The Why of Mayank Sharma.

My favourite all time scene of MN is in my last post, the why of Mayank part two. The fight, 'ladki ke paas jaane ki soch na bhi mat' gets me every time. Even now my pulse is racing out towards the stars.😳
Then the pinnacle, my favourite of favourite parts...when he goes over to Nupur and gives her the duppatta back, that look of concern, anger, haya, all rolling around his mind. I don't know why but I always think of Aunty Shilpa at this point, that Mayank isn't doing this for only Nupur but all women. His upbringing by Aunty Shilpa has made him unable to tolerate the belittling of any woman.

Then he turns around, that cold hard rock of a stare. I have been randomly assaulted by the thought of this moment many times and just fallen off my perch!

The whole conversation with Nupur after the fight, both of them unable to repress the tenderness from pouring forth despite the fact they are able to barely look at one another. Then their honest confession. She is his friend and she in return is most grateful for that. I swear when she compliments him, there is a big smile across his heart that although doesn't show upon his lips it is written across his soul in plain view. The end 'heart ya haath' question leaves me in stitches too.

In 'the why of Mayank part one, my favourite line of MJHT by chiruji, of all people ...the whole shut up ka sirf ek mathlab hai, chup raiheye, wo bhi gusse wale anger mein. I am laughing now 🤣Gautam's expressions and tone are perfection.

Arjun was exceptional. All those nuances of within each stare. It wasn't just testosterone fuelled raw indignation but he managed to exude humbleness and concern too. Captivating.
The whole 'my brain has left me speech' coupled with that perturbed 'I can't be in love' exasperation! He pulled of deluded, mystified, little boy lost, out of his depth and drowning in confusion to a legend of a performance. Nupur was endearing as the 'victim' to his mess of emotions. She never gives up on him, always open to a reunion. That when he turns up, it doesn't just say 'thank goodness someone has turned up, her look of relief that 'it is Mayank' that he came in her dire need.

You may ponder why the need for secrecy of my all time favourite MN scene. This is very personal. If you knew me you would understand more, I won't bore you with details. Lets just say that although I have let go on my childhood imaginings of my warrior/protector saving me from myself and loneliness, IT has not let go of me!😳 Let me elucidate, I do not promote the whole 'damsel in distress' role. Have you seen 'Everafter'? At the end of the film, the heroine saves herself, the hero turns up with sword in hand to save her but there is no need. However it is that he turned up That is what I name as love, that someone has my back, willingly to stand beside me. That feeling of comfort, of companionship, of a fortress of love is incomparable to any other.

With love, Sabah

Sabah Di this was so marvallously written👏

Haan, it is what me and Senny termed as dependent independence. That though you stand alone for most of your days, part of your strength comes from being a part of something united. To quote Kahlil Gibran

Love one another, but make not a bond of love:
So true How great it would feel to be able to love without having any attachment ,no desire to get anything in return. I personally feel it would save our hearts from so much hurt
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls...

...Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.

*sighs* these lines touched and enlightened me so much. Dil se thanks for posting them here. I'll try to remember them throughout my life

And stand together yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow.

Dil se thanks for sharing and supplementing as well as substantiating this sentiment, for it is something I am come to hold dear and sacred.

So back to that scene from Everafter. This is the point when she has just saved herself from the clutches of a vile man, he comes rushing to save her but it is all unneeded now, OR is it? She looks a mess, he is humbled by his lateness, she asks what are you doing here? He replies awkwardly I came to rescue you Almost laughing at his statement BUT the truth is his noble intention has indeed found manifestation, for though he failed to save her body, he managed to save her heart and her soul beams out brighter for it. Her weariness at life fades away and she is rejuvenated.

I just loved the moment at 0:52.The confidence this girl has is indeed commendable.I haven't seen the movie but I presume she must have faced a lot of difficult times in life to have that kind of attitude.I really am in awe of her emotional strength.

If I may add I loved this dialogue'"I kneel before you not as a prince but as a man in love"

I have never seen everafter but this scene made me smile and I'd love to watch it sometime'thankyou so much for posting the clip here

This is what I seek from my love, dependent independence for it is the same love that my parents bestowed upon me by which I am able to bear the harshness of the world and the cruelness of people, AND it is by this love that I am able to accept as well as repay the generousity of friendship.

EDIT: To elucidate further, it is like the situation with MN, during the eve teasing track, that moment after the TV interview, Nupur senses that look of concern on Mayank's face, she knows that he may even reprimand her for taking such a bold action BUT he loves her, he supports her and that support is where she had initially found the strength to take such dangerous steps in the first place. Dependent independence. 😃

So true,a part of Nupur's strength came from Mayank's support.I remember the scene'the look on Mayank's face said it all'even thye gang members understood that Mayank was angry and was not happy with the situation..

And when Mayank confronted her he was like "Tum ye sab akele kaise kar sakti ho" and her reply came "mai akele kaha hut um jo mere sath ho"

I read it somewhere that "true loving meanks full acceptance, even celebration of another's personhood"'and this is how I perceive MN

Again, I loved the manner the CV's wrote the end, how Nupur saves herself from the thugs and goons, that strength to fight within her, being part of her character BUT strengthened by that love she has of her Husband and lover as well as her sister.

Even I loved the way CVS wrote the end.I remember there was huge smile on my face when I saw Nupur fighting with those thugs. It reminded me of the reason I fell in love with this character in the first place. She was her own savior:)

To quote myself on Nupur, 😳
She was a lovable magpie of sorts, allured by the glitz and glamour of this world but always returning home, to her roots; to what is important and nourishing. She wasn't afraid to dream; have her ambitions sky high because she knew she could depend upon being grounded by the love of her sister and then subsequently her lover; she became confident to be her irrepressible self.

I've never read a better description of Nupur till date. She indeed was an enigma..

My only grumble was that I would have loved to have seen Mayank coming to her rescue, Everafter style, so that though his act is unneeded, being that Nupur can take care of herself, they show that he ALWAYS has her back. 😃

To be honest I hated the way they showed Mayank during that episode.I could not relate to this Mayank even a bit.Even when that politician was misbehaving with Nupur,he just stood there! I understand that he was a very calm and composed kind of a person but we all have seen how protective he has always been of Nupur .Still I have no qualms with Mayank, whatever dissatisfaction I have is with the way cvs handled a classy character like Mayank during that track and then subsequently the baby trackLBut as they it's a part of the past so...

With much love, Sabah

Its always a pleasure to read your thoughts Sabah Di.Thank you so much for enlightening me.IF is really lucky to have you and I am very sorry for the delay in replying, college tests kept me busy:(

mostly people already said everything so nothing left for me😆 but i would love to say that when one of Goon said that to Mayank "tumhari gharwali lagati hain kya" at that time we or Mayank or Nupur didnt know that after one year Mayur will get married and become most cute and adorable couple 😍

and yes once Sharma fans will always be Sharma fan and i really love this Mr. and Mrs. Sharma😳
