Suddenly, moments of his past flash before his eyes...with every memory his anger shot up...every thought...every moment...everything coming back. Arjun gets off the swing and hits a pole. What the hell was he thinking...how could he let it go this far...
* * * Continued * * *
Arjun jolted away from the swing as he thought over the nights happenings, his thoughts...his thoughts about Arohi. He turned with a jerk to face the greenery in the area. He closed his eyes shut and brought his hands to his head. Placing each hand just above the ears, he held his head as if trying to stop the thoughts going on in his head. He shook his head from side to side, as if trying to shake his thoughts out. It was hopeless. The more he tried the more he remembered. He began cursing himself 'how could you let Arohi in...how could you forget it all...what were you thinking...become friends...friends? Idiot...' Arjun thought to himself. Although the intention was for them to become just friends...something unexplainable existed, something more, some sort of natural pull and Arjun had acknowledged that. He could feel himself getting lost in her, unwillingly, so naturally. It just happens. The more he thought about his feelings from the nights events the more he cursed himself. His anger was slowly reaching extreme heights. He starts having flashes of his dance with Arohi. His hold on her, her captivating eyes, those alluring lips, there was something in that moment, that prevented him from letting go. His firm grip, he lost himself in her completely. How? Why? He couldn't make any sense of it. He was beginning to get frustrated, his anger was shooting higher. Suddenly his mind travels down another path. A blast from his past. Gauri comes to mind. Her smile, their moments, the day he lost her, the day his world crumbled down to the floor. As those moments ...images...flashed before his eyes, he felt himself get angry, at himself, at his fate, at god...
Arohi came out of her dreamland when she suddenly heard a loud, thump sound from outside. She got up and made her way to look outside when she sees Arjun. He seemed fired up. As soon as she saw him she knew something was wrong, something seemed off. She could see some storm was brewing. She focused her attention on his every move. His expressions, body language, it was all unfamiliar to her. A side of him that she's never seen, he looked angry, but why? His frustration...anger was clear. Arohi watched on with much concern and worry, but there was another feeling emerging. The more she watched him the more she felt scared. When she saw Arjun turn away and hold his head, her heart thumped. As she saw him shake his head, side to side, vigorously. As if feeling everything he was. She wanted to stop him. Her feet reacted to her hearts beat, the initial intinct to be there for him. Her feet lead her to where he was. She started increasing her pace down the stairs and was almost running out the door. Her feet halt when she sees Arjun, standing facing away from her. She slowly approached him and saw him life his head up towards the sky, in despair. Watching his every move, Arohi felt a shiver down her spine, yet she wanted to hold him, to calm him. The fear she felt was maybe a little for herself but more for him. It killed her more to see him so worked up. Arohi reached out and placed a hand on his shoulder, hesitantly. Upon feeling her touch, Arjun's head jerks down. He knew exactly who it was and this wasn't the time. He really didn't want to face her, but it was her stupid idea and talks that brought him here. He comes out of his thoughts and jerks his body in her direction her causing her to spring a few steps backwards. As they came face to face, their eyes lock. His blood shot eyes told her that she shouldn't say a word. She knew he was in some distress, but she feared the anger. That stare...the look...those eyes were enough to send shivers. Arjun knew if a single sound escaped her mouth, he would explode. As he looked in those green eyes, he saw the fear within them, but he also saw the concern. Her innocence was something known to him, he knew of her intentions, he didn't seem to find the words to say, and he didn't want shout. He stared in her eyes, still showing his anger. In that moment Arohi realized that this sudden, abrupt mannerism must be from the night's events. Arohi remembers Arjun's words after marriage "I loved someone before, I gave her my heart, and I never got it back. I can never love anybody the way I loved her, this marriage was only for my family" and then she remembers the feeling she got from the dance. There was something there...something brewing. Arjun shut his eyes to break the moment and stormed off from there. Arohi's eyes follow his figure and watch it fade into the distance as he leaves the premises of Singhania Mansion. For the first time in her life, Arohi's heart sank. She felt a single tear escape her eye and she thinks about everything from the moment they met to right now.
