Shraddha Nigam, Mayank Anand in love
Prime time television stars turned fashion designers Shraddha Nigam and Mayank Anand looked every inch much in love couple going by the way they looked deep into each other's eyes, held hands, echoed each other's thoughts and seemed happy to be together.
The once best friends and colleagues started off collaborating professionally and fell in love somewhere along the way. Shraddha stole hearts as the firebrand lady detective Krishna in Krishna Arjun a few years ago, while Mayank's last telly appearance was as Dr Rahul in Dill Mill Gaye. Ironically, Mayank and Shraddha first met on the sets, thanks to Karan Singh Grover, the petite Shraddha's first husband and eventually went to become good friends.
Shraddha has been missing in action from television for sometime now. Is that deliberate? Shraddha says, "I'm an actor and will always be one. But, I'll show up on small screen when good content shows up! I don't want to be a part of daily soaps as they have nothing interesting to offer." To which Mayank chips in, "Designing is a priority for us. We are concentrating on new ideas which gives us no time for other projects."
Mayank is quite a multitasker ' besides designing, he's a painter, poet, anchors shows and directs plays. Shraddha admits with a smile, "We believe in fulfilling our interests so that we don't repent in future thinking ' arre yeh cheez nahi kar paye!" Both share a mutual dislike for reality TV shows. They echo similar sentiments when they say, "We are performers, why do we have to make an exhibition of ourselves in front of others? And why should anyone have fun when the chips are down? We might anchor a reality show but participating in one is out of question."
As talk veers to their love story, they admit that as telly professionals they never "interacted much", but discovered over a period of time that they shared the same thoughts on "fashion. It's been over a year since we started to work together and became great friends." Shraddha looks almost radiant as she blushes, "It's a miracle that we fell in love! I never thought we'd ever fall in love. I'm glad about us." So who proposed? Mayank says jokingly, "She used to whistle at me from her balcony when I used to pass by. (laughs again) Actually, no one proposed. We simply understood the way we felt about each other."
For now, the lovestuck duo is planning a line up of furniture and interior designing, as they put it, "we're creating ideas together." Mayank is penning a cookbook as well.
The two were in Ahmedabad to promote their latest collection of apparels at Nautanky. And like all celeb visitors Shraddha and Mayank were keen on, "having dinner at Vishalla." Famous last words, we say!
