The Film & Television Producers Guild of India and Wizcraft International Entertainment have announce their Nominees for the Best Film and Television Talents of 2012 on January 18.
The Awards, that will take place on January 25 at the Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai, are organized by the Film & Television Producers' Guild of India and Wizcraft International Entertainment.
Nominees and winners are meticulously chosen by the members of the Film & Television Producers' Guild of India, making it the "official" awards for the Film and Television industry. This year the Guild will also flag-off the '100 years of Indian Cinema' celebrations, showcasing a special tribute dedicated to the legends of Indian cinema and their glorious years in cinema. A medley of hit songs will showcase the yesteryears and the stars that performed the iconic screen characters.
Surprisingly, the industry has given the disappointing non-performer "Rockstar" the maximum number of nominations closely followed by the average "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara." The awards are likely to be as always, more politically-correct, please-all-the-powerful names and TRP-driven rather than based on merit and merit alone. This is a sad state of affairs that has been plaguing Hindi cinema for over a decade now.
The popular TV show "Bade Achhe Lagte Hai" has garnered the highest number of nominations for the Apsara Awards 2012 including Best Drama Series, Best Director – Fiction, Best Actress and Actor in Drama Series, Best Writer & Best Ensemble Cast in the Television Category.
Ramesh Sippy, President – Film & Television Producers Guild of India, said, "It is fascinating in terms of the diverse kind of movies that were made. The growth has been remarkable. We have witnessed some awe-inspiring work; the jury is sure going to have a tough time. Indian television has also seen a plethora of soaps and reality series doing very well."
Established by the Film and Television Producers' Guild of India, the awards were initiated in 2004.
The Film & Television Producers' Guild of India Limited is an autonomous non-profit premier film trade body comprising of industry stakeholders, and is to be a principal negotiator with the government on various critical issues, resolving internal and external trade disputes of the industry, liaising with foreign delegations to provide international exposure for its members and arranging conclaves for the benefit of members.