Us ko mera halka sa ehsaas to hai
be-dard sahi woh mera humraaz to hai,
woh aaye na aaye mere paas lekin,
shiddat se mujhe uska intezar to hai,
abhi nahi to kya hua mil hi jaayegi kabhi,
mere dil mein usse milan ki aas to hai,
pyaar ki gawahi mere aansuon se na maang
barasti nahi aankhien magar dil udaas to hai………!!
Raj had watched the whole thing from a far and the minute Arjun left he came towards his sister and placed his hand on hers. She looked down at him and plastered on a smile. "I saw everything Di" Raj said as Arohi let out a pained sigh. "But why are you crying?" he asked a bit confused as with his eyes all he saw was the abrupt behavior. "He didn't say anything to you ...so then?". Arohi shook her head in negation "Mujhe nahi pata..." Arohi let out a deep sigh "I don't know why ...I really don't know...why do I feel this way suddenly...why do I feel that the moment he took me in his hold, everything fell into place...I felt in that moment he is my destination...this exactly where my life was meant to be. Why Raj why would I think such a thing when I know there's no chance...when I know that he doesn't want any such relationship...when I didn't even want this relationship...what changed...how did it change...why???" Raj sat silently listening, he felt she needed to vent to clear her mind. "how can I do this...friendship?" she smirked "what was I thinking...that I would become best friends with my husband and expect not to fall in lo..." she stopped speaking as she realized her feelings were more...way more ...and she had in fact accepted him as her husband, that image of him was always there...she masked it with friendship, but she had accepted it the minute he married her...she just didn't know it then. He was a stranger come friend but somewhere deep inside he was imprinted as hers because they were hitched. Raj smiles and is now well aware that Arohi has realized she loves Arjun...everything they've been through since marriage brought them together and has managed to leave a lasting impression on both. He decides to leave Arohi to her thoughts and collect herself. Arohi sat there trying to make sense of how it happened...when it happened. Arohi speaks out loud to herself "I'm smiling thinking of you but when I think of us ...that smile fades...mujhe nahi pata ke abh mein kya karoon...
Next morning Arohi was up and about early. She couldn't sleep all night for two reasons. Her discovery of her own feelings for Arjun and the fact that he never came back from where ever he went last night. The only reason she was calm was because she had sent Romit out looking for him and Romit had messaged her saying all is fine and that they will be home in the morning. Arohi's mind was only in thoughts of his reaction to the nights events..the look he gave her...those eyes that held so much pain from his past which was almost haunting him now, whatever happened had really left it's mark on him. There was guilt in his eyes as if someone was watching over him and holding him back from even thinking to move on...the hurt ...anger...there was so much in those eyes before he walked off. How could she not think about what condition he may be in. Arohi tried to keep her mind occupied by doing some random house work, but nothing worked she couldn't stop thinking about him. Arohi headed to the kitchen to make everyone's morning cup of tea...
Arjun and Romit walk in throught the main entrance of SINGHANIA MANSION. Arjun walks ahead of Romit in a very bold manner. He is about to head to the stairs when both of them jerk their heads towards the kitchen area as they hear a loud shriek sound and some smashing sounds. Arjun's immediately thought about Arohi and his feet within seconds ran in the direction with Romit following behind. Both halt at the doorway of the kitchen when they see pot of water splashed on the floor, and Arohi jumping around wiggling her hand in the air as she winces in pain. Arjun's eyes immediately catch a small burn on the surface of her hand, Arjun's feet springs to Arohi and without uttering a words he drags her towards the tap and runs her hand under cold water. Arohi shocked with his gesture feels a sudden sense of relief with his presence, his touch. The burn was no longer existent to her. Romit goes to turn the stove off and picks up the pot from the floor. He turns to see Arjun's concern ridden face and smiles slightly watching him. Arohi watches Arjun's face and feels her heart flutter, as if she could see there was something there for her in that moment...he was there for her...concerned for her. Arjun could sense the two pairs of eyes looking at him and suddenly releases his hold on her hand. He stops what he was doing and turns around while avoiding looking in Arohi's direction. Feeling the sudden cold air that slipped between the space he created between them, Arohi looks disappointed. Both remember last nights events and then Arjun authoritively gestures Romit to help her and he barges out of the kitchen. Arohi is left staring after Arjun as his figure fades away while Romit went to grab the first aid kit. He comes back to see Arohi standing staring into the empty hall. He reaches out to her shoulder causing her to come out of her thoughts. She gives him a pained smile. Romit gestures her to towards the counter as he sets the kit on top of it. Romit pulled out the ointment, opened the lid and squeezed it into Arohi's good hand. She slowly spread it over her small burn as Romit watched her. "Arohi don't worry everything will be alright..." Arohi smiled "and I'm talking about you and Bro..." Arohi looked at Romit blankly. "He just needs time to be able to move..." Romit stopped as he didn't know if Arohi knew anything or not...Arohi finished off with spreading the ointment and looked at Romit "Move on ...forget that love that seems to be torturing him now?" Arohi stated unsure what to think. Romit nodded agreeing."Romit can I ask you what exactly happened...I mean I know he loved someone but what happened between them?" Romit looked at her aprrehensively of her situation. He figured it is something she had the right to know...and maybe it would be better if she knew exactly what happened. She would be able to understand Arjun better. Romit smiled and gestured her to follow him.
