Interesting wildcard episode.

So I got to watching the wildcard episodes really late, hence I am posting my thoughts on it now.

I actually really enjoyed the wildcard solo round. Sumit, Shafeer, Neerav and Raghav especially were very impressive! 👏 With guys like Sumit and Raghav, it just makes me think that we definitely don't have a lack of talented dancers in India. But then, I have to wonder why this season such average dancers were selected into the competition instead of some of these wildcard contestants. 😕 Ahh well...who can explain the weirdness of this show anyways?

So anyways, coming to the performances...I thought Sumit was awesome! That's gotta be the best robotic act I've seen on an Indian reality show in a while. Compare this to Lipsa's pathetic attempt at this style, now. Sumit was just so bang on! It was just refreshing to see this kind of CRISPNESS in dancing after so long...in this season. Sumit was so into that robotic character too. Props. 👍🏼 I enjoyed watching this guy in his "Bade miyan chotte miyan" act too. He does kind of resemble Govinda, I must say. 😆

Shafeer was so surprising in this episode! 👏 I just loved how FEARLESS he was in this performance! Like totally into it! This kind of SOUL was so missing this season. There were no inhibitions or pretenses in his performance in this episode. And some of the moves he did were just wow. The concept was touching too...I totally felt Shafeer's honesty and dedication to his performance. Amazing stuff.

Neerav was really good too. I'd have to agree with Remo that he's very pleasant to watch. He's got grace and that emotive ability he's been complimented on. Though sometimes for me, his "acting" takes over his dance steps. I prefer Sumit, Shafeer and Raghav to him...but still he also gave a good performance. Impressive that he lost all that weight and stuff too.

Raghav was so damn brilliant! This guy is a total genius I must say. Ahh...his performance was magical almost. Just the way he so creatively used the song! It was just so inspiring and refreshing to watch. It's so hard to dance on this song I feel. All the slow and calm parts and everything...Raghav not only danced well but he also captured that FEEL, that soul of the music. It's just SO nice when dancers really capture EVERY essence of their music so well. That just makes me SO happy. Very different and unique style he has and he used it so brilliantly with the music. There were brilliant moments throughout the song. He's a natural at this style. And I have to say, this guy seems to be a natural at impromptu choreography too. I found his "loose motion" dance HILARIOUS!! 😆 What spontaneous choreography! 👏 So genius. Even during his auditions, the way he choreographed that response to Geeta's slap. 😆 So different, so unique and refreshing. I like. 👍🏼

I enjoyed Raghav and Chottu's duet "amplifier" performance too. Such creative choreography by Terence there. I love it when he's inspired like that. I'm really glad he has a solid contestant like Raghav now to do some creative and refreshing work with. Let's see whether he manages to bring out something new each time with this guy.

Everyone else was just meh. Hardik was just so damn boring. The dude's got no style...his body language is just really weird too. He's just too dull for me. No spark. That Sahil guy got shortchanged on choreography I feel. I didn't really see his full potential. The choreography didn't really connect with me. Same with Sneha. I felt the choreography there also was not very inspired. Sneha is also very restricted with her dancing...doesn't go all out. But her expressions have definitely improved by miles from when we first saw her. Ridhika's performance didn't connect with me at all despite her performing on such a nice song.

Anyways, this episode was pretty refreshing to watch after the monotonous episodes we've been getting this season. Even the three masters seemed to be genuinely liking the performances for once. 😆 Geeta especially was just full on in appreciating mood. It was nice to see that from her. I even enjoyed some of Mithunda's comments for once. :O lol. The Jay-Mithunda bits didn't seem as contrived in this episode to me as they usually do, also. I am gaining a bit more interest in this season...I just hope the season only goes up from here on. I guess a major part of me liking this episode was just the freshness in the contestant talent. These four contestants I've mentioned above especially just seemed to have their own personality. All the other contestants this season have majorly been hit and miss. Sometimes better with decent choreography...but still nothing exceptional of their OWN. I just really needed to see that individual passion and spark in these contestants. That drive and SOUL to perform which was still apparent in this episode.

I wish Sumit had been selected over Neerav though. Would've liked to see him go further in the competition.

A lot of things on the show are contrived, including the ponytails, the attempts to portray Mathunda as some sort of dance genius (sort of like Kim Jong Il was a military genius in North Korea), treating the "manj" as a divine alter, getting biased feedback and saying "next time, I'll fix it" as if your life depended on it, the hosts demanding in shrieking voices that everyone clap, etc.

😆

My comp deleted my entire post =/
I thought the WC episodes were the best of the season actually-much better than the bland maha episode. I definitely thought Raghav, Shafeer, Sumti, and Neerav were the best from them. I wish there were actually 4 spots so all 4 could come back in =/ I connected t these 4 and I really WANTED to see more of them for a first. Their personality SHONE though their dance..
Raghav is very unique..definitely a STAR performer. I doubt his versatility but he is really creative and good at what he does. He stands out in the top 13 for sure. Looking forward to seeing more from him.
I wonder how Zee will script the eliminations of TKT to balance things out now though..wonder in what order they're going to go. Piyali, Sneha, Varun might leave first I think.

Yes a lot of the things in this show are contrived but my point was that in THIS episode I didn't find it too bad. 😛

Himani! 🤗 I can always count on you to have similar thoughts as me! :D

Totally agree! Especially at the bold part. ;) That's what was refreshing for me too vis a vis these wildcard contestants: the fact that they had their OWN personality to bring out through their dancing. Ahh I missed watching contestants like that. 😆

Yeah I was really surprised that Terence got both the wildcard contestants. lol So yeah, I guess one of his toli people will be eliminated first then to balance things out. Remo only has three contestants so I'm sure they'll be hanging around for awhile, sadly...that Sanam dude continues to irritate me all the time. :P

Oh well, let's see what happens. The monotony of DID episodes is returning though. Mainly because of how bored the judges look and scripted their comments/feedback seem. *sigh*

Pallo! 🤗 I always look forward to your posts because your critiques match mine so much :D
Seriouslyy for the first in this season I instantly connected to some performances. Warna baaki toh its been like aweiyen mein okay I saw their performance..decent nothing great..I'm not going to remember it 2 hours later anyways.
Yeah I think the first 2-3 eliminations are likely to be from TKT..sad because Urvashi is without a doubt the weakest and needs to leave. Her performance yesterday was actually hilarious, not in a good way 😆 Sanam...needs a lot of work still. Yesterday I'm not even sure WHAT he was doing? 😆 Well at least Helen had the grace to look impressed. 😆
Yesterday's episode was not that great again =/ Hopefully today's is better... In the WC episodes, the masters were so chilled out and being so good with their comments..where did they disappear yesterday? 😕 I liked these performances even if they were not perfect: Raghav (I doubt his versatility, but this guy has stage presence), Sneha, Rajasmita, Piyali, Abhik, Varun (I couldn't figure out if he forgot or the choreography was that way?)...Mohena was very graceful but she lacks stage presence I feel..
