Difference between Dusshera and Navratri?

Hey Guys,

I know this may be a really stupid question, but is there a difference between Dusshera and Navratri? I know Navratri is the celebration of the nine forms of Goddess Durga, Dusshera occurs at the same time and in South India, it celebrates Goddess Durga's victory over the demon Mahishasura. I think the celebration of Ram's victory over Ravan is celebrated prominently in North India, right?

Is it written in Valmiki Ramayan the exact astrological date in which Ravan was killed by Ram? Also, in which purana does it describe Durga Devi's victory over Mahishasura?

From what I understand, Navratri is the 9 nights preceding Dusshera. Anybody correct me if I'm wrong

Dushahara is also known as Vijay Dashmi falls on the 10th day after nights nights of Durga Puja are over

Navratri and Dashahara have unrelated stories

Though Lord Ram also offered prayer to the Godess in order to be victorious

Actually there are four Navratries

Two are known as gupta Navratris and are not celebrated

One falls in October Amd is greatly celebrated

Other one falls in April. it is also celebrated but not as mych

Ram Navmi falls on the ninth day of this Navratri

The exact date of killing of Ravan is document in Ramayan, it was pre decided in heaven

Yes and "coincidentally"Ramnavmi is also on the "10th"day after Navratri.(the one which falls in april usually)