They both went out to the garden and sat down. Romit took his seat beside Arohi and started his narration..."You already know that we moved to USA after the loss of a loving husband and father, we needed a change in location to adjust to the change, a life without him. We didn't know for how long we were going, when we'll come back...but we knew that mum needed to leave to get over it and we needed to get away from the memories" Arohi listened keenly. One of mum's friends had offered to let us stay with them. We arrived at the airport that day, who knew that day would change Bro's life forever, our lives forever" Romit stared into oblivion as he spoke, remembering that day. Mum's friend had came inside to receive us. We all greeted her and followed her out to their car. Just as we arrived at the car, from the opposite side a girl stepped out" Romit turned to look at Arohi "Gauri" Arohi lowers her eye brows as Romit continues "that day, nothing sparked between them, they just got introduced and that was that" Romit turned to look forward "but as we were living in their house, it was inevitable that they ran into each other often. They had soon become friends. The more they spent time together the more they started feeling something for the other" Arohi listens and remains calm on the outside, although she was feeling a stinging feeling on the inside, listening to Romit's words. "Eventually they moved out of the friendship zone and started to date.I wouldn't say they were a match made in heaven, they were just a normal couple. Had their fights, flaws, but always managed to make up. They were together for 2 years before Bro proposed to her. Both families were happy for them and there were no problems." Romit pauses. "So then what happened between them?" Arohi asked curiously. "You said there were no problems with the families, and they were also good together...then what changed?" Romit let out a sad smile "I guess what was meant to, happened. They got engaged, fixed the wedding date but fate had another plan all together and stepped right into their lives" Arohi looks on, Romit continues "and forced them to separate". Romit paused as he remembered that horrible day, where everything went down the drain. "Forced?" Arohi prompted to get him to continue speaking. Romit turned to face Arohi. He knew from the look on her face, she was still confused and unsure what to think. He let out a sigh "Bhabhi, they got into a car accident" Arohi's eyes widen as she's sure this car accident is a major part to the story. But it had confused her more as to how it relates and why they separated. "They were going shopping and about few hours after they left we got a call informing us of the accident. Some drunk driver ran a red-light causing that car to collide with Bro's. It had hit the passenger side with full force and speed. We had gone to the hospital immediately and found out that both of them were unconscious from the site of the accident. After a long time, the doctors had told us Bro was stable but Gauri..." Romit's voice faded out as he looks away for a moment. Arohi couldn't believe what she was hearing, she was beginning to get scared to hear the rest of the story. Her mind was now thinking if something happened to Gauri. Romit turns back towards Arohi "Gauri's condition was getting worst. The doctors suggested that Gauri be shifted to their other hospital which was bigger. We had immediately agreed to that and had her shifted. AS and I stayed back with Bro, who regained consciousness 8 hours after the shift was made. As soon as he became aware he was in the hospital. his first instinct was about Gauri. We told him that she was in another hospital and her condition wasn't looking good. Bro had created chaos trying to convince everyone to let him go so he could see her. We managed to calm him down for the night and the doctors gave him a medication to sleep. If I had known, then, that they will never meet again, I would've asked the doctors to make arrangements to shift him there too, but what happened was unexpected" Romit stops as he hears Arohi's voice "don't tell me she..." Arohi couldn't finish. Romit nodded "She died that night, we found out, from her dad, when Bro called him the next morning to inquire about her status. The worst part here was that her parents were saying words that they shouldn't have, but it was understandable saying that they just lost their daughter" Arohi looked on "What did they say?" Arohi questioned. "Bro