well for my mom to this day when I ask her for something she says NO. and i have never in my life insisted on things or asked again. But she takes sometime to think about things and 99% of the time she comes back with an explanation why I shouldn't do this or to tell me to go ahead.

so for my mom she needs time to think about things. which i learned long time ago. compared to my other siblings who keep pushing her and rarely get things their way. and stay calm and patient and get everything thing that I want (as long as I am not asking for something that isnt right for me or can hurt someone else)
