Late Friday night, Yash Sinha was accosted by two miscreants at Chincholi Bunder Road, Malad.
Sinha was driving back home (Malad) from Oshiwara with his cousins in the car, when he noticed two guys on a bike tailing them.
The bikers did not back off even when he entered his building complex nearby. Finally, he confronted them and some verbal volleys were exchanged.
This incident has left the television actor with an altogether different impression of Mumbai. "I have been in the city for over two years and had never experienced such a situation," says Sinha who is from Patna.
Night riders
"All this while I believed that Mumbai was a safe city but this has made me rethink. It was both scary and traumatic. It was not as if they wanted to rob me or anything but it was pure harassment; they were just doing it for sheer pleasure," he says. Sinha was in his Maruti Zen with his two cousins.
"They have been in Mumbai for a few days. One has come from Patna and the other from Delhi to pursue their studies here. Both these young girls had an early encounter with the ugly side of Mumbai."
Evening out
Sinha claims that he had taken his cousins for dinner at a Oshiwara restaurant. On their way back home at midnight just when he had entered the Chincholi Bunder Road, suddenly these two men on a bike came in his path. "They drove by our side passing filthy comments.
At first I ignored them but they continued their antics mouthing expletives. At one point, I swerved the car to avoid a collision. From then on they chased us.
Even when I entered the building complex, they followed me. I got off the car and asked them 'What was wrong?' They appeared drunk and after screaming and mouthing some more filthy language they went away. Due to the commotion the other residents were alerted."
After this incident, the security has been tightened in his housing complex and he plans to lodge a complaint with the cops to the effect.
"It proved to be traumatic to my young cousins and has made me wary of the city. I think the bikers were just some sick youngsters out to get some kicks in the night."
