Hi Govindji,

I enjoyed reading all your comments. My favorite among Nihira's songs was "Aaj jaane ki zid na karo"… it cast a spell on me because of the pin drop silence in the auditoruium and the clarity and beauty of Nihira's voice. She is much better right now than some of our playback singers.

Himani was an excellent singer in the Challenge competition. In this concert however, she picked songs out of her genre – songs like "Lag ja gale", "Raat akeli hai", some other old song of Madan Mohan called "maeri" (I had not heard it before). I don't think she had practised these much because she didn't know the words. She gave me the impression that she took this show very lightly, whereas other two singers were well prepared. Himani would have done better if she picked more of the Sunidhi Chauhan/Richa Sharma type songs. I think her best performance in the concert was "Aao na, gale lag jao na" which I will post later. She does have her limitations. Not to compare the two, but this concert showed Nihira's versatility even more.

Unfortunately, people keep comparing Himani and Nihira. Nihira is a far superior singer, but didn't get her due in the competition. I think Himani gets the backlash from Nihira fans because of this – otherwise people don't compare Nihira to Ujjaini, Swananda, Raktima, Keka, etc who were also good singers.

I hope you have been able to solve the problem of playing the videos. Deepak seems to be an expert on this subject, so I hope his solution works for you. Is there any site other than rapidshare which will allow us to load such big files?

I am also amazed how powerful Nihira's voice is… both the songs from "Hare Rama…" are such high pitched. To tell you the truth, at the high pitch, I like Nihira's version better than Ashajis. I mean, I prefer Nihira's type of voice quality – its lighter on the ears.

I have that "Mayi re" song by Madan Mohan. Actually I have his own singing version as well as Lata's version. He had a good voice but he also swallowed words. Most of his singing sounded like humming. You must have heard Madan Mohan's singing in Veer Zara DVD. They have 2nd CD in that pack that contains his singing versions.

Himani should not take any program lightly. She will become very unpopular if she gives certain programs less importance than others. She is a good singer and that is what she should do irrespective of weight of the programs. She may have thought that this is Nihira show so, why try harder. As fas my knowledge goes, this program was not just a Nihira program. It was arraged by an outsider for all 3 singers. I agree with you that Nihira is far too superior to many of the contestants of C2005.

What happened with the song of all 3 singers?

I hope I am not boring you all with my long explainations and analysis.

Namaskaaraa, chalo iddira. Namge swalp swalp Kannada barut idde. Namma bhaaryaa Kanadaa maataaDtaa idde. That is my extent of expertise in Kannada. I uderstan all of it but can not fluently talk. My mother is from Gulbarga. My sister was married to a family in Dist Koppal and my wife was educated in Kannada becasue their property is in Bidar District. In my family I am the weak like as far as kannada is concerned. I am Marathi by heart and Marathi by karma even though I am not a domiciled Maharashtrian.

I am glad that you like my writing. I feel that, I have trained myself to be as practical as possible. Now let me come down to the point. I feel Nihira deserved to win the contest. Besides her beautiful singing, I admire her guts also very much. She did not loose her heart in the loss of C2005 contest. She is firm in her search of the higher goal and is choosing her path very judiciously. I am sure she will be very successful. I also admire the poise of all these 16-17 year old kids. They speak so fluently and act very mature. When I was their age, I was dumb like a rock. Could not speak in front of crowd. Hats off to the kids of today. They are sharper than their age during my time. That is why I do not have heart to speak badly of any artist. Every one has their limits to the capabilities. I have none so, who am I to pass judgement? When I start writing, I get going. So, please bear with me. I will end. And that is right here.

Its true that we may look at someone cynically based on what we get to see. However we may never know what goes behind. Also unless we know someone personally, it does not justify us to comment on their personality.

You are so true to say that Nihira's singing combined with her personality makes her so admirable. I would say that the impact of a person's personality and behavior overshadows all other qualities. Thats what makes Nihira stand apart. 😊

Hmmmm: Well I have adopted portugal for the time being. Would like to see a final between these two. Frankly I love the south american brand of soccer more. I like their passion and the raw skills they display. Reminds me of India playing Hockey in its golden era. I find the Eurpean teams more methodical and playing as per a fixed plan.

So where was their passion when Brazil cudnt score a single goal. If systematic means winning then i will prefer to be systematic 😊

I dont know Golden Era of hockey as i was probably too small
