Part 54

Arjun and Maan along with others came out of the ICU, NT was looking horrified, and she was unable to forget the gaze of Dev's piercing eyes. Maan informed Pammi about Dev, and after completing the formalities, Dev's body was sent for postmortem, and everyone left for KM.

At KM

Dadi and Geet were eagerly waiting for some news from the hospital, as soon as Maan entered the hall Dadi came to him

DM: Maan, what happen?

M: he is no more

DM: oh

Then she saw NT entering the hall behind Arjun, she did not know what to say, in some other situation she would have consoled NT or the loss, but is this really a loss. Everyone was so engrossed in their own thought process that they did not notice Geet who stood there numb.

Maan told Nakul to arrange rooms for Arjun and NT, Lata brought tea for them and they all settled then did Maan notice Geet standing on the landing of the staircase, he gave her a weak smile, but she did not return it, he was confused, and went near her

M: Geettt!

G: ??

He touched her shoulder and she fainted, he was quick enough to hold her and check her from falling down the steps. There was a thud sound as her knees gave up and the three people sitting there turned around to see

M: Lata

L: ji

M: bring in some water I am taking her to her room

He lifted her in his arms and took her fainted form to her room, he laid her on the bed and covered her with a spread, and sprinkled water that Lata has brought, and he eyed Lata to leave.

Geet gained conscious and Maan smiled at her as she opened her eyes.

M: how are you mera bachcha?

G: he died

M: um

G: so easily

M:???

G: I mean he was not even punished for what he did

M: Geet,

G: Maan, ha made it so easy, he just gave up his life

M: because he was not strong, he could not live with the thought that he was to be punished for his deeds

M (kissed her forehead): you don't worry, Arjun is here, we will inform your father, and let him handle the situation there

G (rested her head on his chest): but

M (patting her head): you trust me

G (holding his shirt tightly in a fist): yes

M (hugged her tightly): I assure you that any harm that comes to you has to cross through me

G: Maan

M: I love you Geet, and I won't let any one harm you (he did not realize that he said those 3 words)

G (she too did not realize): I know

Though they did not realize but DM who was witnessing this sighed in relief and thought that Dev's death had at least brought them closer.
