She ran up to him and hugged him tight, sharing her pain with him. Being a brother to her, he caressed her hair and tried shushing her. She held on to his shirt and cried. He made her look at him and held her face up holding her cheeks.

He wiped the tears away and said softly, "Tell me what happened?"

They sat down on the stairs and Kriya told him how they planned to fake a fight in front of Sharon to make her realize that the way she keeps on fighting with you all the time isn't right. She is in love with you. The fake fight turned into real when she went to dance with Shivam. Rey misunderstood again when he saw Shivam and her close. She was trying to push Shivam away but Rey misinterpreted.

"He thinks I cheated on him. But how could I? I love him!" she finished with a sob. Swayam hugged her and tried to calm her. He knew it wasn't right for them to start a fake fight but what's done is done.

"Don't worry. He'll realize he's wrong. I'll tell him. Just stop crying…" he assured her.

"No. you won't tell him anything. If he wanted to listen, he would have given me a chance. He didn't even look at me. What's the point of telling him when he has no trust in me? If I had seen him that way with some other girl, I probably would have reacted the same way. But I would have trusted him to tell me what happened. He didn't even bother. These three year relationship…the trust made through the years…they mean nothing now. Nothing!"

"Kriya! Listen to me…" he called out but too late. Kriya had gotten on her feet and wiping her tears away, she had gotten out of the fire exit and into the locker room.

Swayam said to himself, "Damn! Rey, what have you done….?"

He knew very well that Rey would regret this later on. What Kriya just told him wasn't to be ignored either. He should have trusted Kriya and given her a chance to explain. But the mean words Rey had told her, the one's he overheard, they couldn't be forgotten. Kriya wouldn't just forgive him like that. He knew that.

Kriya rushed home straight. She didn't want to go through the day at school. She knew she wouldn't be able to handle her broken heart.

Burying her head in the pillow, she wondered if he even cared to remember all the moments they had spent together. All the wonderful moments of their time together. Her heart cried, eyes went numb, swollen… She gave him each of her precious moment of life just to see a smile on his face. And what did he give in return? Nothing. She wondered if he deserved the trust he gave him.

She cursed herself for falling in love. That was her heart though. The heart that doesn't listen to anyone. It just keeps flowing like a river. Even if it stops beating, it keeps flowing on the other side. She pressed her ears shut, hoping all the questions forming around her would go away. Hoping the pain would go away.

It wasn't that easy though. She couldn't handle it all at all. She decided she had to go away. Luckily for her, it was the last week and in a week, they'd be graduating. Going to college wasn't important anymore. The next day, when she didn't go to college, Swayam went to visit her.

She told him, "I'm leaving. Promise me to never come after me. Don't try looking for me. I made a mistake by coming here, by opening up my heart. I shouldn't have. If you want, you can tell Rey what really happened. But after I leave. I'll leave right after graduation. Swayam…."

Her voice trailed away. She was asking for a lot from him. He promised her with a heavy heart, not sure what the future holds for them. All of them.

Next day, he told their friends that she wasn't feeling well and so is resting at home. Sharon insisted on going home to see her but Swayam assured her that it's just fever and it'll be fine.

Forgive me Sharon for lying to you.

Rey didn't bother asking about her either. He just overheard Swayam telling Sharon and couldn't care a bit. He was turning his heart cold.

Graduation day

Everyone's heart beat fast as they walked across the stage in their graduations caps, holding their diplomas. The happiest day. Finally completing college! With that, Kriya's time to leave was coming closer.

She hugged all of her friends: Sharon, Neha, Vishakha, Rinni, Simmi, Vicky, Nilesh, Amar, Bharat, and lastly, Swayam. None of them knew the sudden need of the hug other than Swayam.

He gave her hand a little squeeze and all of them wondered what happened to Kriya al of a sudden. She mouthed, "Excuse me." to them and ran away from there, not wanting to start crying in front of them again. Sharon was about to follow but Swayam held her back. "Let her go."

She was confused and wondered if the sentence had a double meaning to it.

Kriya walked inside the airport and promised herself to be brave. But didn't know how. How could she when her heart is at the weakest point?

With each interaction of them, they had grown a step closer to the other. All of it fell down in a second. She knows she's doing the right thing by going away. But can't force her heart to accept that.

She lands in Vancouver. All alone telling herself that time will pass. Each day of the week after the incident, she was still hoping he'd turn to her. but he hadn't. each day, she felt like she was dying again and again.

Time stands still

Every hour has come to this

One step closer

Days after days. Weeks after weeks. Months after months. She forced herself to be brave and carry on with life. Time moved. But her heart was as fragile as ever. How could she move on? She wished to enjoy life. But each time she tried, her past would come back to her.

It was then she ran across Sonia and Rahul. The happy couple all by themselves. Somewhere in them, she imagined herself and Rey. Without a second thought, she decided to help them by sharing her huge, good for nothing, house with them. At least that would get her some company.

She started to live life with them three. Both of them knew something troubled her but neither of them forced her to tell them. One day, she herself came to them and told them the story from her P.O.V.

Sonia and Rahul's love didn't turn her into a complete cold hearted person. She was soft to everyone but herself. She still wouldn't forgive herself. She would still be yearning for the love that was stolen from her in a split of a second. Life had taught her an important lesson though.

It taught her to not just trust anymore with a blindfold on. It takes years to build trust. Once it's broken, it takes forever to rebuild. Year after year passed and knowingly, four years went away.

Present

Kriya asked, "Haven't you done enough?"

"I just heard you were back. All I wanted was come and say sorry. A week later, Swayam had found me at the same club and told me about the harm I'd done. Really, I had no idea that one action from me would ruin so many lives. I just wanted to apologize. I know it's nothing compared to my doing, but still… It'd make me feel better once I say it. And it does make me feel better…"

She stepped up a step and asked again, "Is that all?"

Sadly, he nodded and understanding that he wasn't going to be forgiven any time soon, he turned to leave and shut the main door behind him. There was no way Kriya was going to forgive him. Mot for anything in the world. He was right of one thing tough. He had ruined multiple lives with one 'mistake'.

Swayam and Sharon looked at each other with uneasiness. Finding the situation all silent was the awkward thing. It was Rey's cell ringing that interrupted the silence.

It was Vaibhavi reminding him that they were to meet at the hotel in half hour. Rey told Kriya, "I have to go. You coming now or later?"

"later." She replied, almost a hoarse whisper. She had been silent for a long time and was badly in need of water. Her throat had turned dry. He pressed his lips together and with a glance at Swayam and Sharon, he left.

I'll just say that I am seriously disappointed with my readers. (Not some) Are you all having exams and that's why not able to press like and comment or loosing interest in this one? Because I'll say the real story begins NOW! At the moment, I'll just update. But prepare yourself for a NOTE from me before the next update and even after the next update. And next update will be by 15th. Not sure...

Till then, I hope all of you comment and like. It seriously hurt me to see 64 likes on the OS but only 44 likes on the last update of the FF
