Considering her discomfort, Yash chuckled and brushed his fingers through his hair. Anu looked at him befuddled while he shook his head and smiled at her, "Koi baat nahi Anu… you have all the time on the earth to answer that one" He once again squeezed her hand to assure her before she stepped out of his car and strolled into the house as he waited for her to get in. When she did, he drove away into the darkness of the night.

"Waise Geet… Agar har baar mere naraaz hone pe tum mujhe aisa surprise dogi toh mainn… ouchhh" the amusement in his voice was replaced by a yelp as he looked at her dumbfounded and rubbed on his arm where she had just bit him… BIT HIM!! Geet giggled before she took her position back to entwine her arm with his and leaned on his shoulder while he drove her back to her place. "What was that for?" he scowled. "You know it yourself… Mujhse naraaz hone ki baat kyun ki?" she asked and turning her head a little kissed on the spot where she had bitten. The mischievous note back in his tone, "Hmm… though I'm glad I mentioned it… I seem to be discovering a whole new side to you". Geet frowned; "Matlab?" and she straightened herself to look at him. Pulling the car off the road, he turned the ignition off before turning to look at her. "Hum yahan kyun ruke hain?" she asked unsure catching on the mischief in his voice. "Thought I'll return the favour" he said while advancing towards her. "Ji?" she backed in her seat while he kept leaning in on her, the seatbelt holding her in place while he trapped her. Looking deep in her eyes, he leaned in closer and gently nipped her earlobe. Geet gasped, "Maan…" she whispered while he tasted and teased the sensitive skin behind her ear eliciting a moan from her lips. He smiled, before he grudgingly left her and placed a lingering kiss on her parted lips. With his breath falling on her cheeks, he whispered in her ear, "That equals the score" thereby breaking her trance. Immediately straightening up, she pushed him a little irritated, "Maan, you are gonna pay for this" she glared at him. He smirked as he turned the ignition on and winked at her before taking to the road, "Anytime… I'll more than keen to explore this wild side of my Mishti". She smacked on his arm and muttered, "Iniquitous Man!" and he heartily laughed at her flustered state.

She was cheated, she was abandoned and her feelings were toyed with once. And so it was not easy for her to think about starting a fresh or trusting someone with her heart again. But as much as Anu tried, she couldn't push away the image of hope that sparkled in Yash's eyes. What was it that was kindling her to take a step ahead and bare her heart in front of him, she wondered as she lay in her bed. Why did she feel her heart flutter when he asked her if she could attempt to move ahead? Why did she feel the tug… a slight disappointment when he drove away without urging her to speak? What was it that was pulling her to Yash? Was it even right? Was she being selfish anchoring to Yash so that she could pull herself out of the abyss of her own pain? She pondered over a million thoughts that were invading her peace. Tossing and turning in her bed, when she couldn't think of anything, she decided she needed to talk to someone about it… and so flipping her phone open, she dialed the number and put the phone to her ear till it was finally answered and, "Hello" came in the groggy reply.
However, on the other side, Geet could barely go back to sleep as her thoughts were occupied by Anu now and she wondered what it was that Anu had called to say but did not.

"Good morning sweetheart" Vicky dreamily chirped into the phone the moment Sasha's phone was answered but was surprised when he heard the masculine voice that berated his tone, "Excuse me, who's this?" In an instant, Vicky's eyes widened in surprise and shock as he realized that the man on the other end was Sasha's father. "Hello…" the stern voice called in again and Vicky gulped hard before replying, "Oh hell!" Vicky muttered pulling the phone just a little away. Sasha's father on the other side raised his brow, "If you dialed in for hell, you should have my number… and not my daughters!" the old man's firm voice made Vicky quiver. "I… I'm sorry sir" he stuttered pressing the phone back to his ear. "Sasha is not around. You may speak to her later" said that the phone was disconnected leaving a baffled Vicky staring at his phone as he wondered what had just happened.

