Tanu Weds Manu, a film that turned out to be one of the most surprising hits of the year, did not just help director Anand Rai score the first hit of his career but also helped lead actorsKangna RanautandMadhavanget their first major solo hits.

However, for the sequel, director Anand Rai unlike other film makers, is in no mood to stick to his winning cast. Reportedlty,Shahid Kapoormight be the one romancing Kangna in the project. Madhavan, who played Manu in the film will no longer be a part of the sequel.

A source told Mumbai Mirror, "Anand Rai made his debut with the film Strangers a few years back. However, despite positive reviews, the film failed to make a mark at the box office. After that Rai made Tanu Weds Manu, which turned out to be one of the biggest hits of the year. He now wants to make a bigger film with A-list actors. That's the reason he has been meeting Shahid Kapoor these days."

The source also revealed that Anand Rai has discussed not one but two scripts with Shahid. He has given the actor a choice to work in either film - Tanu Weds Manu sequel or Ranjhana. Preferably both. "Shahid is currently going through both the scripts. He is still to decide which one he wants to be a part of," added the source.

While usually, the leading lady is the one who gets changed in sequels, Tanu Weds Manu will be the first where the lead actor has been replaced. "The success of Tanu Weds Manu has been attributed mainly to Kangna's character. Rai obviously wants to retain her in the film. But since he wants a bigger film, he has approached an A-list actor Shahid Kapoor," said the source.

When contacted Anand Rai said, "I am in the process of finalising the drafts of my two films right now. Yes, I am meeting actors but it is too early to say who will be in either film."

I don't understand why I feel this way because I like Shahid...I really do, but every time I hear of him being paired with someone I wonder---whithout even trying----"Which one will play the boy?"
