I think ydy's episode highlighted some really important things. For me personally it was the first time we got to see Eijaz and Anita opposite eachother as "Soham and Anjali".
We all know that as Kavya and Anjali the chemistry they shared was great. Yesterday's episode showed not only the fact that they are obviously comfortable working together but also different facets to their acting. Yesterday Soham really seemed like a stranger, albeit one with a familiar face! The look of sheer bewilderment on Soham's part and Anjali's desperation was plain to see.
There are some that of the view that the chemistry will not be 'fresh' if Soham and Anjali were paired together. There is also the view that people only wish to see those two characters paired together because of the fact Eijaz is playing Soham.
To the first issue, the actors may be the same, but the relationship that the two characters Soham and Anjali share is entirely different. When Anjali and Soham stood opposite eachother, I honestly did not think of Kavya and Anjali. . Kudos to both Eijaz and Anita because the body language was entirely different. This just underlines, their acting skills, after all for a year they were on screen lovers..but in yesterday's episode you could sense the apprehension of Anjali and the Soham's uncertainty.
I think Eijaz playing Soham and the issue of Eijaz and Anita's onscreen goes hand in hand. Afterall it makes most sense to pair together two actors who have within a year won numerous awards as a 'jodi' They may have won them as kavya and Anjali but its clear to see, that the chemistry is not limited to a specific 'character type'.Also how the onscreen of pairing of Eijaz and Anita can even be seen as 'old' by some is just proof of how fickle the audience can be. As Kavya and Anjali they may have ran out of scope, but the present situation gives plenty of scope for us to see more of a jodi which hasn't even reached its peak yet.
I for one am looking forward to the way that this 'dosti' between Soham and Anjali develops.
A lot of has been said of the 'hug' but for me the most defining point in the entire episode was when Soham offered his hand to Anjali. He was firm and direct in his actions, the way his arm was poised whereas Anjali was uncertain knowing that this man may have her Kavya's face but his personality is entirely different.
Who knows how the storyline will progress but I for one will enjoy seeing on screen again a terrific onscreen pairing…because for sure the screen lights up when they are both in the frame, be it Kavya or Soham and Anjali..
