Ghanimi Kava was not something new pioneered by Shivaji. He used it most effectively as compared to anybody else .
Guerrilla tactics were pretty old. If some of the forum members remember the Rani Padmini serial, after the 'Saka' & Jauhar' of Ratan Sen and Padmini, Chittor remains with invaders for about 20+ years. Rajputs won it back using Guerrilla warfare.