"Ma, Delhi jaate hi hum Maan aur Geet ki shaadi ki date announce kar denge" Nandita excitedly said as she joined her family on the breakfast table. "Aap bilkul theek keh rahi hain. Hum toh kehte hain ki aapko abhi se hi taiyaariyan shuru kar deni chahiye. Kyun Maan?" Dadi Ma teased Maan. "Dad, I think ma aur dadi ma bilkul theek keh rahe hain… Veerji ka koi bharosa nahi hai, aur pata chala Geet bhabhi ko bhaga ke le gaye" Dev teased causing Maan to choke on his food while others laughed except Anu who was absent mindedly playing with her food. "Dev!" Maan reprimanded him but dadi Ma cut in to Dev's defence, "Aap dev ko kyun ghoor rahe hain Maan, sach hi toh keh rahe hain woh… yaad hai aapko kaise Anu ko bewakoof bana ke Geet ko leke gayab ho jaate the aap. Kyun Anu?" Dadi Ma turned to Anu only to find her lost in her own thoughts.
"Anu" nudged Nandita as concern replaced the jovial mood of the family. "Kya hua Mumma?" Anu asked when she noticed that suddenly she was the subject of everyone's attention. "Are you fine beta?" Savitri Devi asked when Anu looked around bemused. Shrugging her shoulders, Anu smiled at her grandmother and placed a hand on her mother's, "Haan, kyun?" she asked. "You sure beta?" Viren asked. Anu smiled and nodded politely before turning her attention back to the plate. Maan who didn't speak anything, frowned at the altercation. Once Anu excused herself to go back to her room, he quickly followed suit.
Maan knocked on Anu's bedroom door again but there was no reply. Reluctantly, he poked his head into the room and saw her standing by the window clutching her teddy bear close to herself. Contemplating for a moment, Maan went over to her and placed his arm around her shoulder, "Still the pooh bear? Dad sahi kehte hain… tu abhi bhi bachi hai" he said shaking his head. Putting the pooh bear aside, "Main bachi nahi hoon" Anu said with a pout. "Acha?" he asked in a mocking tone. Anu frowned and folded her hands across her chest, at once eliciting a chuckle, "Veerji…" Anu whined when Maan pinched her nose affectionately. "Waise aap yahan kya kar rahe ho?" she queried. "Meri princess neeche itni chup chaap baithi thi… sab theek thaak hai na… I mean koi planning vlanning toh nahi kar rahi na…" he trailed off. "Main kya koi daily soap ki vamp hoon jo humesha planning karti rehti hu" she retorted. "Toh phir itni chup… koi toh baat hai?" he subtly made his point. Anu looked at Maan and at once understood what Maan was saying. Turning away from him, she tried to plaster a fake smile as she said, "Aisa kuch nahi hai Veerji, main toh bas aapki aur Geet ki shaadi ki preparations ke baare main soch rahi thi" she lied. "Hmm… woh toh neeche dining table pe dikhai de raha tha" he added.
Anu bit her lip seeing no escape from her brother's interrogation but at the same time she wondered what could she say to her Veerji when she was herself so confused. Maan gently tapped her shoulder to call for his attention and then leaning in kissed her forehead before he led her to her bed. Making her sit, he sat beside her and gently held her hand before he began, "Main jaanta hoon Anu… it isn't so easy for you". Anu looked at him and was about to speak when he put his hand forward stopping her from saying anything. "Let me speak princess" he tenderly said while Anu expectantly looked at him. "Bachi, I know jo bhi hua… woh theek nahi tha… Geet ki takleef ke saamne tune apna dard chupa liya lekin. You hardly spoke about your pain. But who better than I would know, that what meets the eye is not the only truth. Aur jo nazar na aaye, jaroori toh nahi ki who hai hi nahi" he said and with the gentle stroke of his thumb wiped the single tear that fell from Anu's eye. Anu leaned in to hold on to him for support. Gently patting her back, Maan began once again, "Cry if you want to bachi… cry as much as you want for once and let it go completely" this time his own voice constricting in pain and he gulped down the lump forming in his throat. Anu straightened up and looked directly in Maan's eyes. Her tear-stricken face created a dent in his soul before she wiped her tears and spoke, "It hurts… it hurts to know that the man I loved used me as a pawn to get to my best friend… (she got up from the bed, and involuntarily Maan's fingers balled into tight fists) aapko pata hai Veerji, mujhe kabhi kabhi khud pe kitna gussa aata hai… how could I be so blind? How could I let him fool around with me? Why? Why did I allow him?" Anu shut her eyes to contain the throbbing pain she felt.
