just wanna share some historical facts about valentine day i found in research.
Valentine day is basically the the Ancient Pagon Luprercalia festival (44 BC) in honor of "God of fertility" (a she wolf), " and has been Christianized by Pope Gelasius I in 496 who gave it a new name on the name of St. Valentine because he allowed the marriages for Army when Claudius II banned it for his army and St. Valentine got punished to death for arranging marriages.
In Luprercalia Priests sacrificed a dog and a goat, and smeared the animal blood on 2 boys who, clad only in a bit of goat skin, led a band of revelers. The antics of the boys included whipping by standers with a goat skin strip (called a februa). Women so whipped -- even previously barren ones -- were thought to become fertile. It included fertility rites and the pairing off of women with men by lottery.The roses were sacred for Venus (the goddes of love) and the cupid/nimrod (Naked God of Love) was his son. Venus lusted for her own son and got marriedwith him.
