Geeta Bali-Shammi Kapoor

The pert and pretty Geeta Bali, who had done some small-time dancing roles in pre-Partition Punjab in films like Badnami , met the suave Shammi Kapoor while they were working in films like Miss Coca Cola and Coffee House . She had already worked with Shammi's elder brother Raj Kapoor and father Prithviraj Kapoor.
A year older than Shammi, she was not yet a star and he was quite sceptical about his family's reaction to the match. Fearing parental opposition, the duo tied the knot at Mumbai's Banganga temple at 4 am, with producer-director Hari Walia as witness. The marriage lasted until Geeta Bali succumbed to small pox in 1965. A few years later Kapoor remarried Neela Devi.