"It wasn't your fault bachi" Maan said hastily but Anu was beyond herself, "nahi Veerji, meri galti thi" she stressed. Holding her face in his palms, he wiped her tears and shook his head for a no, "No… you can't keep blaming yourself for something you didn't do" Maan explained. "Exactly Veerji. I didn't do anything. If I had not been so blind toh itna sab kuch nahi hota. Geet wouldn't have had to face all that. Uncle, Aunty ka accident…" not able to finish, she hid her face in her palm and started weeping. This was the first time Anu was letting all out in front of him. The extent to which she still blamed herself shook Maan and he began to formulate his thoughts to console her but before he could, the silence was interrupted by another voice, "Aise toh galati meri bhi thi" Both Maan and Anu turned to the door to see Geet standing by the door crying herself. And Maan knew she had heard everything. "Maine bhi toh sab kuch peeche chod diya tha. Agar main Hoshiarpur se aane ke baad tujhe sab kuch bata deti toh itna tamasha nahi hota" Geet held Anu's hand and looked regretfully at the floor. "Geet…" Anu tried to stop her but Geet continued, "Arjun aur tere baare mai mujhe pata tha… I always had my doubts but teri baat maan ke maine un pe dhyan nahi diya. Ma-Bauji mere liye ladte rahe, aur meri wajah se unki jaan gayi… Had it not been for me, they would have been alive… Toh is main teri galati kahan se aayi Anu?" Geet earnestly asked her as Maan looked on painfully. "Geet please… You are not to be blamed" Anu chided her and wiping her own tears turned to Maan, "veerji, aap hi boliye na isse"
"Kyun? Sach toh sach hi hai na?" Geet countered. "Enough you two!" Maan commanded with finality. "Haven't I been telling you two to quit watching those stupid saas-bahu serials?" Maan maintained a straight face while attempting to lift the heaviness that had descended into the room. Both Anu and Geet gaped at him. "I'll deal with you later" he said pointedly to a pouting Geet and turned to Anu, "Please Anu… It's all ended now. You need to push these thoughts out of your head. Leave behind all this and start afresh" he said to soothe her. But Anu probingly looked into his eyes, "Kaunsi nayi shuruwat Veerji? Kaisi nayi shuruwat? I will never be able to trust someone again Veerji… I will never let someone hurt me again" she said adamantly. "Kyun?" Geet intervened again, "Kyun nahi kar sakti tu nayi shuruwat. Maine bhi toh ki na… despite the fact that your Veerji was being a total jerk, didn't I forgive him?" Geet asked completely ignoring Maan. "Geet… you…" Maan incredulous looked at her and Anu chuckled seeing them getting back to being themselves. "Trust yourself Anu… trust us… look beyond. Ek dhoke se zindagi khatam nahi hoti" Geet said holding her hand.
"Geet theek keh rahi hai Princess… you have to move ahead" he said placing a hand on Anu's shoulder. "Nahi Veerji… I don't think I can" she vehemently shook her head. "Theek hai… If you can't toh even I won't" Geet folded her hands across her chest and plopped down on her bed stubbornly. "You can't matlab?" Anu turned to her. "Matlab, your Veerji can go and find someone else" she flatly said. "What!" the brother-sister duo exclaimed in unison. "I mean haan theek hai… Geet ke jaisi koi doosri milna mushkil hai… but Maan aapko compromise karna padega" Geet said mulling over her thoughts. "Geet tum…" Maan advanced towards her but Anu's cut him off, "tu pagal hai. Kuch bhi bolti hai." Anu plopped beside her. "Kyun? If you say something that's fine, Agar wohi baat main karu toh main pagal hoon, kyun?" Geet argued. "Urghh! Geettt" Anu glared at her. Geet turned to face away from her. Anu shook her head and said dejectedly, "Please Geet… tu toh samajh" Pursing her lips, Geet turned to her, "Kya samjhu main Anu? Ki all of a sudden you are acting coward by wishing to withdraw?" Anu turned to Maan, "Veerji… please" Maan raised his brows while Geet countered, "Hello… tu mujhse baat kar" Maan came and sat beside Anu. Taking her hand in his, he also held Geet's hand behind Anu as he spoke, "Please Anu, atleast make a try" Maan tried to coax her. Geet smiled at Maan and nodded in understanding, interlaced her fingers with his.
