"Hi. Roshni right?" He asked smiling.

She nodded. "Call me Rose." She was so used to everyone call Rose that sometimes she herself forgot that Roshni was her real name! Her phone rang and she excused herself from them and went away leaving them to themselves.

Rey self-thought. Rey, say something! This is the right time. You won't get a better chance. But' what if she doesn't reply? "Kriya'?" he called out her still not sure what to say. He started out simple.

Even though he knew the answer to the next question, he asked, "How are you?"

She closed her eyes and decided that it's time to act strong and not let her feelings play a major role here. "How do you think I am?" she retorted back.

He looked down ashamed. "Right. Wrong question." He looked at him and continued seriously, "Look, um, I don't know what to say -"

"Then don't." She interrupted. "Just don't." she spoke with emotion. "Right now, you're a judge and I'm the contestant. Leave it that way. Nothing more nothing less. I understand that you'll keep personal and professional lives' separate?"

He nodded not wanting to argue back. To some extent, he knew she was right. Things would get complicated if they were something other than judge and contestant. He did get hurt a bit but she was right. Better to keep it separate rather than make it worse.

"I never was good at controlling my feelings." He said not realizing that he said that out loud. He had meant to just say it to himself.

"Huh? Did you say something?"

"No. Nothing'" he quickly said realizing she had heard it.

Rose came there than. "So what's going on?"

Kriya replied, "Nothing at all rose. Just getting to know each other. Right?"

Rey went along with it. "Right. Ok' see you both later. Enjoy your day."

Rose smiled and Kriya looked at Rey for a second not knowing how to feel. He gazed back too for a second. He then turned around and left.

It was lunch time and Kriya was doing the dishes when Karan came in. without a word, he started washing the dishes as she scrubbed them. After doing a couple, Kriya asked, "What do you want to talk about?"

He looked pleasingly at her. "Huh! You know me so well! I just want to know you're fine."

"Fine?" she made him touch her arm. "Am I over heating?"

"No!" he replied confused.

"Then I'm medically fit." She joked and then giggled at her own reply. He too laughed along.

"No Kriya! I'm serious." He said after seconds. "You and Rey'"

She stopped scrubbing the plate hearing his name. Then silence followed as he examined her face. She replied then, "I met him this morning. We ' we've decided to keep things apart. Actually, I told him and he has to go along with it. And that's it. Nothing more or less."

He shook his head as he could clearly see that she was trying to satisfy herself by saying this. "Ok then it shouldn't be a problem if I call Rey over. Right?" he said.

She freaked out. "YOU DID WHAT!!!"

He backed up to save himself from the attack. "Hey, it shouldn't matter to you if I call my student over!"

She pressed her lips tight to avoid letting the foul words coming in her mouth to escape. She felt like strangling Karan at the moment. But then, it would give away the fact that it did matter to her whether they met or not. "No' I'm fine. I'm cool. I don't mind." She kept on repeating slowly to calm herself.

"When?" she asked him. He gave a confused look and she elaborated, "When is he coming?"

"Uhm tonight." He answered sheepishly.

"Tonight! Karan, you know very well it's our girls' night in today! Couldn't you have called him tomorrow?"

"Sorry! It happened fast. I didn't remember that time."

She threw her hands up in air and shrugged. "Fine. But you boys come in our way and all of you are'" she left the warning fade knowing Karan understood the meaning of it.

Kriya was checking her mails at night time when someone rang the bell. She yelled, "Someone get the door!" but no one replied and minutes later, the bell rung again. She groaned as she didn't like it when she was being disturbed. She muttered words under her breath as she got up and opened the door to see Rey standing there.

Both gazed at each other for a while when the wind kicked up. Rey shivered a bit and Kriya motioned him to come him. Then she yelled out to Karan, "Karan! Rey's here."

She went back to the computer table to finish checking her mails not caring where Rey sat or stood. Understanding that he wasn't going to get a word from her, he sat on the couch. Minutes later, Karan came down and gave a brotherly hug to Rey. Both exchanged greetings due to seeing each other after more than four years break!

"Sorry for keeping you waiting. I was in middle of shower." Karan informed apologetically.

"Oh no. it's alright. It's just good to see you."

"Same here. Miss all the fun huh?"

Rey nodded as a matter of fact. Sonia came down giggling. From the blushing face, all three of them figured that Rahul was teasing her again. She stood still as she saw Rey. Then she said coldly, "Rey." She looked at Kriya and turned her attention back to Rey. "I didn't know we had company today."

Karan replied, "Yea, well, I invited him last minute. Any problem?"

"Why would I? As long as you both keep it quiet'"

"Of course. Kriya's already warned me. I'll leave you guys alone."

Saying so, Karan went up the stairs with Rey following him. Just before he disappeared around the corner, he stopped briefly to look at Kriya. Just then, even she looked up from the laptop screen and looked up to him. Both looked away instantly and he disappeared in the room.

Kriya was distracted the whole night. Not because she didn't enjoy the night out. But only because she knew that Rey was in the house'only few rooms away. She had told herself she wouldn't feel bothered by it but it really was bothering her.

Around 2:00 in morning, she stirred in the couch and groaned as she suddenly felt warm. The room was cold and the sudden warmth made her snuggle deep in sleep. But she felt someone breathing close to her and she opened her eyes.

To see Rey! Rey was bending towards her gazing at her face in the dark. She could make out his features in the dark as she rubbed her eyes to make sure she wasn't dreaming. When she realized she wasn't, she sprang up on the couch. "Rey! What are you doing?"

He blinked his eyes coming out of his dream world of staring at her. "Uh! I was just leaving. Then I saw you sleeping here shivering. So just the blanket'"

She figured out what happened after that. She looked at the blanket and then at him. "Thank you." She said out of humanity. He smiled 'Your welcome' back to her.

"I guess I'll leave then." He said.

She looked at the clock and then asked, "You're leaving this late?"

He turned around glad to see the worry on her face. "Actually, Karan and Rahul wouldn't let me leave. I was waiting for them to sleep so I can leave."

"No one stopped you from spending the night here you know."

"I know." He replied contently. "But I have to be at the auditorium early in the morning to plan things out. Didn't want to disturb anyone that early so'"

"Hmm! Everyone here sleeps like pig. So you didn't have to think much." She replied.

He laughed at her silly joke. For the first time since they re-met, he saw a glimpse of happiness in her face. First time when she didn't reply silently. The first time when she spoke with him in a tone that wasn't accusing. The first time it made him feel less guilty.

"Thank you." He said.

"Why?" she asked confused.

He shook his head. He knew she wouldn't understand why he said that. "Nothing. Never mind. I'll see you later."

Saying so, he left. She tried to stop him to say it was fine with her if he stayed. He didn't have to leave in the middle of the night. But no words came out. She just watched his back disappear in night. Finally, she gave up the hope that he would come and closed the door shut.
