seen it, dived in, posted my comments, although i doubt i can make worthwhile contribution, no books at hand, not interested to research, just passing away idle time and tipping here and there stuffs which i have read from different versions of MB and the interpretation of different bengali writers.

kunti and gandhari were not really enemies, maybe they were not BFFS but they didn't have a hate u biyatch relationship, the snub looked a little unreal for someone like gandhari. i mean gandhari didn't even bless her own son before war and said let dharma rule, how can she snub kunti for getting what is right fully hers? but as the kunti actress so far is horrible, i am totally okay with her being snubbed.
gandhari trying to abort btw was competition, even these days wives of rich and powerful have the pressure to deliver an heir, and some 2500yrs BC it would be even more, specially if u r wife to a powerful kingdom, and therefore her trial. i think gandhari had a tumour , 2 yrs of pregnancy beats even elephants, and then vyas comes and sees she cannot do it , and so comes the first test tube babies of the world.😆

the old MB was all about pitamaha bheesma( mukesh K was so fab and he can be even better now considering now he wont need to fake his age, he will be so nuch better than the ones shown now), nitish uncle and roopa ganguly for me and then the war and war. its good in a way they are focussing more on bheem, i guess this is the effect of 2011. even 20 yrs back chocolate boy stuff rocked and so arjuna was given so much importance on the show, and nowadays girls dig more of 6 pack powerful type, even ranveer singh went and got himself a six pack, so the focus on bheem i guess. not to mention that guy is cute😳
do u think they should use some of the old MB cast, i mean puneet issar is such a wastage a jarasandh, we will prolly see him for 2 weeks during the rajasuya yajna. His son's name was also sahadev and he was a pandava ally in the war. Did he die? Bhagadatta will join the kauravas, i guess lord K must have thought then, i should have killed him along with his dad when i had the chance, so much trouble now.😆

Have you read Rajshekhar Basu? I've read parts of it in some detail (am unfortunately not fluent in reading/writing Bengali), and I found a good level of detail there, rivaling that of KM Ganguly.

I'm glad Puneet is playing the role of Jarasandha: if he was to play a longer role, maybe that of Dhritarashtra would have been more appropriate, but not that of either the Kauravas nor the Pandavas. I actually thought it appropriately done, and he could have played a longer role in this serial had they started it after Kansa's death and shown all the 18 wars b/w Krishna & Jarasandha. I guess after Jarasandha's death, they could bring him back as someone else - maybe Bhurishrava. Point being Puneet now ought to play someone ahead of Duryodhan's generation. Similarly, I thought Gufi should have gotten a more senior role, maybe Vyasa - don't like him playing the same role again. I think Gajendra Chauhan could have played Vidura, or could play Shalya later on. Incidentally, both of Puneet's characters will be slain by character named Bhima - 1 w/ the mace to his thighs, and the 2nd by being symmetrically torn apart.

Yeah, in the Kurukshetra war, Jarasandha's son Sahadev & Sishupala's son Dhrishtaketu were both killed on day 14 of the war by Drona when he was trying to make use of Arjun's invasion of Jayadrath by trying to capture Yudhisthir. As was mentioned in the Pandava thread, Jarasandha's daughter was married to Madri's son Sahadev, while Sishupala's sister Karenamati was married to Nakul.

I wonder whether there is any description anywhere of what made Bhagadatta join the Kauravas? Did Karna defeat him during his conquests? And on top of that, Krishna gave him the Vaishnava astra when Bhudevi brought him to Krishna, and Bhagadatta didn't get an opportunity to use that b4 his battle w/ Arjun, and Krishna saved Arjun by intercepting it and taking it on as a garland.

yes i have, infact the children's version by upendrakishore and the one by rajsekhar are widely circulated, we had parts of rajsekhar basu's as a part of our school text book in middle school i think. Because he himself was a scientist, his writings are wonderfully logical and clear. well atleast u can understand some bengali, i only understand elementary hindi ( written not the stuff spoken in hindi soaps and bw) and sanskrit.

i didn't want puneet to play younger generation, that would be absurd and amit pachori is brilliant, but someone with more prominence, maybe drona, the angry brahmin, or i wish they showed a little bit more of jarasandha coz he was a significant person in lord K s life, the reason he had to seek refuge in dwarka.
Royal families then and royal families now, all interelated and fighting with each other.

There are no description as to why bhagdatt joined the Kauravas. during rajasuya, when arjun went to invade uttarkuru,he didnt even fight him, he told arjun its impossible for him to win againt him and he just considered him as friend and gave him gifts for the jagna. going by that he should logically be on pandava side. I think bhagadatta just wanted to join the kauravas, duryodhana was a friend made during the 12 yr of pandaa vanvaas or he just joined for the fun of it. all i remember is he had highly trained battle elephants which created havok. Duryodhan and his side was reupted for being ruthless fighter and he just joined to have fun, or piss lord K off. may be it was lord Ks leela : the Vaishnavi astra which he had, when turned upon any other human being would have created mass destruction irrespective of any side and lord K regretted giving it to Bhagdatt and simply wanted it back. the only way he could take it back was when he would be at receiving end. Bhagdatta would not consciously hurt his lord, and hence this trick.