Anu turned towards Geet who gave her an encouraging smile and Anu gently nodded in conformity while she sniffed and said, "Ok. But ek shart pe…" Maan frowned, "Kaisi shart?" Wiping her tears, Anu gave Maan as faint smile as she said, "Mujhe aapko woh red shirt main dekhna hai"
Maan's eyes widened in surprise, while Anu chuckled a little and at once Geet pulled her hand from his hold gawking at Anu in astonishment. "Anu… shh…" she gestured her to keep quiet but was it was too late. "Geet told you that?" Maan asked bewilderment. "And more…" she added with a wink. Edgy, Geet nudged Anu and bit her lip when she caught Maan glaring at her. Embarrassed, Maan groaned inwardly while Anu stifled her laughter watching his flushed state, "You two are mad!" he declared thereby causing her to laugh while Geet winced. However, Anu's laughter instantly caught their awareness and they smiled at each other. Anu hugged Maan and softly said, "Thanks Veerji." Maan tenderly held her and kissed the top of her head.
Geet wiped her own tears and affectionately smiled looking on. She knew Maan loved Anu dearly and the siblings shared a great rapport. It was because of this reason that she once chose to break all her contacts with Anu for she was afraid that their friendship with be a cause of constraint between her and Maan. But invariantly it had happened. The fact pained her. But now that everything was sorted she silently thanked her Babaji for restoring the bond that she had always loved.
"Veerji, Geet meri bhabhi baad main and best friend pehle hai… hai na Geet" Geet was pulled out of her thoughts when she felt Anu tugging at her arm. Confused, she looked from Anu to Maan and back. "And not to mention she thinks that you are quiet boring!" Anu teased. Visually mortified, Geet understood that she was back at teasing. "BORING! Main Boring hoon?" Maan advanced towards Geet. Geet elbowed Anu and denied, "Boring? Err… yeh… yeh maine kab bola" and smiled foolishly. "Arre… kal raat ko hi toh bola tha… remember?" Anu said cheekily. Geet whined, "Anu ki bachi!" Anu giggled while Maan exclaimed, "Tum Anu ke saamne meri burai karti ho" Geet looked up at Maan in defiance, "Burai kahan ki? Sach hi toh bola hai". Maan pursed his lips, "Sach bola? Geet… Tum…" Teaming up again girls laughed while Maan defiantly looked at them before giving up and leaving the room muttering profanities under his breath.

Vicky dialed Sasha's cell again but it was switched off. She had not reported to work today. "I hope everything is fine" he said and left a message again but knew it was futile. Vicky ran his hand through his hair in frustration feeling helpless than ever. And he waited for another day before he could speak to Sasha in person

Geet smiled as she got ready to go to the hotel. Yesterday had been a busy day with Khurana's. Nandita, Dadi Ma and Anu never left her side as they made the wedding plans. She was happy and already felt a part of their family. Nandita's fussing over her likes and disliked reminded her of Rano. For a short while when Maan was around, before he left for work, he appeared grumpy whenever she looked at him but she had seen his blissful smile from the corner of her eyes. Adding a final touch to her gloss, she looked herself at the mirror and blew a kiss before laughing at nothing in particular. Turning to Babaji, she joined her hands and thanked her before she heard Pammi calling her for breakfast.
"Sasha… yaar please meri baat toh suno" Vicky followed Sasha in her cabin as he begged her to listen to him. "Vicky, I told you mom and dad are back home, couldn't you be a bit more careful?" an irritated Sasha asked as she slammed her bag on her desk. "How would I know that your dad was handling your phone?" Vicky reasoned. Sasha shook her head, "You don't understand Vicky. This just adds to my woes" she said defeated. Vicky sighed and held her shoulders, "Sasha, honey… what woes?… why don't you trust me?" he asked sincerely. Sasha looked at Vicky and held his hand, "Vicky, what makes you think that I don't trust you? But I have told you that marriage is not something that I can think about right now" she said looking deep in his eyes. "Did I ever pressurize you?" he asked kissing her palm. "No, you didn't. Lekin mere parents meri baat nahi samajh rahe hain" Sasha turned away from him. "Give me a chance Sasha. Main baat karta hoon unse" Vicky coaxed her. "And what will you tell them?" Sasha asked miffed at Vicky's insistent stance. "I'll tell them that I love you…" Vicky moved closer to Sasha and hugged her from behind but Sasha pried his hands away. "It's not about you Vicky, it's about me…. It's about my parents…" tensed, Sasha shut her eyes wondering how things had gone complicated so suddenly.
