage to create such individuals.

For a rape victim to come to a stage where she can even think of marriage and a normal life, there are several stages and hurdles--not the least being her own self image and being able to handle proximity to a male (even a decent, well-meaning one). For a rape victim to become a positive and responsible person in the community, if it happens at all in an Indian setup (where the victim isn't allowed to forget the incident), may take a good many years. It would be interesting to see the show take the time to grapple with these aspects, but I think they will stick to the traditional.

Frankly, so far, whatever little they have shown, I don't think the issue has been dealt with sensitively in the show. After the hospital and treatment, Indira takes her directly to Sameer. Mandira is standing within three feet of her perpetrator and perhaps within 24 hours of the crime. I am not sure that was the most sensitive thing to do. They wanted to show that Indira is back to being Hitler, but even that was hardly convincing. She held his collar, she twisted his arm, and said something about becoming Durga and Kali. I know she'll fight tooth and nail for her sister, but this wasn't the brightest thing to do.

What will be justice? Justice will be Mandira finding her 'self'. With no reference to anyone within her family or outside. Years ago, an episode on Doordarshan showed a mother pouring a bucket of cold water over her violated daughter. This was the cleansing act. She told her daughter that your body has been violated but no one can touch your mind unless you allow them to. Sounds tacky, but is true. Justice would mean locking Sameer away so that he cannot do this to others. But for Mandira, real justice would mean finding her identity with no reference to any person, place, or incident. Then, like your pointed out in your last sentence, she will be on her way to becoming a positive person who can help others like herself.

Sorry for the ramble. Not sure I made much sense. Thanks for reading.
