While we all rejoice after today's episode I shud provide some fodder for thot

Today's episode in my opinion has set the stage for a complete personality change of Jai Walia. Every frame Jai is so starkly different from the Jai we USED to know. He thinks about Bani, hsi feelings for her, how it changes his life, goes looking for her, and so on and so forth.

I feel the creatives have done a great job here in transforming Jai's personality over the months.

Imagine the nite he was waiting for the sisters to return from Pias after the ceremony, his mindset then and now.

He has said the most unthinkable, derogatory, insulting humiliating things a hubby can ever say to his wife. He has not physically abused her but even that wud have been better compared to some of things he's said to her, like she "sells herself and p***s her sisters"

I mean he has been so harsh, no woman wud live with him afterwards. I am not the oldest but also happen to be one of three sisters but no way as disavdantaged as Bani is in the show, but made me think many times about how I wud feel to be at the receiving end of such remarks from my hubby. I wudnt have bothered if my sil was dishing out crap, coz bottom line I wudnt really care about any one as much as I did abt my hubby, I cudnt have taken that kind of torture from my hubby

I cudnt have stayed a minute longer in that house..................

Bani is more than a Bhartiya Naari in my opinion. Any self respecting woman wud have walked out. Made me wonder what she was made of. She didnt yell, insult, kick, scream or pitch a fight. She took it all. Each time he opened his mouth when he spoke with bani he was gritting his teeth, (he must have shaved off an inch or two of enamel in those months I thought.๐Ÿ˜†)

Thats what makes Ekta's character portrayals so unrealistic. I mean Jai is supposed to be suave intelligent, educated and well-mannered to boot, how cud he even think of such things leave alone say them to his wife?

Even guys raised in slums or raised in br****ls wud show more finesse. I felt like saying "look who's talking?" when he qusetions Aditya and Jigs's competence in raising Anu.

Crowning glory was............. He takes her to bed, and then apologizes to her. And Oh! on the nite of C he cudnt bring himself to say anything below the belt about Roshni. I was like "Great, so ur grooming and class kicks in selectively?"

And then there was TODAY............................

Bani must have believed she has died and is in heaven. Not once did he lose his temper today, voice filled with concern and care. Not sure if it was love, as he keeps reiterating to himself that it is not so I wont go there....

One entire episode of Jai interacting with Bani as if she belonged to the hallowed circle of maasi aditya, anu and sahil. I was almost sure Bani was going to ask Jai "OK who the hell are you? and what did u do to my hubby"

Roshni got a taste of what Bani has been receiving the past few months, the gritting, grinding the words out, nasty language etc. He was totally nasty, acidic and horrid to her today. He can be a very nasty, intimidating, threatening adversary. Bani has him for a husband ๐Ÿ˜Š

Jai is a strange (dont know another word for it) man I mean I dont know of any other man who thinks so much, thinking, pondering, contemplating, sulking were all a woman's prerogative I assumed. But Jai seems to be doing that more than Bani in this show.............J's character has a lot of conflicting shades and they all come to the forefront when he is interacting with her, either they are trying to prove that Bani brings out the best and worst in him or it may be a genuine character trait.

Bani's character has not been carved out in such fine detail I feel. Except for the consummation nite, we really dont know what she feels about him or thinks about him. May be its a blooper, or may be its the by product of the MCP sociey we live in, dont know...............๐Ÿ˜Š

I am sure their love story will have a happy ending, but if it were real life wud Bani be ever able to forget? Forgive may be, but never forget I think. But it is a show so I guess we dont have to worry too much................

๐Ÿ˜Š Interesting analysis Aditee....

Well I agree that Jai's character has been etched in detail and has transformed drastically in the past few months. That's prolly what makes this show slightly different since others are so women-centric that it does get annoying to see such extremist attitudes in women. I suppose Kekta took the same formula but added a man (Jai) to the equation and gave him strong characterisation so really Ram Kapoor seemed to have lucked out!๐Ÿ˜ƒ I personally liked watching the transformation although I do agree that some of the reactions were quite unnecessary and unrealistic! I agree that a man of such an upbringing and sophistication shouldn't really be resorting to derogatory comments on women....no matter how mad he might be!๐Ÿคข I also agree that men aren't as thought-orienter and contemplative as women so Jai's character is slightly unrealistic in that sense as well.