Vicky walked in front of her and held her, "We knew this would happen, didn't we?" he asked earnestly. "It's unfair to ask you to cope up with all this Vicky, when the issue is certainly from my end" Sasha said apologetically. "Come on Sasha, its not you or I, its us… how can something that has got to do with you be of no significance to me?" he asked. "You are not going to back away right?" the sincere request behind the bemused expressions didn't go unnoticed by him. He smiled, not only to cheer her but also to assure her, "Hum dilwale hain madam… aur dil wale toh dulhaniya le ke jayenge… that is jab dulhaniya raazi ho" said that he winked at her and she couldn't help but chuckle at his antics, "My filmi khurana" she muttered lovingly while he brought her close and kissed her, promising her to stay by her forever. "I just need you by my side Sasha… the rest we'll handle" he whispered when they parted.

"Good morning Veerji" Geet greeted Adi and rolled a parantha kept on the plate. "Kya kar rahi hai… araam se baith ke kha" Pammi reproached her. "Maasi ji, mujhe der ho rahi hai…" Geet continued to gobble the food as she spoke. "Itni kaunsi jaldi hai tujhe" Adi inquired. "Woh… actually… mujhe…" Geet sheepishly trailed off catching the amused glint in Pinky's eyes, "Haan haan… jaldi toh hogi hi… sabko hoti hai… mujhe bhi hua karti thi" she teased. Pammi smiled and gently tapped on her head while Adi frowned, "Maan sir kahin bhaage nahi ja rahe… waise bhi mujhe tujhse kuch baat karni hai" he said. Geet looked up at him, "Kya baat Veerji?" she asked expectantly. "Hum kal lawyer se milne gaye the. Woh keh rahe the ki…" he was about to tell her about the requisition of her presence in the court room when Pammi interjected, "Kya kahenge… woh keh rahe the ki humara case strong hai… humme fikar karne ki koi zaroorat nahi hai" The nervous anticipation on Geet face was instantly released by a relieved sigh while Adi looked less pleased with his mother at the interruption. Pammi looked away from his questioning gaze and turned her attention to Geet, "Puttar araam se jaana… aur deri na karna… humme shopping ke liye jaana hai… 2 din reh gaye hain Delhi jaane main aur kitna kaam pada hai". Geet smiled, "Aap fikar mat karo Maasi ji… main jaldi aa jaungi" and quickly finishing her breakfast she rushed out even before Adi could protest or Pinky could suggest that they would leave together.
"Ma, aapne mujhe bolne kyun nahi diya?" Adi asked once the door was shut behind Geet. "Puttar, tune dekha nahi who kitni khush lag rahi thi. Main nahi chahti ki us Arjun ki wajah se ab Geet kabhi bhi pareshaan ho. Aur maine Maan se baat kar li hai… usne kaha hai woh lawyer se baat kar lega" Pammi justified while Adi's frown deepened. "Ma, I'm not sure Geet would like it. Aur humari Geet itni kamzor nahi hai. She can handle it" Adi pressed. "Adi, I'm sure Geet can handle it… lekin agar alternate hai… toh kyun nahi?" Pinky justified Pammi's view. Adi rolled his eyes and left the table while Pinky smiled at Pammi before she left to get ready for work too.

Vicky was pacing in his cabin tensed at the turn of events. What was he going to do now? How was he going to handle things? He had just finished his studies and was looking forward to go back to gain some experience with some reputed MNC before he joined Khuranas but it now looked that things were going to change. Sasha was not only his senior but also established in her career… she was shouldering the responsibility of her parents… and comparatively he was just a fresher. He never thought that would ever be a problem for he knew his family would support him eventually. But never did he think before that Sasha's family might not be very pleased with the state of affairs. It didn't help that Sasha was not telling him the gravity of her problem but by the looks of it he knew she was in a complex situation.
