Kriya closed the door behind her. She remembered the time Rey had said the same thing rose had. She couldn't forget that day ever in her life'

***

*FLASH-BACK*

Rey looked at the guards closing the huge gate. "There's no way I can get past them'" he looked around to find another way in. he saw a medium sized wall. "Chalo, at least those hiking lessons will come in use now." He murmured as he inspected the wall.

He tugged at his pants getting in the mood of climbing. Remembering the tricks and other tips given to him by the teacher, he started climbing. The fear of falling didn't leave till he reached the other side. "Rey, great going. If someone had seen you doing this, then you would be a laughing stock. What will girls say? They run after you and here you are. Following a girl!" he mocked himself in attempt to calm him heart which was giving him unpleasant emotions.

As soon as he saw the guards, he ran behind the wall to hide himself. When they left, he looked here and there to find a door. All of them seemed closed with only one window open.

"Great more climbing!" he sighed.

Luckily, he found a ladder close by. He climbed to the top and jumped in the room being careful. Once up, he fixed the ladder in a way that others can't see it. When peeping in, he found no one in the room. But the room was big and cozy. Tons of Kriya's picture's with people he didn't recognize and her self-portraits. Some of them included baby pictures. Two of them to be exact. He wondered who they could be'

"So this is her house!" he exclaimed. He plopped down on the bed which bounced a couple of times before it settled. Just then Kriya walked out of the bathroom patting her face dry. As she opened her eyes, she stood rooted to the floor with shock.

He watched with amused face as she jumped back seeing him. "Rey! Aap yahan?!!! How did you get in?"

He picked up a photo-frame kept on the top of the desk and teased, "So this is your big secret huh?"

She panicked a little. "What are you doing here?"

"What do you think I'm doing here? By the way, I didn't know you were good at lying! No, no. Not just good. But great at it!"

She sighed. "Rey' I can explain'"

"Of course you can. You have to. But first, I'm starving." He tempted her and walked out the room looking for the kitchen.

She looked around trying to embrace all that just happened. She then rushed into the kitchen following his tail.

"Rey' please' suniye na'" he stuffed a piece of apple in her mouth blocking her from speaking further. Giving a smile, he walked around her and turned the T.V. on. Switching it to music channel, he looked back at her after sitting on the couch.

"This is some secret all right! I mean who are you?! Your house is even bigger than mines! And I thought my father was rich!!"

She felt hurt somehow but knew she couldn't blame him for the mocking sentences. Anyone would say these sort of things after finding out she had been lying to them. She felt like she was repeating his name for the thousandth time in the last five minutes. Now that she was busted, she decided to come clean and not brew up more lies.

"Rey, look' I'll tell you everything. Just promise you won't tell anyone else."

He raised his eye brow showing that he was all ears. Knowing the tone she said it in, he figured it must be something serious. "Kriya, chill. You don't have to be afraid. You can trust me."

She blinked knowing that she understood what he meant. She sat on the opposite end of the couch and he waited for her to begin.

"Hah' I don't know where to begin from... ok, about who I am' my name isn't Kriya Ghai.

Hearing that, Rey received a shock! He felt like the ground was snatched away underneath his feet and the sky erupted on his head. The girl he was falling in love with was no more than a fraud! A fraud. How can he make a mistake judging someone? For the first time in his life, he felt betrayed. He shook his head with disbelief. 'This can't be!' his facial expression said.

Her eyes widened in horror as she realized what his thoughts were depending on his horror-ed expression. She quickly said, "No no! you're getting it all wrong. My name is Kriya. Just not Kriya Ghai."

She continued as she said nervously, "Its ' It's Kriya Ghai Raiprakash."

She looked at him waiting to speak up. She just needed to hear something. Anything. She needed to console herself that he wasn't going to hate her for this.

While Rey was too stunned to speak anything. By looking at her, he knew that he should say something. But his throat went dry and even though he wanted to say something, he was unable to. He looked lost as well. Kriya Ghai Raiprakash!! It can't be what I'm thinking'

"Kriya Raiprakash as in Gaurav Raiprakash's daughter." She confirmed biting her lower lip.

"What?!!!" he freaked out. That really was a shocker to him. "You mean Gaurav uncle's daughter? But that's impossible. He only has one daughter. Why would you still lie then?" he fought against his own conscience not knowing what to think anymore.

Then the reality stung him. "If you aren't lying then it meaning that'"

Kriya sighed and completed, "That I'm Sharon's sister."

Both sat there in silence for a while. Kriya somewhere felt good that she won't have to lie to him anymore. On the other hand, Rey felt his heart getting heavy. It was a lot to take in for one night. It was he himself who was adamant on following Kriya to know her secret. And now that he did, he somewhere wished he didn't know.

Now that all was done, he didn't know how to react to it. Even if he went along with it and supported her, he couldn't bear the thought of lying to Sharon. What will happen to her when she finds out about this? How can I do this? One side, there's my best friend. And on the other side, it's someone more than just a friend. Whom do I support? I don't want to keep it from Sharon either. We have always shared our secrets to each other'

She called out to him when he sat silent for a long time. "Rey?"

