With everyone talking about overworked soap stars and RK collapsing on the sets, I am wondering as a lay person how much work and time they put into a 20 min daily soap?
Bani should be showing signs of stress and fatigue too.. As far as I know RK is not working on any other daily soap then KS and granted the actors feel drained after renacting emotional scenes but in Indian soaps there are flashbacks, lightinings as in PR mention, and eyes blinking in slow motion, really if you think about it how much time do have to spend on the sets?
I am no expert on how these shows are produced but was just wondering...

Hi Sweety!
There is a LOT of hardwork... esp with Kasam se... coz it is a 5 episodes a week.
We get to see them for 20 mins daily adn probably a single actor's time on screen is a max of 15 mins... but even that is a lot of work. To can an episode it takes atleast a day or more. The way the Tv industry works on a daily basis... the actors have no clue as to what they will be doing untill they come on to the set... coz until 3 in the night the creatives havent thought about what is next.
When they arrive for a shoot they are given the script so they have to learn their dialouges right then and there. Then their is teh rountine discussion with the director as to what is expected out of them, then suggestions, agreement and disagreements! They shoot for a scene at a strech and not like Cinema when they cut after each dialouge. On TV they shoot for a 2 mins shoot at one go. And since they shoot with 3-4 camera for a particular scene they rehearse to get the scene right. Then they have a technical rehearsal just to decide the camera angles and which camera the actors needs to be looking into to say which dialouge... it is far too complicated than we think it is. And if one actor guffs up a single line or look the entire gang has to reshoot the scene again.... and u know how big the KS Parivar is! I heard the consumation scene was shot for 3 days coz they just werent getting it right! imagine a 10 min scene taking 3 days to can! And since they shoot for a single episode in a day... that means they have to shift from one set to another and have to wait on the set for the crew to complete setting up for the next scene. That is pretty much the routine for one scene and they shoot a minimum of 5-6 to a max of 10-12 scenes a day! and at the end of the day they have to dub for their respective scenes aswell... and all this in sultry studios decked in makeup and heavy costumes... though i have heard the make up rooms are airconditioned teh entire set isnt coz sometimes they do sync sound and the Acs are very loud. And one does get drained out emotionally having to perform such heavy duty scenes day in day out.
This is what i have heard from a friend of mine... i have no personal experience of it so i really dont know the reality is at ground zero.. it is just a faint idea of how the industry works.
Yes the stress levels at work must be same for Ram and Prachi. Prachi looked very stressed out last month... but atleast she has only her work to think about. Ram's is a different problem... He is giving his 100% to his work, but at the same time Gautami remained his 1st priority the last few months... he must have wanted to spend most of his free time with her and theer must have been the tension any to be parent would go through... wondering if all will go fine. which left him with very little rest. With his princess around he must have really pushed himself a bit too much to accomodate his work... and with the weather in Mumbai it is not a surprise he felll seriously ill! He really needs atleast 2 weeks off... else his health will keep relapsing and his performance will suffer. I hope he doesnt get back till he recovers completely... i am surely not enjoying his performance.
Again Ram, Wish u a speedy recovery. Get well soon.
bye for now
Lots of Luv
Anu.
