Six films to cut into each other's business this w

This is bad. Really bad. As many as half a dozen films are clashing with each other this weekend which means there would be an intense cry of pain that would be most definitely heard across theatres all over the country. It is impossible to believe that filmmakers out there, despite knowing well in advance about the impending clash, didn't move around their release dates when it could have been so much beneficial for all involved. On the contrary each and every of them seems to be gung-ho about the fortunes of his film.

So now there is John Abraham's 'Force', the biggest of them all, vying for audience attention even as there is all around competition surrounding it. This film could well have been a 'Singham' moment for the makers but the promotional drive didn't quite pitch it to that level. On the other hand promotion of 'Hum Tum Shabana' started with a bang but the kind of finishing touch that one expected to make it sit pretty amongst the likes of a 'Double Dhamaal' or a 'Delhi Belly', both being comedy outings, was missing. Ditto for 'Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster' that made a huge mark when it's first theatrical promo was launched but just couldn't capitalise thereafter.

Amongst the three films, while 'Force' and 'Hum Tum Shabana' would be contend to see an opening in the range of 50%, 'Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster' would have to depend entirely on word of mouth.

Another film that could well have arrived on another day and seen some decent footfalls coming it's way is 'Tere Mere Phere'. However uninspiring promos coupled with patchy promotion means that there is struggle ahead for this Vinay Pathak film that would feel lucky to cross the 20% mark. 'Chargesheet', a Dev Anand film, would be lucky to match the collections of 'Tere Mere Phere' as it seems totally outdated with a 70s look and feel to it. On the other hand a small time film called 'Na Jaane Kabse..' with a newcomer couple (Garry Gill, Amrita Prakash) would be fortunate to find an all-India release.
