Rishi and his Mom

While watching today's episode, the mom kept saying go back to America so that all of my worries go away. When you were gone I did not need to drink, but now that you are back I need to drink. Why is she so eager to have her son so far away from her? What did he do that his family is freaking out? Or is she just being selfish about making sameer's life easier?
