Laachi and Radha make up. Phulmani, the wife of Vishnu, cousin of Sarju, comes to visit and finds the child o.k. She, who had poisoned the milk of Laachi;s child is so afraid abd bluts out saying that she is saved. Lets the cat out of the bag.

In Phulmani's house her mother in law is in search of her. When she comes she asks where she went in the morning before making the tea. She tells the m-in-law that everything is ok in her aunt's house and babua is o.k.

MIL is relieved that a great burden has gone off her chest. Asks if her son is up. Phulmani wakes him up, but he shouts. Her husband Vishnu, wants to know what good news she has. Tells him that the nephew is ok. Phulmani wants her jewelry back, and wants it from her husband and goes on arguing with him. Husband puts her off.

In Ramdei's house her daughter, Jamuna's child cries. As Jamuna leaves she drops the hot vessel and her hand gets burned. Laachi helps. Ramdei enters and blames Laachi as usual, and yells at her, and Radha stops her. Laachi is asked by her MIL to put haldi on Jamuna. Radha wants to bring medicine.

Vishnu is planning to get hold of Sarju's money. Mother and son argue.

Tere Mere Sapne: Sarju buys a tractor.

Sambu and Heeraman, two brothers lived in the village. The former with his two sons, Kesu and Sarju, helping him in the fields. The younger had been playful, and then gone to Mumbai, but what type of life and difficulties he had to go through there, his family did not know. How he got the wealth is also hidden from his family, but the viewers have seen it, and find his family petty minded, but can not be faulted, as he has not given them a chance.

His cousin Vishnu too is only noticing the wealth but not the love that is hidden in his heart. He does not appreciate Sarju's generosity. Vishnu is surrounded by his greedy mother and petty wife, who cooks for him. Her husband has sold her ornaments, and she is after him to get them back. He is a loafer and does not work. His father Hiramal, comes back, and upbraids him, and the women. They want him to go to the ancestral home, but he nurses old grievance and does not want to go. The wife has ideas, of grandeur, but he does not see it.

In Sarju's house, his father and brother are gentle and kind, but his mother is a shrew as usual, pouncing on her daughter in law, Laachi, for no other reason other than, she is not giving her an heir. She does not know her own son is infertile, but blames the daughter in law, whose medical report showed she was fertile, but Kalki the secnd wife of Kesu, had hidden this truth from the family for her own ends.

Now that Kalki's son has been accepted as Laachi's son, the latter is happy, especially after the child was saved from great danger recently. Radha is very helpful in the house, and Jamuna is always with her child.

Kesu comes home early, from the fields, with his plough and is injured in his leg, and is bleeding. Ramdei, his mother sees and is upset, and the first thing she does, as one would expect, clamors for Laachi, and orders her to bring Haldi Ka Lep. The daughter in law, gives the child to Ramdei, and goes in to bring the medicine. Ramdei, sours her face, and complains that bad luck has come on her today. While Laachi apples the turmeric ointment, on the wound on her husband's foot, Radha watches. Sarju enters and sees his brother wounded and is upset, and goes inside.

Sarju speaks to his wife, that life in the village is hard and he wonders if he can work here. Radha tells him, that world has changed, and it is not necessary to use a bull and a plough. Sarju understands that with the money he has he can buy a tractor and all other amenities and make life in his house better.

This is a hint given by the serial to the villagers of our country, that with the loans and facilities given by the government, one could use their own intelligence to improve their lives, if only they can keep the rituals and life in proper perspective, as Sarju will show later.

Ramdei asks where Sarju is, and Laachi tells her that he left early in the morning without telling any one. Later she hears some noise outside, and goes out with a stick to stop who ever was making it. It happens to be her son Sarju, driving his new tractor, with all kitchen utensils and a washing machine and refrigerator and a mixer. Sarju tells his wife to bring Arthi ki thali, and give thanks to God for the blessings he has showered on them..The producers have not shown when the electricity was connected. Perhaps he has brought a generator as well.

When all are excited, Vishnu comes and ingratiates himself to Sarju and the latter gives him some money and his mother watches, and does not approve. She wants all for herself. Then she clamors for Laachi, as is her habit, and asks her to bring tea, and prepare the food for Sarju. Sarju, being gentle as he is, tells his mother, that Laachi should spend time looking after the baby, and Radha will do the cooking.
He assures the mother, that his wife has not forgotten her cooking when she was in the city.

Radha goes to the kitchen, and uses her new pressure cooker, and is amused thinking of the reaction of the family at the speed she took in preparing the food. She warms up the milk for the babies too.

Sarju tells Radha to stitch a button on his shirt. She tells him that she will do so after she finishes the cooking. Radha goes in, and after a little while Sarju too leaves, saying he forgot to tell Radha which shirt needed button.

In the room, behind closed doors, Sarju becomes romantic with Radha.

In this serial episode, we see that we need not forget our culture, our religious practices, as well as the modern amenities. All have a place in our lives. Modernity and faith, can co-exist, as all good things come because of Divine acceptance of our way of life. Those who forget this, eventually become like empty vessels only fit to make noise and not produce any thing of worth in this world. India can show the way to the rest of the world.

Life in the village changes as Sarju introduces house appliances in the kitchen Radha has transformed the kitchen to some extent. Even though the Chula is old, the pressure cooker is new. This little gadget is seen as something to be afraid of, by the rest of the family, and all approach it with awe.

Radha removes the veil of fear, and guides the old into the new world. Villagers watching this serial are likely to look forward to better days in their lives too. All things are possible, if knowledge of the new is given to those who are still living in the darkness of old misconceptions and fears, and kept tied down to tradition, without using their own minds.

Two families of two brothers are an example of what can be done and what is done to leave them behind.

