Humpty Kinjal Dumpty and her rise to the human race.
Kinjal was not getting any modeling offers because of all that had happened in the previous weeks. She wanted to do something to not only pass time but also make money and a name for herself. If she was successful then she could leave this dump and buy herself a new condo or even a house. And she had no plans of taking Dhaval or his Phai. One day Kinjal was sitting at the shop for Dhaval. Dhaval needed to go to Mumbai to buy some more stock and so she was left with no choice. Either work in this shop or work in the kitchen! Life for her was...in her mind...the same as Cinderella. She was so lucky to be born in an influential family and now here she was living life like a mediocre middle class nobody. She was so lost in thought that she almost missed her friend from school passing her by. Kinjal and Shivani were best friends until Shivani fell in love with a boy who was not even a dot in their rich world. Shivani and run away with him and last she heard they had gotten married and shamed her family. Kinjal called out to her friend and said Shivani, did you forget me already? Shivani turned around and with a smile greeted Kinjal. Kinjal asked does your husband live here? Shivani said we are no longer together. Kinjal with a smirk on her face said that is what you get for marrying outside your standards. Shivani then looked at the store and asked what are you doing here? Kinjal relayed the story of her journey from the Modi Bhavan to this hell hole. Kinjal said I were so lucky as you that my husband left me I would go back home and take my parents help in marrying someone better and richer this time. Shivani gave a weak smile to her friend and said I would never go back. Kinjal now with a wrinkled forehead asked why? He has already left you. He is probably out there enjoying his life with someone else. Shivani had a few tears in her eyes and looked at a confused Kinjal and said when I said we are not together I meant that he is no longer alive. I lost the love of my life to cancer and now I am just living my life because I am not strong enough to kill myself😠Kinjal was shocked beyond belief and said but isn't that good. I mean ok so you loved him and you went with your heart but now you are free from here. I know your parents they would except you back with out any problems. So what is stopping you? Shivani looked at Kinjal and tried to explain to kinjal in terms she would understand. Just then Dhaval came to the store and smiled at Kinjal and said...how was your day? I hope you didn't work too hard Kinjalji. I hope you did not suffer too much with some customers. Kinjal now with a frown on her face looked at Dhaval and said I have been suffering since the day I had to marry the likes of you. Shivani then yelled Kinjal that is not how you should talk to your husband! You are lucky to still have him in your life. Kinjal was now steaming and said Shivani your marriage was based on love my was based on nothing but my mothers punishment for falling in love. Because of my Mother my brother and I are married to people below our status. Dhaval looked down and said Kinjalji you can go inside and rest I will take care of the store now. Kinjal huffed at Dhaval for daring to talk to her further and looked at Shivani and asked if she wanted to come to her house. Shivani agreed. When they entered the Shah residence, Shivani looked around and said you have a very nice home. Not all apartments in this area are this big or this nice and clean. Kinjal looked around and said it looked like a dump to me the first time I came here and it still looks like a dump to me. Shivani just smiled softly and said I have to go now. But maybe we can meet again tomorrow and have a longer talk. Shivani then pointed her apartment which was just in the next building and they said goodbye. Kinjal was going to make sure she took Shivani into her confidence so she could take her friends help in getting out of here. Anything would be better than this. God knows it cannot get any worse. The next day Kinjal told Dhaval she was going to visit her friend and she would not be home for the rest of the day and to not bother calling her. She left Dhaval pondering if his wife was ever going to except him. He knew that day would never happen but he loved her regardless of how she treated him. And on that alone he would take care of her and provide her the best of the best he could afford. When Kinjal went to the apartment the first thing she noticed was the smell of medicine so strong it almost made her gag. And then she noticed the apartment had a lot of light from the outside but was barely furnished. There were only two chairs with a table in the middle. And no amenities not even a TV. . .
