Khushi stood alone across the mandap, deep in thought. For a moment, she thought she was the bravest, most courageous person in the world. Her Jiji was now officially getting married and Khushi had faced so many obstacles, so many troubles to finally stand where she did. It was hard... swallowing the fact that things would change completely, now that she was going to actually be related to the Raizada's and the fact that her Jiji would leave her forever. A teardrop escaped her eye as she thought of how empty and lonely her life would be after this fateful day. To divert her attention from the horrible feeling, she tried to look away from her Jiji's face, as she sat on the mandap beside Akash, clad in the red, beautiful wedding dress.
As the Pandit jee chanted prayers and what not, Khushi tried to concentrate on the table that was being laden with delicious food. Her eyes widened as she saw a plate full of steaming hot jalebis being brought onto the table. She quickly recalled the fierce argument she had had with Arnav on the matter. He was hell bent on making Khushi miserable during the wedding and hence, had outright refused to include jalebis in the wedding menu. A small smile spread on her face as she realised that she thought of the man as too cruel. He only did things to tease her, make her angry. But he never really meant any harm to her. He did care about her.
'No, he doesn't!' her conscience snapped. The smile on her lips faded. She knew that she had feelings for him... but slowly and mysteriously, her feelings were getting stronger, deeper and more obvious. She realised that Arnav would soon make out the fact that she was falling for him and would, once again, hurt her. But her heart refused to listen... Her eyes drifted off from the table to Arnav and she realised that he had been staring at her, from the corner of his eyes. She immediately looked away and tried to breathe evenly. A small bubble of hope emerged inside her... maybe he liked her in the dress she had picked out for Payal's wedding. She had deliberately chosen the colour red and had not even confessed to herself that she had done it for him. Her hair was tied up in a messy bun and her jewelry was not very heavy. She had even put little make up on because she knew that he didn't like much of it.
'Khushi, you're a hopeless case' Khushi murttered to herself, turning away from the Mandap.
'That you are...'
Her eyes widened. Her mouth formed an O-shape and she almost passed out. Staring at the man in front of her, she wondered how he had gotten behind her so quickly.
'How did you - What do you mean?' Khushi managed to say.

'She looks beautiful, doesn't she?' Anjali whispered to her brother. He immediately diverted his gaze from Khushi to Akash.
'Who're you talking about?' he spoke in a low voice.
'Khushi... Come on chotte, I noticed you staring at her for fifteen minutes straight' Anjali giggled silently.
'Di, I don't - how do you - I wasn't staring at her!' he was baffled, confused, and embarassed.
'Oh, don't you lie to me! I saw you.' Anjali kept on smiling smugly and Arnav decided that it was better to ignore her. He then realised that he really had been staring at Khushi. He couldn't help himself... she looked extraordinarily beautiful. She was wearing his favourite colour, her makeup was perfect, almost non-existent, her jewelry wasn't too heavy and the loose strands of hair that were unkempt added so much flair to her look. She looked perfect, she was perfect. He didn't want to fight off the feeling that erupted inside him every time he set his eyes on her, and so, for the first time, he willingly and unashamedly stared at her.
He watched as a tear escaped her eye and how she quickly wiped it off. He watched as she internally fought the feeling of despair as her Akash filled her Jiji's maang with sindoor. He watched as she immediately looked away and tried to pay attention to what calmed her best; food. He smiled softly at her innocence and how pure Khushi was.
He saw her notice the Jalebis that he had eventually ordered, just for her. He saw the genuine smile that played upon her lips... that smile made him so happy, knowing that it was meant for him and because of him. He stared at her as her eyes drifted off and met his. How her gaze dropped and the cloud of nervousness took over her.
She tried to calm herself and he watched her still, enjoying how she fumbled and almost bumped into a waiter. He loved the fact that he had such an adverse effect on her. It made him happy. And it was as if his feet started to move on their own accord and he was standing behind her. She immediately turned around and closed her eyes.
'Khushi, you are a hopeless case!' she had muttered, her eyes closed.
'That you are' Arnav replied, a smirk etching on his face.
Her eyes widened and her mouth formed an O-shape as she stared at him.
'How did you - What do you mean?' Khushi managed to say. And all he did was raise his eyebrows in amusement.