The workmanship in this serial, whether it is in direction, cinematography, script is of a high standard, and the only reason one can guess, for the Channel to give it the 1 o'clock slot, is they must be expecting only the die hard viewers will still keep the tv on at this time.

The problem of Jamuna is highlighted in the night scene, when their T.V. viewing is interrupted by a commotion in the village, and a mother is beating her daughter for refusing to get married to a person whom she calls an old man. The reason which her mother gives is touching a raw nerve in Jamunia. Both the mother of Champa and Jamuna are similar. In both cases, their husbands leave because they have given birth to a girl. In the case of the older girl, who can not find a husband puts a fear in Jamuna, as to what would happen to her.

Radha tries to comfort her and gives her courage. She tells her that she is loved by the whole family, but Radha has not seen, what has transpired in the past, when she was in Mumbai. Ramdei's attitude does not help, and the consequences of the foolish behavior of this mother will be apparent in the next episode, when the whole family will be drowned in sorrow.

Hope they will not ruin this serial too with twists and turns as we see in other 'popular' serials.

Summary:

The episode starts with a family of Sarju in mourning. Radha is the only person not crying, but stands in a stunned expression. As she is shown to pull out the bed sheet from the body of the dead person, and she sees the face of her sister in law, Jamuna, she wakes up from her sleep. Radha has been shown in previous episodes also to have had dreams like these. Perhaps it portends something bad to happen.

Sarju opens his eyes, and sees his wife agitated, and wants to know what bothers her. She pretends to go back to sleep, but the camera shows, her eyes are open.

In Jamuna's room, she too is not able to sleep, and the previous days experience haunts her, and thinks, it is no use to end her life, as her child will have neither father or mother, and she makes up her mind to leave the house, and search for some work,and look after herself and her child in dignity, rather than get taunted by her mother and neighbours. As she packs and tries to open the door, Radha is waiting for her.

Radha speaks to her and makes her change her mind. The next day there is Pooja in the temple for all married couples. Jamuna stays at home. Her cousin Phulmani and Aunt Laxhmi are there hinting at Jamuna's predicament.

When all have gone to the temple, Jamuna packs up and leaves. In the temple, Radha after the Pooja asks her mother in law's permission and goes home, but finding Jamuna not at home, she goes out. On the way out a lady had seen Jamuna with the child and a bag. She must have given the hint to Radha, so she goes towards the bus stop, and sees the bus leave. Jamuna had just entered the bus, and it is on the move. Radha runs after it asking the driver to stop.

A confrontation and an accident

Thursday, 24th February, was quite a good show. Sarju takes his mother, with his wife, on a hired Omni, to go to Jamuna's in laws. He takes costly gifts to offer them and to request them to accept his sister back. Instead, there is a war of words.

Jamuna's mother had just finished her meeting with the Pandit, and was in high spirits, when her in-laws entered with high hopes. What ensured was a war of words. Both Ramdei and Sarju lost their temper, and Radha tried to pacify, but to no avail. Finally Sarju threatened legal action, and in reply his opponent, argued that his mother too should go to jail, for getting Kesu married twice, just to get an heir to her family. Finally they leave for home with their gifts in their hands.

In the village, Vishnoo is being baited by two famous villains of the village, and as they see Kesu coming on the bike, instigate Vishnoo to ask him for a ride. . Vishnoo sits on the bike, but being stupid, does not realize what is good for him.

Hardly had Vishnoo started the ride, he falls and is injured, and the bike is damaged. Seeing blood flowing, Vishnoo rushes home where is mother makes fuss over him while his father abuses him and his wife and leaves the house.

Ramdei enters the house in a huff, and Jamuna is disappointed.

Sarju tells Radha that he will lodge an F.I.R. in the Police Station.

Hope the regular Update Writer will give us more details on this episode.

I am afraid, in all this rush, Sarju will not find that haste is generally a waste of time.

Phulmani goes to the Baba to get advice. Both are "laalchi" and she gets her tips and comes home.

At home her m-in-l shouts and then she goes to Ramdei house and makes some jadu.

Ramdei comes out and finds something on the ground and shouts.

Radha has gone to meet Jamuna's husband to ask him to reconsider. Nothing doing. He is bent on doing what his mother is going to tell her.

She comes home empty handed.

What will Sarju do?

Meera's escaoade is exposed.by Radha and Vishnoo. They bring in Chaudri, at whose son's engagement party, Rani Bai, aka Meera, danced and how she planned to con the Malla family of Sarju. Meera's antics were a low in the construction of the serial, but now that they have resolved it, hope they will come out with more positive tracts, to show, that even the villagers are capable of thinking, and in the past have achieved and reached heights. Perhaps, the producers, should open the eyes of the city dwellers, that those who bring food on their tables are not fools whom they can take for a ride.

My request to this producer is to improve his show, and give us good stuff, to think about.

I can try because I'm free and India are ahead 4 hours so I can watch the episode in advance and then write up the update.

After the segment where Meera has to leave home, there was a large segment until recently, when Kalki the ex wife of Sambu returns to take her revenge, and in this too, she is exposed and leaves home with a lot of cash, with her child. This follows, with Laachi's depression, and she goes through a phase of madness, and ultimately recovers. When that happens, the current segment has started, where the old Kamya Oberoi, has returned as a holy woman, and has caught up the imagination of Ramdei, who does not see any evil in any one else, but her own. Now Kamya has poisoned her mind, and she has turned against Radha, and the segment tries to extract tears from the gullible and the story drags on. When the time comes to start a new segment, Kamya will be exposed, and a new segment will start, unless Star Plus gets a better producer with a better show. Till then keep watching, either the show at one p.m. or the videos which Dhruvi kindly posts regularly.
