Rishi Kapoor who has been well appreciated in Kunal Kohli's last flick 'Hum Tum', would have fared still better if he had not turned down Mallika Sehrawat starrer 'Kis Kis Kismat' and 'Popcorn Khao Mast Ho Jao'. In a year when his son Ranbir is to make debut in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film 'Sawariya', we still see this evergreen hero of Indian cinema masquerading around heroines. Rishi Kapoor has made a sort of record to feature in the largest number of films as hero against maximum number of debutant heroines. Rishi Kapoor also has the legacy of the biggest showman of Hindi cinema, Raj Kapoo. This is noteworthy that his latest film 'Love Ke Chakkar Mein' has been released on the day when Raj Kapoor's fans are paying tributes to thier this matinee idol of past years. Today is Raj Kapoor's 18th death anniversary. 'Love Ke Chakkar Mein' is also being touted as a remake of comic flick 'Rafoo Chakkar'. 'Rafoo Chakkar' was released some three decades ago and is still remembered for Rishi Kapoor's getting dressed up in drag. Though, neither 'Love Ke Chakkar Mein's director B H Tharun Kumar nor Rishi Kapoor will accept this but it is true that it does have a strong dose of old super classics. And it is interesting to note that this noted choreographer Tharun Kumar had turned a director in 'Nayee Padosan' few years back and that too was a remake of super hit comedy 'Padosan'.

'Love Ke Chakkar Mein' brings a new lease of life to aging actor Rishi Kapoor. This 'Bobby' boy of yesteryears has been doing selective roles of late, and in 'Love Ke Chakkar Mein', he moves few steps ahead as a strong actor from his old days. The film can be termed as a naughty comedy but not a raunchy one. In 'Love Ke Chakkar Mein', Rishi Kapoor plays a man in his early fifties and one who develops a raunchy attitude in his middle age. Yesteryears' actress Shoma Anand plays a bubbly character and Rishi and Shoma create a hilarious situation. And if it is not enough there is Satish Shah who at every given point bumps into these situations to make the story move to an altogether different scale.

'Love Ke Chakkar Mein' moves on a very thin storyline and there are not many sub plots and plot points to uplift the film's tempo. Films like this are not the kind of films that one could take away with him after leaving the cinema hall. Earlier B H Tharun Kumar understands it the better it will be for him and his career. This time director Tharun Kumar has a good team of writers in 'Love Ke Chakkar Mein'. But, Praful Parikh and Rajiv Kaul move in between the lines and at last fail to create any ripple for the film. They write a screenplay on their story that is not only loose but also lacks many ingredients that could have made it a good comedy. Praful Parikh and Rajiv Kaul have given many hits in the past but in their latest flick they seem to have lost the grip over dialogues written by Raghuvir Shekhawat that lack punch.

For a comedy, there need to be dialogues that are not only witty but also require great timing. But, the film does score in Neelabh Kaul's cinematography. He manages not only to create beauty on screen outdoor but also in shots that require better lighting and reflections. But 'Love Ke Chakkar Mein' again fails on the music front. B H Tharun Kumar assembles a group of music directors ranging from Anand Raj Anand to Nikhil-Vinay to Daboo Malik but none of them scores a point to create a hit number on the lyrics of Praveen Bhardwaj and Dev Kohli. This is despite having singers like Sonu Nigam, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan, Alka Yagnik and Sadhna Sargam. A good music score is a must to get an initial for films these days and this movie fails in this respect.

Among actors, Rishi Kapoor is the one and only torchbearer of the film but he suffers from a badly written role. Rishi Kapoor may have been trying to outdo actors like Anupam Kher and others, but for a hero it is very difficult to become character artiste and still have the charm intact. After all every body cannot be Amitabh Bachchan. Before Rishi Kapoor, likes of Vinod Khanna, Rajesh Khanna and Feroz Khan have tried thier hands but without success in most of the films. Shoma Anand does not generate the required chemistry between herself and Rishi Kapoor. Satish Shah looks typed and every time he tries to elevate his performance, he goes overboard and starts hamming. 'Love Ke Chakkar Mein' fails in most of the fields and overall this is going to be a loser for all associated with it.