Kinjal called out to her friend who came with a wash cloth and soap in her hands and said give me a few more minutes and I will be with you. Kinjal nodded and sat down on the chair which she noticed was a little wobbly. She tried the other chair and that one was worse and with a frown she went back to the first chair. Shivani came out and said sorry it took me a little longer than usual. Kinjla asked if she was washing clothes. Kinjal said no I was bathing my Mother-in-law. She is suffering from dementia and does not take care of herself properly so she doer her cleaning for her. Kinjal with a sour look on her face asked why don't you go and put her in one of those old folks home? Shivani said after I got married she treated me like a daughter and she took care of her. Her MIL always made sure she was happy. Even if it meant she had to sacrifice a few things for the home so I could buy a new saree. Shivani said this is just my small way of repaying her for her love and support when I needed it the most. Kinjal watched as her friend gathered herself together and wiped her tears. Shivani then pointed to a picture on the wall with a fresh rose garland on it and said that is my husband Sagar. I mean that was my husband. Shivani was so lost in thought that she didn't even notice Kinjal come and stand next to her. Kinjal put her hand on Shivani's shoulder and said I am sorry for you loss. You really did love him didn't you? Shivani just nodded and said wait here I will make us some tea and snacks. I know you like something chat phat...right? Kinjal smiled and nodded. Shivani went into the kitchen and went out to the balcony. The same one she had used to come to the house. This building and her apartment building were almost identical. But from here she actually thought her apartment looked much nicer and cleaner. Kinal had a frown on her face and thought I must be going crazy if I am thinking that home is better!!! Kinjal and Shivani ate, laughed and caught up on their lives and promised to stay in touch from now on. When Kinjal was leaving Shivani asked Kinjal if I ask you to do something will you do it? I mean it may sound strange but would you? Kinjal said it depends what it is. Shivani said I want you to start talking to your husband with respect. Just that little thing right there will make him do anything for you. I can tell he already loves you. But it just feels different when you have respect for him. I mean Kinjal he runs his own shop and he is living like a well respected man na? The only difference between him and a rich man is Dhaval bhai is still working in his shop while the rich get others to do their bidding for them. Just try and see Kinjal. Please for me? Kinjal agreed and thought great now I have to treat that gawar with respect? But she needed Shivani's help and so she would do it. When she was nearing her home, she looked at Dhaval and he had a smile on his face while he was working on the books. Kinjal went to him and asked what is there to smile about? Dhaval looked at her and said I could hear you laugh all the way here Kinjalji and knowing you are happy makes me happy! Why do you ask? Kinjal mor confused that ever said what do you care how I feel? Dhaval lost his smile and just looked at Kinjal. Kinjal remembering her friends words than turned her words around and said I mean why do you care about me so much? It's not like we are best friends? Dhaval said I will talk to you about this at home ok Kinjalji? I want to tell you some stuff and this is not the right place or time. Kinjal said ok and left. After the dinner was done and she and Dhaval were alone in the room she asked Dhaval to explain himself. Dhaval looked at Kinjal and said Kinjalji I know you are not happy here. I also know if you had a chance to leave you would run and never turn around. Kinjal was getting a little uncomfortable hearing all this. Dhaval continues...But Kinjalji I want you to know I love you very much and that is the reason your happiness means the world to me. So if you ever got the chance to leave I would help you. I hope you know that. I would probably die a little every day with out you but at least you would be happy. Then Dhaval took Kinjal's hand and kissed it and said we should sleep as tomorrow we are to go to your parents house for the whole day. That way you can spend the day with your ba and parents. Kinjal at first annoyed when he kissed her hand for some reason was not really mad. She just did not feel mad or upset or anything...intresting thought Kinjal. The next day when they arrived at the Modi Bhavan Gopi gawar as always was around her asking what she wanted to eat and drink. I mean this is my pheer and I don't need to be given anything. I can go in the kitchen and get whatever I want. Then she smiled and thought why this Gopi gawar can be my servant for the day. She just flew her arms around the chair and enjoyed being home once again. She made Gopi make