had told them that he will make arrangements to come and they had at that point cracked. They yelled saying that it was his fault and had he been more careful it wouldn't have happened, their words are truly what impacted Bro the most. They had put it in a way that he felt they were right. They ended the call telling him never to come before them. This day had not only broken Bro but had changed him forever, to a person who went into a shell. He was in depression, he excluded himself from us, from the world. He began drinking carelessly, doing things that can endanger his life...it was when everything seemed to be reaching it's peek that mum had decided to bring him back here. He was a little better but still in his shell, slowly I had brought myself to come back into his life and slowly we started seeing a somewhat more normal Bro. It took a lot of effort and lectures to get him to live a little. He started to keep himself ...his mind occupied with work. It did sort of work, but we still never got that Arjun that once existed back, the one who was living in the moment, very down-to-earth. mum was really worried for him and after months of coaxing, she finally got him to agree to get married and that's where you came in" Romit finished as he watched Arohi's upset expression and welled up eyes. After minutes of silence, Arohi spoke "I didn't think she left like that" implying that she was unaware the girl had died. "But his feelings I guess I can understand why he is having trouble letting go of that past" Romit looked at her questioningly "he never got that closure he needed, he never go to see her, let out his thoughts, and to top it all off I guess that phone call just added more fuel to the fire...but I can tell he is really hurt by everything that's happened in his life" Arohi's eyes trail to stare into oblivion as she felt her heart sink thinking of everything. Romit watched her expression "Bhabhi, this much I can tell you, he does feel something for you ...I can see it...there is something between the two of you that I never once saw with Gauri" Arohi turns to look at Romit. "You know Romit, I never wanted to get married, but I never like anyone, it was just a personal decision. When I got married I wasn't ready for anything, but somewhere along the line I had accepted him as my husband" Romit lips curve into a slight smile hearing this. "I can't help but feel his pain, looking in his eyes it's like I can go straight into his heart and see the pain" Romit nods as if agreeing "and I think Bro has acknowledged that, he probably fears what he feels, sees with you. I guess what you said is true eh" Arohi looked at Romit confused, still holding her upset expression. "When the hero gets pained the heroine can feel it" Romit lets out a small smile trying to lighten the mood a bit. Arohi too smiles. "Bhabhi just give him sometime, he just needs to think over everything with a clear mind again. He needs to realize that you're here to stay and he needs to accept that and realize your worth" Romit gets up and stands to face Arohi "Everything will be alright...just give it some time...be patient he will come around, but do remember there is something there between the two of you that even I can't explain" Romit was about to walk off when he turned back around "continue to put the ointment on until it has healed, good thing the burn isn't too bad" Arohi looked at her hand remembering burning it and then looked at Romit and nodded. Romit smiled and walked off as Arohi turned to stare into black space.
The day was coming to an end and both Arohi and Arjun had avoided each other completely. Both had found it difficult to stop thinking about the other. Arjun went to work to avoid coming face to face with Arohi. He came home eventually, but went straight to his office area and worked. While Arjun kept his mind occupied with his work, Arohi was having a hard time to even stop herself from thinking about him for even a second. The night was growing, Sarita and Romit had headed to bed, while Arohi remained in the dinning area. She was hesitating to go up. Finally she decided she would just go up and let what ever is meant to happen, happen. Arohi who was still lost in thoughts and quite worn out, approaches the top of the staircase and the door to the room. She sees that Arjun was not around and goes to lay on the bed. She couldn't get herself to sleep so she lay down awake, thinking over Arjun's situation, her situation...their situation.
