Gulaal bids adieu
STAR Plus' Gulaal ended with a happy ending and we caught up with the lead of Gulaal to talk about their experience on the show, the end of the show, their memories and future plans.
Neil Bhatt, who came on the show to play Kesar, says, "Working on a show like Gulaal has been amazing. I was on the show for five months but I got to learn a lot. Mostly characters are developed to the hilt in five or six months but Kesar grew up in first month itself. I got the chance to work with talented director and costars which I will treasure. I focused on the positive aspect of the show instead of crying that it ended. My costars have become like a family just like the cast of my first show Karol Bagh. The seniors on the show -be it Mohan Joshiji or Sushantji and others were so down to earth and shared a warm bond with me off screen."
Neil thoroughly enjoyed playing Kesar, he adds, "Kesar was a complex character yet simple. He seemed complex to others but in his mind he was clear. His brother's killer was in the house and he was in love with Gulaal. The situations made things complex for him. I love the scene when I tell Gulaal in a drunk state that 'tu meri pareshani hai'. Kesar for the first time lets out all his anger and frustration in life." As for future, he has nothing planned and will let life take its course.
Sushant Singh, who makes few appearances on television, was seen as the grayish villain Dushyant in the show who killed Gulaal's husband Vasant. Talking about his experience, Sushant states, "Gulaal was a great experience. I made new friends, interacted with a cool creative team and applauded the effort of writer director Sidharth Sengupta. I found what I had expected in terms of role, detailing, execution of the show. I don't pick up all roles on television so Dushyant was special. He wasn't your usual negative villain but someone who was human and could make a mistake. I had to portray him as humanly as possible with his ego, his guilt and his love for a girl he can never have." Sushant hasn't got any offers worth considering from television, so he is happy to bid his time.
Mansi Parekh, who is all smiles about her show Gulaal ending, claims, "I am glad Gulaal had a good run ' a whole year and was accepted for the new and different storyline. The role of Gulaal was challenging for me and I am very glad I did it. The whole year that I played Gulaal was wonderful. This mature character started from the journey of a girl who could find water, to her husband Vasant's death to the deyarvatu and finally marrying her devar Kesar. I got the chance to work with talented actors like Sushant Singh, Mohan Joshi, Rahil Azim and others. My director, producer and writers have been fantastic too."
What is next in store for Mansi? "I am going on vacation for a while and then I have a show in line. I am a singer too. So will see what happens next."
