Parmar finds it difficult to play a 45-year-old in Kumkum

Juhi Parmar seems to be taking a lot of time to get used to being 'ma', after the generation leap in her show, Kumkum. Not known to throw tantrums, Parmar shocked the unit members when she made demands for a change in dialogues.

Director Ashish Patil says, "She has asked for a change in dialogue. On a couple of occasions previously, certain lines were changed as Juhi couldn't relate to them. Juhi has been trying to play a 45-year-old mother of two but she cannot relate to dialogue like 'Ab toh humari umar ho gai hai... (You are aged now)' and 'Tum toh do bachchon ki maa ho... (You are a mother of two) etc. Juhi is a young girl and is supposed to play a woman twice her actual age. If she has issues about it, they are only normal. It takes time for an actor to come to terms with her character. She isn't able to understand that it's Kumkum who has aged, not her." Ashish insists that Juhi has no issues with the younger lot of actors in the show.

"All said and done the show belongs to Juhi and Hussain. It's a story about their life and it stays that way despite our presence," says Vivan Bhatena who plays Kumkum's son.

Bhatena admits that Juhi feels uneasy about their on-screen mother-son relationship. "I think actors should understand that playing an older character is a challenge. Why feel jittery? I've played a father of two in Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and in real life I'm not even married," he says.

As far as Juhi is concerned, he says, "She is like a real 'momma' on the sets and often advises us." Juhi Parmar was unavailable for comment.