But as a biologist I also believe that exceptions ALWAYS exist! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Well not to say that Jai is justified in all the yelling and name-calling but I suppose this was Kekta's take on a man's anger....a little unusual but who am I to argue...I don't know every man on earth! ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜† But I like the fact that there is such a drastic change in personality and the way Kekta shows that "love" was the primary cause of the change! From an angry, bitter man to a sensitive, caring individual Ram Kapoor has done complete justice to his role although at time I think he might be a little to restrained. But maybe that's just me expecting too much drama after watching so many soaps! ๐Ÿ˜• ๐Ÿ˜†

I agree that Bani's character isn't as well sketched out but I think for a newcomer Prachi's making the best of what she has! I think Kekta is slightly confused as to how to portray Bani coz I agree that no self-respecting woman can ever live through such humiliation no matter how selfless she may be! But then again I think it's Kekta and it's a soap....can't really expect realism in it! ๐Ÿ˜› I like the confident talking Bani who commands respect more than the quiet meek Bani who evokes pity! But Prachi is able to invoke all those feelings aptly within the viewers for which she deserves her due credit! ๐Ÿ‘ I just wish Kekta would make up her mind and keep Bani as the self-confident woman who takes no crap from anyone....including her hubby dear! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Definitely seems more realistic and in tune with the modern society than someone who has enough patience and restraint to take every insult in the world and yet remain loyal to the very man who inflicted that much pain on her! ๐Ÿ˜• Here's hoping for women's lib in the making in KS! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I am late comer in this whole KS thing but nonetheless my two cents. I agree...Jai's character amazes me...makes me all ๐Ÿ˜ณ but at the same time he also confuses me at times. In that sense I feel Bani has less 'angles' to her personality. He is a very complicated guy...w/many layers to his personality. Some of which he had managed to hide for so long until recently when Bani has managed to get through past these layers. Ab Bani uski naas-naas mein baas gayi hain and of course vice-versa. Until the consummation he was at a safe distance where there was no 'real' dor tying the two but that changed in one night...something that bound them forever...not just this life but forever.

The fact that Bani took all his extreme-ness and basically played doormat I think already foreshadowed something was bound to be between them in the future...thankfully for us.

in the begginning i too thought bani was Passive meek etc etc .. But she has stood up to jai a couple of times in her post wedding episodes ... ... especially where in she tells jai .. that he isnt god ... and she will get Pia and pushkar married .. at so and so time . and she actually does ... She had the Guts to defy jai Walia and arrange for the Wedding in the Walia House itself ... Now i wouldnt call bani meek .
its that its not in her nature to be evil and coniving like Jigs or Rosh ... and she dosent overpwer any situation ... or issue even if its very Important and connected with Jai . But she in her own dignified way .. stands her Ground when the situation calls for it . we shouldnt underestimate Bani ..
I think in the episodes to come ahead we will see bani in a More prominant role as very sensitive issues will be coming up .for eg .. Park road Raaz . Rano and sahils elopement .. worst of all ... Jai may not give their relationship importance even though bani has been doing it since their consummation . Jai mostly because he fears the Raaz may hurt bani terribly .
speaking on Jai .. well he is like any other Man ... Rich or poor .. businessman or Plumber ... he reacts with temper when betrayed .. or hurt .
honedstly ... His teeth gritting .. look really bad . wieh they portrayed his temper in a subtle way
hope that made some sense

I agree that Bani had some strong confrontational scenes with Jai initially contradicting the "meek" statement but for a while in between Bani hardly spoke or confronted Jai when he rambled on about their family and character. That's when I was quite put off by Bani's restraint. I agree that she maintained a dignified silence but there is a limit to tolerance but like you said I'm sure we can look forward to a stronger and more confident Bani in the next few episodes.....๐Ÿ˜Š

Maybe he's the exception to the rule. But also I sometimes think guys are more deep then we take them to be. Shayad bolte nahi hai is liye we assume they're just...well men. But sometimes some of my guy friends have surprised me...quite deep contrary to girls who instead get catty lol. Plus Jai is a mature guy...seen life...so I guess it is justified to some extent. Now if only he learned to verbally express some of that stuff he thinks up...come on Mr. Walia...communication is the key to any relationship. Lol and I know u like to communicate w/ur lips and eyes...but kabhi kabhi bol diya bhi karo.

Hey nice topic.
I personally love the way they've etched Jai Walia's character. His boiling emotions combined with a seemingly controlled demeanour make it one helluva combination. He can be crude, but he's such a seething mass of feelings tht he has to just let it out.
As for Bani, well, yes, she is less complicated. Pia keeps sayng 'mai bani nahi hun, goongi nahin hun, jawab dena aata hai mujhe,' etc. But thats the beauty of bani. She simply doesn't talk when she doesn't think its necessary - with her its almost always action. The way she calmly got Pia Pushkar married in JW's own house, that was amazing. When it necessary to talk, she doesn't hold back for a minute - see how she told Jigs about wathcing over Anu and all?
It's funny to see Jigs, or Roshni or even Jai himself letting loose torrents of words at her and she just stands there like a rock, letting it wash over her. Amazing woman.
I love both characters - haven't seen such intriguing characters for a while on Indian TV.
