The woman who dared to bare on the silver screen with her sensual moves and quirky dialogues, is quite jittery about making her debut in the comedy genre. Vidya Balan, who has proved her mettle in woman oriented roles, was recently at DailyBhaskar's office to spill the beans on her films, sensuality and life after 'The Dirty Picture'.
The Ohh La La's sexy siren is all set to tickle the funny bones by treading into new waters with 'Ghanchakkar' opposite Emraan Hashmi. "I am looking forward to the film since this is the first time I am doing a comedy". However, Vidya is nervous about embracing the new genre. "I am nervous about doing the film, but at the same time I want to experiment and experience new things. Comedy is one of them," she revealed.
Though, the film's shooting will begin later this year, Vidya is confident that it will be a joy ride working with Rajkumar Gupta once again. "Rajkumar's sense of humour is very quirky, yet massy and that is what I like about him."
But more than brushing up her comic timing, it is the promotion of her upcoming film 'Kahaani' that is keeping the actress busy. 'Kahaani' is the story of a pregnant woman in the search of her husband in an unknown city. "Kahaani is a mystery that will keep you on tenterhooks throughout the time. It is very contextual and interesting," she said.
Moving from playing a sensuous 'Silk' to a pregnant 'Vidya', the actress is happy finding her own space in the otherwise male-dominated industry. "I am overwhelmed by the response given to 'The Dirty Picture' and the way people look at me now. Women are making themselves visible in the society and cinema is a reflection of reality. So, I am happy about the meaty roles that are being churned out for female counterparts."
Well, it would be a treat to watch Vidya again on the silver screen in a new avatar this time. 'Kahaani' is set to release on March 9, 2012.
