Geet looked down and her gaze hell on the pipe. She saw the lady walking and feared that she might stumble over it. Her fear came true as she saw her slip on the wet grass and she rushed to dadi's aid. She made her stand holding her shoulders and then asked, "Are you okay?"

Dadi looked at her with teary eyes. She hadn't changed at all. At the least, her values were still the same. Always helping anyone in need and caring about them. She nodded and said, "Even you could have fallen right now in the wet grass. You shouldn't have run to save me."

Geet smiled and replied, "If I hadn't then you would have fallen."

Dadi ran her hands across Geet's cheek and then brushed her hair. "You look the same."

Geet asked, "Same? Do I know you?"

Now it was dadi's turn to smile. "I need to sit down first." Geet nodded fast and helped dadi to the nearest bench and then sat next to her. Dadi continued, "You are just like you're mother."

Geet was surprised. "Mom?!" There wasn't every day that she came across someone who knew her mother. It was a surprising fact. She gulped back her tears and asked getting emotional, "You knew mom?"

Dadi scoffed. "Knew? I know all her deepest secrets."

Geet said as a matter of fact. "She must have trusted you more than herself than!" She looked up at dadi as her hands felt cold. She touched her forearm and spoke, "You're freezing dadi! On top it's winter time. You can at least cover up in a blanket if not a jacket! Let's get you inside."

She led dadi to her office and made her sit down and turned the heat on. She looked back at dadi who was now sitting on the chair looking at her with utmost astonishment.

She asked, "What happened?"

Dadi opened her arms and motioned her to come to her. "Come here Geet." She went and sat on the chair next to her. "How are you?"

"I'm good. But how do you know me?"

"Like I said, I knew Rano and you are just like her. In nature, attitude, behavior, everything."

Geet said sadly, "NO'.No. I'm not like her'. If what you say is true, then she would have never left us."

Dadi replied with a pause, "And that's where you misunderstood her."

Geet looked at dadi with a confused expression. I misunderstood my own mother? She made it pretty clear by her action and the letter she left me! The time she chose also made everyone accuse her for the worst. How was I to still believe that my mother was innocent then?

"I know the questions you might be asking yourself right now. And you should be asking them. I know I am just a random person you are meeting and you might be considering whether or not to trust me. But trust me; I have only come to keep my promise."

Geet asked, "What promise? Can you stop talking in riddles and jumping from one topic to another?" Dadi smiled at her justified despair.

"Ok. Guess it's time to start from the beginning. And sorry, I'm not much good at telling a story' well, I met your mother before she was getting married. Probably a day before. It was in a hospital when I bumped into her."

*Flash back*

Rano: "I'm so sorry aunty. Here." She bent down and picked up the file that dropped due to the collision."

Dadi: "It's alright bte. Are you ok?"

Rano nodded and turned to leave. Dadi called her, "Excuse me?"

She stopped and turned around. "Yes?" Dadi replied, "You forgot your file with me too."

"Oh! How silly of me." She took a step towards dadi to take the file when her head felt heavy. She lost balance of her own posture and felt like the earth was slipping underneath her. She held her head trying to get rid of the pain it was causing her.

Dadi hurried to her and held her by her shoulders just as she was about to fall. She made her sit on the nearby chair. *JUST LIKE Geet HAD DONE TO DADI!* She asked for water and the nurse who was passing by got a glass of water.

They calmed her down and a few seconds later, the pain vanished just as fast as it came. She opened her eyes and looked around with a scared face. She tried getting up but couldn't. Dadi said sternly, "No need to get up. Sit!" she pulled Rano back to the chair as she tried to protest.

"Aunty, I'm fine."

"I can see that! Now sit here till the doctor comes. I'm not letting you out of my sight."
