Sharad Kelkar Born into a middle class family in Chattisgarh, this 29year-old strapping lad had all that was required in terms of looks and physique to make it big. So when he came among the top 10 finalists in the Grasim Mr India contest, it really wasn't a surprise to family and friends.
Sharad went on to do an MBA but those on the lookout couldn't help but take notice of his regal looks and signed him up for some commercials. Zee offered him the role of Rudr in Sindoor Tere Naam Ka. But it was as Nahar Singh in Saat Phere that he made an impact. His looks, attitude and voice were perfect for the princely role.
And though playing Rudr satisfied him more because he romanced his real wife Kirti on screen, Nahar, he feels, is the real him. "I am not negative. In fact, I am a home-loving, caring husband and so the portrayal becomes easy," says Sharad.
CURRENT STATUS: His role in Saat Phere has wooed critics as well as viewers. With his acting credentials in no doubt, Sharad is in the process of reading and signing a few other roles.
DROOL FACTOR: His great physique and hunky looks. Also his reputation as a perfect husband makes women sigh romantically.
PRODUCER SPEAK: Kinari Mehta picked him to play Rudr in Sindoor… She feels no one could have done the role better. "We had a specific look for Rudr and just about anybody couldn't have suited it. We saw Sharad's photographs and were bowled over. He has a wonderful physique and could carry off the tattoo and rudraksh look with aplomb. Also, he had a perfect blend of royalty and rustic appearance. As Nahar, he has simply presented the polished side of his personality. It just shows his versatility," she says.
