03 August 2004 (Aged 21)
I woke up from the bright sun coming through the window. I looked around at what I saw everyday.
Cracked walls, damp ceiling, chipped paint, dirty floor, and my very small room that was meant for me and my sister.
I screamed.
"AAAHHH!!!!" I yelped and stood up from the floor. My sister Meera immediately barged into the room with a broomstick in her hands.
Meera: "Who? What? When? Where?!" she exclaimed and looked around the room frantically.
"C-C-C-Cockroach!!" I stuttered and pointed to the floor.
Meera rolled her eyes and breathed a sigh of relief.
Meera: "That's why you were screaming? And here I thought some burglar broke in and stole our jewellery. Or even worse, some rapist came and --"
"Meera, take that cockroach away before my brain explodes" I said and hid behind my sister.
The brave Meera came to my rescue. She picked the cockroach up from the end of it's leg and threw it out the window.
I finally let go of my breath and walked up to the bucket of water. I filled water in my hands and was about to drink when Meera slapped my hands, causing the water to spill everywhere.
"What have you done? You know how short we are on water" I exclaimed, wishing I could undo everything that just happened.
Meera: "What about today? It's Teej. Your fasting"
"Meera, we barely have one meal a day and your talking about fasting?"
Meera: "I don't care. I'm off to my job. Your going to get our platters ready for tonight and our clothes"
"There are no clothes to 'ready'. We always wear the same saree's every year anyway" I answered back
Meera looked away.
Meera: "At least don't treat me like this. I'm not living for very long any --"
"Shut up!" I ordered and threw my arms around Meera's neck, completely squeezing her. I felt tears prick my eyes.
"I can't imagine living a life without you. Your the one who saves me from cockroaches. Your the one who tells me what to and what not to do. Your the one who has a job and can earn for our small house. Your the one --"
Meera: "Okay, okay. Now let me go, I need to get going" she said and wiped my tears away.
"Stay safe" I whispered
Meera waved and left the house. I was just about to head over to the kitchen to get a platter when Meera said something before leaving.
Meera: "No eating if you want a good husband" she said and left before I could even reply.

I sat down on the only chair we owned, adorned in my mum's saree she gave me before she passed away. Just as I finished the last touches to my and Meera's platter, Meera barged inside the house in a hurry.
Meera: "Oh God, I am so late. Sorry, Geet" she said so quickly, I couldn't even make sense at what see was saying at one point.
Meera: "Saree" she grabbed her Saree which I held in my hands and ran to the washroom to change. Two minutes later, she came out of the washroom, looking even beautiful than me.
Meera: "Shall we get going?" she said and held her platter in her hands.

We stood outside the temple, taking in the decorations, people, and sounds. Meera and I exchanged glances before walking up the stairs.
"Meera, you go ahead. I'm just gonna look at some bangles" I said, staring longingly at the beautiful bangles that were set on display on one of the stalls.
Meera: "Remember, we don't have any money to buy anything" she said
"I can't buy anything but at least I can dream" I replied back. Meera continued walking upstairs to her direction.
I walked up the stall and examined each colour and type of bangles. I had this urge to buy some with the money Meera gave me, but I knew that we needed the money for more important things.
Like food, and water.
I sighed and turned to the direction of stairs leading to the temple, only to feel light-headed and dizzy.
I put a hand to my head and blinked. My blurry vision thankfully disappeared.
Putting a hand to my itchy throat, I put a foot on a step and felt slightly dizzy again.
"Come on Geet, the veneration is about to start. Once I eat something, i'll be fine" I mumbled to myself and forced myself to take a few more steps. Once I reached the top of the stairs, it came to a point where I couldn't walk anymore.
I could see black haunting my eyes, and everything turn blurry again. I blinked, my vision turned even worse.
And then I fell into someone's arms af --

I glanced up and saw Muskaan sound asleep.
I reached to the bedside table and grabbed a bookmark. I placed it inside my diary and closed it, letting the tears fall and crash on my diary.
Putting the diary away, I walked out to the balcony and stared out at the beautiful scenery. I turned my head upwards and started staring at the bright moon instead.
"Where are you, Maan? Your d-daughter needs you. Muskaan needs you. I need you. I just wish I could..."
I let myself fall to the ground and allowed myself to bawl my eyes out.
Precap: "I'm Maan. Prince Maan Singh Khurana" he said and held his hand out for me to shake.