all her favorite foods and even sweets. When Ahem came home in the evening he was not too happy with the way Kinjal was treating his wife. Kinjal noticed this and decided to talk to her brother in private. And when she got the chance she went to Ahem's room and said Bhai...why does it bother you when that gawar is doing work around the house. That is all she is good for any ways. Ahem was about to loose his temper than decided to play it a little differently. He said Gopi is a sankari chokri and she knows when the daughter of the house comes she should be spoiled rotten. So you should be glad she is doing all this for you. Kinjla then said you would have been better off marrying Anita and then this house would be in perfect harmony. And I would be married to my love Umang. Ahem now lost his cool and walked to Kinjal and slapped her. Dhaval who had witnessed the whole scene came there to take Kinjal and make sure she is ok. Kinjal was so stunned that her brother had slapped her she didn't mind Dhaval leading her away. Ahem then came out of the room he told Dhaval please leave her as I am not done talking to her. Dhaval said but Saleeji you two are fighting and now she is hurt. Ahem promised to talk to Kinjal in a calm manner and then Dhaval lead her back to the room and sat her on the bed and said if you need me just call ok Kinjalji. When Dhaval left Ahem went to his sister and said I lost my temper because my own sister is talking about marrying someone else after she is already married. And if you want to know the truth as to why I excepted Gopi then listen. Gopi has worked hard in this house to make everyone happy. She has always made sure that no one hurt Mom. And that Mom's reputation was upheld to the
max.
Ahem FB and telling story to Kinjla
One day I had dropped Gopi at the store to buy something for the home and I told her I would pick her up later. And when I came back she was not at the store, so I looked around the mall and I found her in the food court talking to another man. When I got closer I realized that man was Umang. And Umang was insulting her and telling her how worthless she was and she is the cause of his sisters heart break. All Gopi did at that time was shed tears and saying sorry to him for causing his sister so much pain. Umang told her he didn't need her apology because he got his revenge with Kinjal. And he also said that now the Modi family name is disgraced. Gopi looked up and saw Ahem and shot up straight and put her pullu on her head. Umang turned around and was a little terrified seeing Ahem listening to Umang taunt Gopi. Then Umang smiled and said your wife is a real piece of work. I heard she is a anghuta chap. How are you dealing with that? I will tell you one thing Anita and I often laugh at the great Ahem Modi and his illiterate wife...Ahem came to where Gopi was and put his arms around her shoulder and brought her closer to him and with the other hand wiped her tears. He then turned to Umang and said I would love to sit here and tell you how my wife and I are doing but, you won't understand what a sanskar bahu is. I am proud of Gopi being my wife and i am very happy that my Mom chose her for me. I cannot see anyone else worthy of being a Modi Bahu more than my wife Gopi. He then turned around with his wife in his arms and walked away. Umang had lost his cool and tried to attack Ahem when Ahem was not ready. But no one would hurt Ahem. Because gopi took her shopping bag and started hitting Umang and saying how dare you hit my husband. And when Umang gave up and walked away Gopi helped Ahem stand and was checking him to make sure he was not hurt.
Back to reality...
Ahem then turned to Kinjal and said there were times when I had treated her worse that a animal. I always accused her and always thought she was never my equal. But you see Kinjal I now realize I am not her equal. She is of pure heart and she is so good and sweet. The way I have treated her I didn't expect her to give a second glance. Now not only did she give me a second chance but she has been taking care of me more now since the Umang incident. You know I have not had the guts to tell her how I feel about her! And yet she just takes care of me. Go figure!!!
After the dinner was over Dhaval and Kinjal made their way to Rajpal Nagar on Dhaval's scooter. When they were in traffic she saw a couple on a scooter where the woman was resting her head on her husband while sitting behind him. She thought that looked so cute. She looked at Dhaval and thought if I did something like that than this man would surely get the wrong impression. Kinjal was so tired she did not realize she was leaning into Dhaval and doing the same she swore she would not do. When they reached home Dhaval very softly taped her on the head and said we are home. When they got home Dhaval had no expectations. And that surprised Kinjal. She thought I wonder why all of a sudden I am wanting to lean on him again...
