They had a traditional village wedding and now it was time for them to go and meet every one as Mr. Maan Singh Khurana and Mrs. Geet Maan Singh Khurana.
Part 30
Now she was married to Maan and has become Mrs. Maan Singh Khurana. But it would be so difficult to go back to the Khurana Mansion as Geet Maan Singh Khurana. What would people say? How will she face Dev? More than that how will she face Sunny? She could not understand how could Maan do this to Sunny? Why had he not taken into account his pregnant girlfriend? She understood his protective instinct towards her as his best friend, but even so he should not have taken such a huge step as marrying her when he already had a girlfriend. She knew he had promised chachaji that he will look after Pari and herself but marrying her for that promise was taking it a bit too far.
Now she was worried about the reaction Dadima will have when she comes to know about her wedding to Maan. Maan had told her about Dadi's reaction when he had tried to tell Dadima about herself and Rahul. Savitri Devi had refused to listen to anything related to Geet and had changed the subject when Maan had tried to tell her again. Geet could understand the anger Dadima must be feeling towards her. She remembered the time of Roka when Dadima had been so happy. She had always worried about Dev as she knew Dev had always been a bit more sensitive and emotional and the path he had taken to avoid the emotional hurt after Anjali. Dadima had not expected Dev to come out of the mess of Rahul-Anjali fiasco though she had tried everything to bring Dev back to his senses. That's why Dadima had been happy when Dev had started paying attention towards her and had tried mending his ways. Dadima had used her subtle way and had pushed him more towards her and when he had confessed his love for Geet, She had not wasted time in announcing their betrothal and arranged the marriage in two months time.
Geet was worried how Dev would take her presence in Khurana Mansion as his elder brother's wife. Would he be cordial to her or would he shun her and not accept her as his brother's wife. She was also worried, would she be able to forget Dev so soon and accept Maan. She had been infatuated with Dev for a long time and had started loving him for quite some time now. It was difficult for her to accept Naintara as Dev's wife; yes she was jealous of Naintara and knew it would not be easy to see them together as a happily married couple. It would be rectitude to stay away from them until the time she could accept them as a couple willingly and wholeheartedly.
"What are you thinking Geet?" Maan's voice brought her out of her pondering.
"Nothing much Maan, I was thinking about fate and the role it has played in changing my life. I never imagined to be married to you one day."
"Yes Geet fate has its own ways to shape up a person's life the way it wants to."
"Had you ever imagined yourself married to me Maan?"
"Do not dwell upon the past Geet, look forward to your present and leave the future to reverie."
"But Maan our present looks very bleak to me."
"Do not think and worry too much Geet, leave all that to me I will handle and sort out whatever problems and difficulties come your way. Stop thinking about all that and try to accept the present Geet."
"Let's go home now, Geet and start a new life."
"Wahin ruk jao" Dadima's voice brought a sudden silence in the hall.
Everyone looked first at Savitri Devi and then at the couple standing on the entrance of the hall.
"How dare you enter this home without my permission" She thundered.
Maan tried to make her understand, "Dadima, I have married Geet."
"No Maan, you should not have done that and I do not accept your marriage neither do I accept her as my daughter-in-law"
"Please, I am sorry." Tears running down her cheeks Geet tried asking for forgiveness, "I am really sorry, Ma please mujhe maaf kar dijiye"
"Nahi Geet, Ma kahene ka haq toh tum ne ussi waqt kho diya tha jab tum us Rahul se mili thi. Ab main tumhara chehera bhi nahin dekhna chaahti."
"Aisa mat boliye Ma, main aap se maafi mangti hoon" she fell on her feet.
"Geet main tumhe maaf nahi kar sakti par kyunki hum Maan se bahut pyaar karte hai aur usse dur nahi bhej sakte. Par ab jab usne tum se shaadi kar he li hai toh tum outhouse me rah sakti ho. Magar aaj ke bad tum Haveli mein tab aaogi jab tumhe andar aaneki permission ho yan tumhe koi invite kare" Savitri Devi told her, turning to Maan she continued, "Maan ab yah tum par bhi lagoo hoga. Tum bhi is ghar mein bina permission ke nahi aa sakte" saying she left.
The relatives and guests who were staying back for few days at the Khurana Mansion were so surprised by what was happening in front of their eyes that none spoke, but the moment Savitri Devi left everyone pounced on them to know more about their wedding. But it was Sameera who was the first to accuse Geet of framing one brother while wanting to marry another. She was totally pissed of seeing Geet married to Maan. She started raging and accusing her of breaking up Sunny's relationship. It was Vicky who took her away hinting her to leave Khurana Mansion as now the reason of her staying in Khurana Mansion was off-limits to her.
She wanted to thank God, that Sonalika was not in the hall but she, herself could not imagine the reaction of Sunny when she would come to know about Maan's marriage to Geet.
It was her sister Pari's crestfallen face which hurt Geet more, than the accusation hurled by Sameera. She knew Sameera had always thought Maan to be her personal property and the power of money had made her arrogant, making herself believe irresistible to men. But Pari had been attracted to Maan from the day they had arrived in Khurana Mansion. She had seen her trying to gain his attention but Maan had always treated her as a friend and she knew about it. She did not want to regret the sacrifice her best friend had made by marrying her but she could not help feel guilty of hurting so many people.
Walking out of the door, Pari came and hugged her hiding away her hurt, "Wah Geet, tum to chupi rustam nikli, chup chap jaake shaadi kar li aur hame bulaya bhi nahi" saying she turned to Maan, "Ab to aap ko jijaji bulana padega hame. Congrats jijaji, hamari Geet se shaadi karne ke liye."
Maan felt sorry for Pari as he knew how infatuated she was with him. He hugged her and smilingly teased her, "Han Pari ab to tum meri saali bangayi ho aur tum ne wo kahavat toh suni hogi, Saali aadhi'''."
This broke the tension which had surrounded them from the moment they had come to Khurana Mansion. Everyone who was standing there had a smile on their faces.
"Geet, chalo hum outhouse ko hi tumhara sasural bana dete hain. Tum thodi der thero jab tak
hum arrangements nahi kar lete." Pinky told Geet.
Geet was so touched by Pinky's words that her eyes filled up. She terribly missed her Ma Baauji today, but she knew they would have been hurt by her behavior. She herself could not believe the turn of events in her life.
Adi, Pinky, Pari and Vicky made all the arrangements in the outhouse while Geet and Maan waited outside in the car. It was late evening by the time everything was done and Adi had come to call them in.
The moment Geet tried to enter the outhouse, Pari stopped her.
"Geet ruko, pehle tumhe Griha Pravesh ki ceremony puri karni hai." She brought aarti ki talli and a pot of rice, while pinky poured some mustard oil on the sides of the entrance door before the Geet could enter.
The girls performed the pooja and after the aarti, they urged Geet to tilt the rice filled pot with her right foot to enter her home.
Precap: the wedding night.