He murmured, "Huh? Yea' you and Sharon' sisters' But how?"

"How about I start from beginning?" He looked at her with a blank confused look. She got up and forwarded her hand.

"Come on. I have to show you something."

Not knowing what else was in the store for him, he put his hand in her and let her guide him up the stairs.

*Flash-Back Ends*

"Kriya, what are you doing here?" Karan asked bringing her out of her past. She looked around to find herself standing at her balcony. As she blinked the past away, she realized she was freezing and the realization made her shiver more.

Karan shook his head in disappointment as he picked up a blanket and wrapped it around her. "You never did care about yourself." He murmured under his breath. She smiled seeing his concern.

"That's because I know you're always there for me." she replied sweetly.

He mocked, "Ha-ha. Don't try to butter me." both chuckled at that. "No, on serious note, you should think about yourself more. I mean look at yourself, you look like a mess!"

"What?! she yelled at him with shock.

"Yea, I mean if Sharon saw you like this, she would get a mini heart attack!" he continued.

She realized he was pulling her leg. Giving him a deathly look, she said his name in two separate syllables. "Ka-Ran!"

He dodged the punch that she delivered on his shoulder. Sonia came there and announced, "Anyone up for ice-cream?"

As soon as the words were out, both rushed past her making her take a semi-circle twirl before she regained her balance. "Whoa! Ok, I'll take that as a yes!" she commented after them.

Next morning, Rey woke up before his alarm went off. He had nothing to do till 10:00 A.M. so he decided to go roaming the city. He didn't want to take chances of getting surrounded by people. Thus he went to the nearest park. The same park where Kriya was headed.

She opened the car door when Rose come running out. "Hey, are you going to gym or park?" she asked after looking at her attire.

"Park. Want to come along?"

"Definitely. Just a minute." She ran back in and ten minutes later, she came back in her track suit. Starting the car engine, Kriya teased, "I thought you said one minute!" rose smacked her arm playfully and the car giggled away.

Kriya inhaled the morning fresh scent in closing her eyes. Rose exclaimed, "This is so refreshing!"

"Yea? I come here every day!!"

"That's nice. So, have you ever been to India?" she asked as they started walking.

Kriya chuckled at her silly question. "Been there? Hun, I was born there and lived my life there only."

"Oh! I so wish to go there and now that dream is coming true! I mean I was born here and only seen India in movies and all."

"Trust me, you'll love it there. I know I did!"

"Then why'd you come here?" rose asked not knowing the depth of that answer. Kriya went silent as they continued walking'

Rose found it awkward and changed the subject as she found a bird on the tree. "Hey! Look over there. They're so cute!"

Rose exclaimed as Kriya looked and smiled at her babyish act.

She started bursting in fits of laughter. "Oh god! Your brother is hilarious!"

Rose complained. "You're finding it funny! He ruined my date!"

Kriya ran in front of her and started jogging backwards. "Hey! Come, that's what brothers are for! Besides, you should be glad he saved you from that dork."

"Yes, well, he can get the credit for that." Both giggled and continued jogging. Kriya was still in front of Rose jogging backwards so they could see each other's face as the continued talking. She didn't realize she was about to crash into someone. That some was none other than Rey.

Rey was looking at his iPhone changing the song when he crashed into someone.

As a reflex, his hand went around the person's waist as the other hand grabbed her left hand and pulled her towards him stopping her from falling.

Her eyes were shut due to fear of ending up on the floor hurt. But she felt someone pull her and a pair of hand going around her slim waist. The touch sent shivers down her spine.

He stared at her in please as he found none other than Kriya in front of him. She stared in horror at him after she opened her eyes. Both of them were drawn into their past when they had a basketball match. A similar incident had taken place.

*Flash Back*

Kriya was going backwards towards their goal area, waving her hands in air. Swayam passed the ball to her blocking Sharon's attack. She went past Vicky and made the goal. That was the winning point! She jumped up and down in excited and started going back. Just then Rey walked backwards as his team was about to grill him down for making them loose.

*Flash Back Ends*

That day, Rey had saved her from falling the same way he had done right now. Everyone stared at them the same way Rose was at the moment.

Rose came out of her surprised mood finding both of them gazing into each other's eyes dreamily. She called out to them, "Um Kriya?"

Rey and Kriya looked at their position when they heard her call. He helped her balance on her feet. "You okay?" he whispered softly to her.

She gave a slight nod and took a step back.

Silence followed and rose decided to break it. "Rey! What a surprise seeing you here."

"Hi. Roshni right?" He asked smiling.

She nodded. "Call me Rose." She was so used to everyone call Rose that sometimes she herself forgot that Roshni was her real name! her phone rang and she excused herself from them and went away leaving them to themselves.

As I said, this is the longest update so far in this FF. So, liked it? Was it unexpected? 🤔 I hope all your anger has calmed down and suspicion gone too. Kriya and house flashback will continue in one more chapter as I couldn't fit it in this one. All that didn't go along with the flow of the chapter so had to divide it again. Comment away!
