Chapter 11
(M POV)
I stared in horror at the paper. It read a brief information about me, and it had some handwritten notes at the end. There was a phone number, and then it said; "Help escape Monia, keep her someplace that you know you will always find her. When the right time comes, hand her over, she is worth 100,000 rupees." I was so shocked, I nearly dropped the whole other load of paper I had in my hand. Uday turned around to see what had happened.
"I knew he wasn't what he seemed. Do you believe me know?" Uday asked me, when we saw the page. I nodded, not able to talk. My eyes started to water, I knew the truth now. I ran into my room, and dropped myself onto my bed. I wanted to be alone and think over what had just happened.
After a while, Uday knocked on the door. I tidied myself up and sat down on my bed. "Come in," I told him. He came in and sat next to me.
"I'm sorry, but now he's not with us anymore," He told me.
"I know," I said without any emotions.
"Manyata, for your safety I would like you to do something for me," he continued. I looked up at him.
"What is it?" I asked.
"If the police or anyone asked you if you knew anything about Aakash's death, I want you to tell them that you don't know anything,"
"But..." I starting to protest, but Uday cut me off.
"No buts. You have to promise this to me OK?" He told me.
"OK then, I promise,"
"Now thats a good girl. Oh by the way Princess, I'm going on a business trip this afternoon. My sister, Unniti, will be in my apartment if you need to talk to anyone," he told me.
"Your going on a business trip?" I said, shocked.
"Yeah, it's for my dad's company. But don't be worried, I'll be back in a week or so." He said, before getting up and walking towards the door.
"Stay safe," I told him, as he went out.
**
About a week had passed now. I had made good friends with Unniti, we were like lost sisters. Unniti told me more about her dada, and I told her about my old life. We started college together the day after Uday had left for his business trip.
Unniti had told me that Uday would be coming back today. But for some reason I felt really happy. I don't know how I would have spent the last week without Uday, but luckily Unniti was there for me.
I walked into Uday's apartment, and towards Unniti's room.
"Hey Manyata," she exclaimed.
"Hey Unniti," I replied back, giving her a hug.
"Dada's coming back today, he should be here around 5pm." Unniti told me, I looked at my watch, it was only 2pm. " Aww, seems like someone is missing my Dada," she cooed when she saw me checking the time. I blushed, knowing that I got caught.
"Tu naa Unniti. I was only checking the time because I was hungry. Come on, let's go and have some paani puri." I told her, making something up on the spot.
We both got into Unniti's car and drove to the nearest cafe. After sitting down at a table and ordering our food, I asked Unniti more about Uday. "So what did Uday look like when he was a kid?" I asked.
Unniti laughed, telling me, "He always wore blue clothes. He looked quite like he does now, but obviously way more younger,".
"God, what is it with him and the colour blue?" I exclaimed, suprised that he still likes it even after all those years.
"I try to tell him to wear different colours but he never listens. Maybe you could change his mind, afterall he does like you," She told me, then giving me a wink. I blushed again.
Then my phone started to ring. I looked at it, it was father's number. I decided to ignore it.
"Aren't you going to pick it up?" Unniti asked me.
"I don't know what to do Unniti, it's my father," I asked her, confused. Unniti thought about it for a couple of seconds, but the phone still rang.
"I think you should pick it up, there must be a reason why he's calling you." She told me. I nodded, deciding to finally pick it up.
"Hello?"
"Monia?"
"Yes." I said coldly.
"Look betha, I want to explain everything to you," He pleaded.
"Look, I don't want an explanation," I told him.
"Please betha, give me one more chance, I'm only a human afterall," he protested. Maybe it wouldn't hurt, afterall I believed that everyone should at least have another chance if they had done something wrong.
"OK, only one more chance though," I told him.
"OK then, I found out that your mother had been lying to me. Remember all those times when she was late coming home? Or that time when we couldn't find her at the beach anywhere?" he stated.
"Yes, I remember," I told him, noticing that Unniti wanted to know what he were talking about.
"Well, she had an affair with another man... and I had no choice, I had given her a second chance but she blew it. I- I just couldn't stand it anymore," he told me sadly.
"She didn't.." I whispered, losing grip of my phone. It hit the ground, making a loud noise as the battery went flying out.
"Manyaya," Unniti exclaimed, as I slowly sat down on my chair and started crying.
**
I watched as Unniti got out of her car, waiting for me to get out. "Manyata, it's raining hard, please come out" she told me, wanting to go in. I went out of her car, but didn't rush into the building, instead I stood outside, getting drenched by the rain.
After learning about what my mother had done to deserve her death, I felt really depressed. Rain usually made me happy, and helped me calm down. So that's why I decided to swirl around and dance in the rain.
I love dancing in the rain, there is nothing better that can make you happy. I ignored Unniti's pleads for me to come inside, but soon she just left me dancing in the rain. People probably thought that I was weird, but I didn't care.
I felt a warm breathe behind my neck, which made me shiver. It must be Uday, I knew it was him. I turned around and hugged him tightly. "Guess you missed me Princess," he whispered in my ears.
I looked upto his face and smiled. I didn't care about that phone call anymore. Uday was finally here, and that made me happy.
He pushed me out of our hug and then twirled me in, hugging me again with my back to him. Then we started dancing in the rain together, until we had reached the enterance of the building, where he held me towards the ground and then pulled me up closer to him. "Lets go inside Princess, don't want you to catch a cold," he whispered in my ears again.
He let me go and I walked into the building holding his hand. I knew what this strange feeling was when I was around him. It was nothing like the feeling I had for Aakash, it was different. And that feeling was love, which was only for him. Only for Udayveer, my Prince Charming.
