My dad was telling me that in those days when Sulakshana started singing, apparently ( no sources here) Lata Mangeshkar threw a fit with MDs that if they pick Sulakshana then she will never sing for any their future songs. The same thing was said about Vani Jayaram who sang in GUddi. I dont know how true it is, but thats the rumor

well if they won't even give their sister a chance we cant really expect them to help out any of the SRGMP lot... i noticed that they were the only mentors that didnt offer any contestants songs

i heard rumours about ujjaini singing for fanaa but that wasnt true... btw- when i saw the film i felt the song "des rangeela" would have been sung better by ujjaini/nihira... not saying that mahalaxmi's not a good singer (she's extremely talented)... but i dont think that song was for her... at the start it sounded like an ad campaign 😕

Well it is not as if they are doing so well themselves whereby they can call the shots such as Rehman and Sonu Nigam to name a few who are really sought after.

It is a man eating man's world and as family they are at least doing their duty to see that she does not end a destitute. No outsiders is going to part with that little handouts monthly.

I hope she understands that her brothers are doing the best they can and though they seem harsh in their approach towards her or the contestants during the C2005, they have been quite fair in their judgement and have not given false hopes to the contestants.

Yeah, I heard this about Lata Mangeshkar from my mom. That was the reason why many singers like Suman Kalyanpur, Vani Jayaram and few others could never make it big in the film industry and the Mangeshkar sisters ruled the roost for about 3 decades.

And about Sulakshana, it was rumoured that she lost her mental balance after Sanjeev Kumar passed away. Don't know if that was a fact.

Hey! I heard that too. But I'd said earlier, didn't mention as I wasn't sure of the fact. She suffered from a long mental depression at the time that would have been the prime of her career which is why she was left behind ....

Yes. They had shown a small video clip on AS and Vijeyta Pandit (who along with Kumar Gaurav became overnight success story after the movie "Love Story" in the eighties).