"Kya baat hai Vicky? Everything alright?" Maan asked stepping into Vicky cabin. Turning to face Maan, Vicky gave Maan a nervous smile, "Ji Veerji… sab theek hai… kyun?" Maan suspiciously looked at Vicky, "You sure?" he asked. But just then they heard another voice, "Ofcourse not!" and turned to see Geet standing on the door looking at both the brothers. "Hey Geet…" Vicky greeted her while Maan asked, "What are you doing here?" Geet raised her brow at Maan, "Kehne ko hotel ke MD and behavior hostile. Hospitality ka 'H' tak toh aata nahi hai" she muttered. Maan glared her while Vicky muffled a laugh. Maan glared at Vicky and turned to Geet "And you are here to brush my hospitable skills? How are you so sure that Vicky isn't fine?" Maan asked curiously. "Vicky ki shakal pe barah baje hain. Saaf dikhaye de raha hai" Geet said as she went to stand beside Vicky. Maan rolled his eyes while Vicky gaped at her. Looking at Vicky, she shrugged her shoulders and leaned in to whisper, "Is it about Sasha?" Vicky looked at her in surprise, "How do you know?" he asked in hushed voice. "Main abhi Sasha se mil ke aa rahi hoon. She looked tensed too" Geet whispered back.
"Yeh kya kanaphusi chal rahi hai" Maan asked in annoyance. "Oh! Nothing that needs concern you" Geet replied haughtily irking Maan further. Maan narrowed his eyes, "Oh really?" he asked placing his hands on his hips. Fanning herself, Geet replied, "It's a secret you know". Maan looked at Vicky expectantly, but Vicky's lips pressed into a thin line and he looked away. Maan threw his hands in air, "Talk about the shifting loyalties of siblings" Geet grinned while Vicky smirked, "It's all a matter of power play Veerji. Everybody knows who wears the pants here" said he winked at Geet who burst out laughing while Maan scowled and stepped dangerously towards Vicky who stepped behind Geet. "You rogue!" Maan cursed while Vicky laughed and Geet's mouth fell open. "Maan!!" Geet chided him stopping Maan in his tracks as she glared at him. "What?" he asked perplexed at her change of attitude. "No cussing!" she instructed causing Maan to stop in his track as he searched for words to justify himself. Vicky burst out laughing, "See exactly what I meant" and before Maan could reach him he fled from the scene leaving a miffed looking Geet and a bemused Maan behind.
Once the door was shut, Maan turned to Geet, "Aur tum… Why don't our private moments align with your definition of secrets?" he asked towering over her. Geet placed her finger on his chest and pushed him a little behind, "Mr. Khurana, behave!" she turned to leave but Maan pulled her back encaging her in the circle of his arms, "To be Mrs. Khurana… may I know why are you acting in line with Dadi ma?" Geet's mouth fell open, "Kya? Main… main Dadi ma jaise act kar rahi hoon?" she asked struggling to free herself. "Aur nahi toh kya? Maan… no cussing! Maan… behave!" he mimicked her. She pursed her lips as laughter crinkled in her eyes, before she said, "woh toh bas, I was proving Vicky's point!" she said sheepishly. Maan frowned, "Which point?" he asked. Geet smiled mischievously, as she pried his hands away, "Who wears the pants wala" said that she turned to break into a run but Maan was too fast for her. Swiftly pulling her back, he trapped her again and pulled her close before he said, "Achcha? Let me show it to you Mishti" and before she knew he was kissing her senseless, making her melt against him. Breathing hard, when they came up for air, Maan leaned in to whisper in her ears, "Aur rahi boring wali baat… toh woh main tumhe shaadi ke baad prove ke dikhaunga (thinking something) aur agar tum chaho toh shadi ke pehle bhi…" "Maan" Geet gasped and blushed profusely at his brazen insinuation making his laugh. Covering her face, she eventually hid herself in his chest and smiled as he engulfed her in his arms.
