Kollywood's Ilayathalapathy Vijay is going a step ahead when it comes to supporting anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare, who is on an indefinite fast in New Delhi, pressing for a powerful Jan Lokpal Bill.
Even as his counterparts conducted a one-day token hunger strike in Chennai on Tuesday, Vijay is taking a flight to the countr's capital today to meet in person Anna Hazare and his supporters at the Ramlila Grounds.
According to sources, Vijay always believed that corruption should be eradicated from the country and the society should be free of all evils. "So he is offering his support to Anna who is fighting for these causes," they say.
On Tuesday, Superstar Rajinikanth too expressed his support to Anna. "I am very happy that we have a very able and dedicated leader in Anna Hazare to lead us in this fight against corruption. This kind of peaceful movement is possible only in India which is the birthplace of Satyagraha," he said in a statement.
The numero uno actor of Tamil film industry added: "I congratulate all the Indians who have lent their support to this bloodless revolution. I am very proud to be an Indian. Jai Hind."
Addressing the crowd in the presence of Anna, Vijay said, "His hunger protest at the age of 75 shows his determination. His love for the nation is visible with this fast of him. He is creating a great awareness."
The actor, who is heading a social welfare organisation called Makkal Iyakkam, further stated: "A lot of youngsters, especially students, have been supporting Anna Hazare. As a Tamilian, I would like to convey my wishes and support to him."
Stating that Makkal Iyakkam would stand behind Anna and his fight, Vijay added that it was a proud moment for him to take part in the hunger protest at Ramlila Maidan. Office-bearers of his fan clubs accompanied Vijay.
"The film is about a common man who hails from Tuticorin and establishes his network around the world. Vijay plays a much wanted person who is in the radar of police departments of almost all countries," sources say.
An action thriller, the script will be totally new to Tamil cinema, they say and add: "Yohan Adhyayam Ondru will be an edge-of-the-seat entertainer and it will go on floors by the beginning of next year, that is, 2012."
To be produced by Photon Kathaas Productions, a company run by Gautham himself, the movie will have music by A R Rahman, cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa. "Gautham will now start a film with Jiiva and will begin Yohan after its release," sources add.
