Folks,

Here is a ghazal rendition by the amazing Hariharan.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/ycogex

I have been following him since the Doordarshan days when he used to come in programs like "Sham-e-ghazal" and "Aarohi". Nobody will dare say this man is from south India if you look at his diction. In this particular one (I consider this as his best ghazal rendition), he has been accompanied on the tabla by the ultimate maestro Ustaad Zakir Hussain.

And the combination of the two is mind blowing.👏👏

Please note : Since I have ripped this one from an old cassette specially for IF , there may be occasional loss in audio quality.

Enjoy.

Thanks Paresh!

Pleasantly surprised to see someone mention Aarohi. I remember watching Hariharan, Alka Yagnik, Anwar (and maybe Suresh Wadekar too) in this program ages ago during the DD days...

The other day, I was watching ETV Gujrathi , and Peenaz Masani mentioned in her interview how "Aarohi" was a launching pad for her career. Very nostalgic are the DD days memories.

That is true...

Aarohi was not a competition but a very good platform for giving exposure to these up-and-coming singers.

I think Kishore da came on Aarohi once (or was it some other program) once and told Alka Yagnik that he liked her dimples...