Arjun on the other hand, went down to the bar to avoid facing Arohi. He figured he will go up once she is asleep. He decided to pour himself a glass and with each glass his past and present flashed in his mind. His thoughts were alternating suddenly between Gauri and Arohi. Going back and forth. Thinking of every moment he had with each of them. The more he remembered, the more confused he...which caused more pain...and lead to make him drink more and more. He was heading to a level of intoxication where even he would no longer have control of himself. He thought about the accident the last face he saw of her smiling at him while both were talking about what they need to buy. He then remembered the accident, waking up, the phone convo and his anger made him drink more. As he thought of all this suddenly he remembers getting married, his first night with Arohi where he made that curtain, they way they were awkward. He then remembers that simple conversation that had made his heart feel lighter, after years he felt truly normal. To anyone who knew how Arjun was before marriage would've definitely seen how it was so effortless. Her words creating some magic, her presence, her being. There was definitely something there. Some ease, some comfort, the way her words played on his heart strings. He unconsciously smiles thinking about Arohi. There was something that striked their two hearts and binded them almost immediately. Whether they recognized or not a connection was made, a sense of belonging was established. Arjun was by this point, over the top drunk. He smiles as his mind remains in thoughts of Arohi. He get himself to stand with great difficulty, and makes his way up to his room as he stumbles and has trouble balancing himself. He walks to his door and pauses looking in the room as his eyes meet Arohis who was now sitting up on the bed. She to turns to see him as she feels his gaze. She see's he is having a hard time standing and her feet automatically take her towards him. As she approaches, Arjun suddenly has a smile on his face. She realizes he is drunk and directs him to get some sleep. As she helps him he stares at her. His eyes said so much and his heart felt so light with her there. Arohi holds him by the arms and Arjun places his one arm around her shoulder to help steady himself. As they move towards the bed, Arjun stops in his tracks causing Arohi to stop too. She looks at him silently and notices something different in his eyes. A sense of comfort, relief, and if she didn't no any better she would even say affection and appreciation. She gets lost in him as he gazes into her eyes. "Arohi" his lips utter. Arohi's heart skips a beat with his tone, there was so much affection there."Ajeeb hai...kuch sochu to tera khayaal aa jata hai, Kuch bolu To tera naam aa jata hai, Kab talak byan karun dil ki baat, Har saans me ab tera ehsaas aa jata hai.. " [note: I didn't write this, found on the net...am not as talented as missy :P ]. Arohi looks at Arjun shocked but strangely it really sent her heart racing in happiness. "When I come before you, see these green innocent eyes, hear that sweet soothing voice, feel that positive vibe...some strange feeling sparks..." Arohi listening suddenly realizes that he is drunk and most likely what ever he is saying, he is not realizing it. "Aap hosh mein nahi hai...get some sleep and we can speak in the morn..." before she can finish Arjun removes his hand off her shoulder and stand to face her as he places a finger over her lips "Ssshhh..." he sounded as Arohi looks up surprised at his behavior, she sees his eyes travel around her face and his lips crease into a smile...has anyone ever told you, your lips are petal soft...and your eyes damn anyone would drown in them...Arohi feels herself go warm to the cheeks and decided to step away from Arjun. She tries to move when he grasps her wrist. "where are you going..." Arohi stands at a loss for words. Thier eyes lock in that moment and both get lost in another world. Arjun inches forward as Arohi backs up towards the bed.

Jab jab tere paas main aaya, Ik sukoon mila
Jise main tha bhoolta aaya, Wo wajood mila
Jab aaye mausam gham ke, Tujhe yaad kiya...
Jab sehme tanhapan se, Tujhe yaad kiya
Hmm..dil... Sambhal ja zara
Phir mohabbat karne chala hai tu
Dil yahin ruk jaa zara
Phir mohabbat karne chala hai tu
Aisa kyun kar hua janu naa
Main janu naa o..o..
Dil sambhal ja zara
Phir mohabbat karne chala hai tu
Dil yahin ruk ja zara
Phir mohabbat karne chala hai tu
Jis raah pe, hai ghar tera
Aksar wahan se, haan main hoon guzra
shayad yahin dil mein raha
Tu mujh ko mil jaye, Kya pata...
Kya hai yeh silsala
Janu naa, Main janu naa
Dil sambhal ja zara
Phir mohabbat karne chala hai tu
Dil yahin ruk ja zara
Phir mohabbat karne chala hai tu
Kuch bhi nahi Jab darmayaan
Phir kyun hai dil, tere hi khwaab bunta
Chaha ki de, tujhko bhula
Par yeh bhi mumkin ho na sakaa...
Kya hai yeh maamla, Janu naa
Main janu naa
Dil sambhal ja zara
Phir mohabbat karne chala hai tu
Dil yahin ruk ja zara
Phir mohabbat karne chala hai tu
Dil sambhal ja zara
Phir mohabbat karne chala hai tu
