Part 2: It was great! Geet went in search of him only to find him in the same coach. Yeah, Maan did sound kind of creepy when he mentioned of her visit to the coffee shop... but their conversation was interesting... enjoyed it.
P.S. - I'm 4 parts behind and don't know when will I catch up with them... reason being my classes and training taking up almost all of my time. Excuse me for that...
P.P.S. - I know it's a little early for you there, still Happy New Year!!!!
She felt like it had ended before she could fully come to terms with it. But in reality, she was aware the true complication had only really begun that instant she'd walked away from his presence.
It no longer felt like the right thing to sit in her coach and she wandered the rest of the afternoon walking down lone hallways and observing eerie balding men who had no interest in her.
She hadn't gone off on a lone quest for peace, immediately after she'd come out of his car, for she'd first spent some distressing time at her seat. But sitting there made her jump out of her skin, every time someone opened the door that led to her car and given the proximal distance to his roomette, she felt strangely placed within a plane of his warmth. Like his thoughts brought about that sensation on her skin, when they axially, emanated away from his room like a charged field and walloped her. To picture something like this was creepy and she'd then forced herself to remain far from his holds.
She'd managed to pass a little over an hour and half by herself, but she was no longer sure she had it in her to be alone for the rest of the trip. Though she didn't like to acknowledge that the few times she'd gone back to her seat - with excuses of getting a different book to read or to get the credit card for a cup of coffee - was in hopes of sighting him near-by, she knew somewhere inside her that it was the verity of the day.
She'd had crushes in the past and she'd good knowledge on how to never let the attraction take the better of her. It wasn't all looks either, for she felt there was something strange about this particular pull she had towards him. She'd always imagined falling for a dark, brooding man who would make it all the more difficult to resist his witty, curt remarks and who in some ways needed saving more than she did. But it was surprising that she was attracted in many folds to a man with charm, passion and consideration; above all he'd a glib tongue and at times she was convinced, he was a bigger chatter than she was - luckily his conversations were engaging enough to not have her feeling drained or tortured. Also, their role reversal was interesting to her: it was he, not her, who always initiated talks and had made her open up to him, during lunch. Then there was his handsome face, devout grooming, obsession with physical exertion in the form of workouts that showed in his hard, toned body and impeccable style: places she didn't dare going. His deep brown eyes - with their uncommonly long lashes for a man that threatened to hide them - were strictly off-topic.
Why was she making a mountain out of a mole hill?, She asked herself. This was meant to be meaningless, unless one gave it any attention. But she'd heard stories from her girlfriends that'd scared her partly; experiences from casual romantic flings that had burned a mark so deep in them that they looked for traces or tried to recreate the same dizzying meaninglessness in their more permanent relationships. And now that she was fully realizing how much more fulfilling it was despite the brevity it would last, there was a side of her that wanted to indulge in it in entirety.
Sitting at the observation car, with both her feet resting against the long steel handle below the windows, she was gravely annoyed that he hadn't come after her. To say that by keeping that distance between them, he was reinforcing the same significance to the void event and playing a double strike on her was an understatement. By the end of that discourse, she also conceded that insignificant and meaningless didn't mean it came without complications. In fact, there were a good number to consider and ample enough to give her a bad headache.
Just when she was rubbing her temples with her thumb and index finger, she felt the cushion of the chair next to her weigh down by a man with a steely hardened bicep for an arm that brushed her thin, shapely one.
"If you are done running from me, then we can go grab a coffee..." He spoke with such sting in his voice, that she turned and gave him a fiery stare; a few seconds later she went back to gazing out the window.
"Ok...if you don't want a coffee, its fine. I want to grab a snack. I'm hungry already and you know how I feel about eating alone" He said coldly and this time, she didn't bother wasting any effort expressing her ire.
When she didn't react for a while, he gave an exasperated sigh and it was plenty indication that he was about to go off on the much anticipated - however awkward - spiel, that she had been trying to deflect. She kept up her dispassionate act, as he went on, "Fine...I didn't think I was going to get away with this, so here it goes..." Despite the ring of sincerity his words edged with, it showed a mute reluctance and she felt his eyes on her fully, the intensity chafing her skin.
"I'm not even going to bother giving it a name, Geet. And nor am I going to deny it doesn't feel good being around you...or the fact that I want to be around you. When, how, why, or for how long are too many questions for the here and now and I doubt either of us can speak for the changing times"
Whatever came over his possessed mind; for he reached out for her fumbling hand on her lap and she pulled away with another piercing glare.
"It's like you said...when so many things had to fall into place to have us meet here, then why dismiss it as absurd. I'm not asking you to act on it or acknowledge it as something else. But neither is it fair to ignore this" He shook his head in what seemed like frustration and faced her again, and she turned to look at him, his eyes now clouding with regret and declared a willingness to withdraw any moment "Why not just go along?...And you know I wouldn't be talking here if it wasn't any bit mutual"
While he waited for her to respond slightly bent over, with his feet apart, while his elbows rested on his knees and his fingers clasped at the center, she couldn't help consider his suggestion. For most part, she didn't need any convincing, though she wasn't ready to come out with it yet. By some left over sense of artlessness from her teen years, she wanted to ask if he was hinting at an open relationship. But the question was too far below her to find her voice.
"I'm not going to dictate any specifics when I don't know what this is" He said meeting her eyes, keeping his posture as is. "It's not all skin, flesh and lust you know...Nor do I have any means to prove I'm not taking advantage of a vulnerable woman. The only way to be sure is for you to see it for yourself...by taking this gamble"
He got up and leaned against the window, folding his arms. "You never know what will come out of it, Geet"
He couldn't tell what she was thinking, when she refused to look him in the eye. And it no longer felt appropriate to go on, when she feigned such indifference. He thought he'd done his best, trying to put her fears into words and give an indirect assurance that he wasn't all exploiting her situation. However, he also understood there hadn't been any affirmations or declared cognizance from his end of the complications that came with going the proposed route. He stood patiently hoping she would have something to add; if nothing, he expected at the very least a display of censure towards his suggestion. Are you ready to turn love into art?
