Akshara's Column: Sweet cravings!

Hi friends, I have to admit that being pregnant and adjusting to a new house has taken its toll, but I am enjoying the adventure. It's all part and parcel of learning more from the lessons life teaches you.
We had the Satyanarayan Katha puja at home and the household was busy with the preparations. Ma and Badi Ma are slightly worried about my health and even had a special prayer for my good health during the puja. However, they have kept their feelings to themselves. I guess that they are afraid that they will tense me up.
Off late I have been having strong cravings for sweets. The other day, I had a rosgulla for breakfast and one the previous night also. I guess that the baby really loves sweets. Food cravings are natural, I hear, but it still makes me tense. Naitik was tense, too as he's never seen me this hormonal. Thankfully, our doctor alleviated our worries and said that these cravings are natural and the reason for the baby being so active is because I've been eating so many sweets.
I've been secretly reading about mother's communicating with their unborn babies. I tried it myself and it works. It's like there is a special bond that is formed between the two of us. I have a question in my head and without realizing it, the baby kicks as if it's giving me the answer. It's quite a remarkable feeling and it's an exercise routine that I am going to follow. It's not only good for the expecting mother, as it is a relaxing technique, but I believe that it is a great way to strengthen the bond between mother and child. It is a private moment that I share with my baby and it's something that I will value. I should also have Naitik do the same. I'm sure that he will love the idea, too.
Seven months of pregnancy has been a long period. However, at the end, when the baby is born, I will know that all the bursts of hormonal anger, food cravings, fatigue, battles with the weather and a million other things that I endured during the nine months of pregnancy, will be worth it.
