Liked this chapter a lot...the right amount of intensity and suspense...on the one hand Onu tries so hard to protect her from whatever has been plaguing him from before and on the other he can't help but make her miserable, either way. And I love how eventually even he fails to break their love apart. Taani's little private monologue of how she can never hate Onu no matter how he is or what he does was very powerful...you could feel her pain. Also, the confrontation after the papercut scene was good -- it builds and builds and builds till Onu has to lay himself bare and practically beg her to leave what they have together alone.

Loved Robi in the precap...supportive little brother to the hilt! 😆

Chapter Three
..Anurag's Past..

The sun had set and the staffs went home as the office time was over .. Anurag wore his coat and came out of his cabin .. As he was going to the parking area, he passed by Taani's cabin and saw her working on her computer ..

"Taani abhi tak ghar nahi gayi? Abhi toh koi bus bhi nahi milegi.", Anurag said to himself confusedly and worriedly.

He entered Taani's cabin and said in an authoritative tone, "Taani, ghar chalo. Bohot der ho chuki hai."

"Mujhe bohot kaam hai. Main baad mein aayungi. Aap jaaiye!", said Taani in between typing on her computer.

"Kaam kal kar lena, abhi plz chalo.", Anurag said but this time, in a requesting tone.

Taani raised her eyes and said in a mocking way, "Aap achanak se mere baade mein kyun soch rahe hai? Kyun aap ko mere liye fikar ho rahe hai? And most importantly, Mr. Ganguly, kis haq se aap mujhse yeh sab kehe rahe hai?"

Anurag was dumbfounded by getting such a reply from Taani. It was totally unexpected for him. Tears formed in his eyes but he controlled it somehow and said, "Taani plz, der tak kaam karna tumhare liye theek nahi hai. Tumhe bad headache aate hai jab tum dimaag par itna pressure deti ho. So plz, meri baat maanlo aur chalo. Jid mat karo plz."

Taani noticed Anurag's teary eyes which calmed her in a second. She again tried to hate him but seeing those precious tears in the eyes of the man she loved madly, she couldn't help but loved him more.

Without arguing anymore, she nodded and walked towards him. Suddenly she lost her balance and fell in Anurag's strong arms. They shared a beautiful eye-lock, forgetting about the world and their agonies.

A breeze of cool air entered the cabin through the opened window and blew Taani's silky long hairs. This had added more serenity to her divine beauty. She looked breath taking, Anurag thought. He couldn't let his eyes go off from her.

After a while, they stood straight but their eye-lock was still going on. Anurag stepped closer to Taani and tucked the hairs on her face behind her ears. He touched her cheek and brought his face closer leaving just an inch distance between them. Taani closed her eyes feeling Anurag's warm breath on her cheek. They came closer and finally Anurag captured Taani's unresistant lips in a soft kiss.

"Taani! Kis khayaalo mein ho? Taani, are u alright? Hey!", Anurag said waving his hand in front of Taani. "Sapna tha!", Taani thought in mind and sighed. "Haan main theek hoon, chaliye!", Taani said and they headed outside the office.

Anurag stopped his car in front of Taani's house. Taani came out of the car. "Bye!", she said softly. "Bye!", Anurag said and left. Taani closed her eyes and led the tears shed which she had held back for a long time and entered her home.

While driving, tears flowed down from Anurag's eyes wetting his cheeks but he wiped those off and continued driving.

"Taani, tu aa gayi!", Laboni maa said giving a warm welcome hug to her daughter. "Maa, bohot thak gayi hoon. Juice banaakar leke aao naa. Ami room a jacchi (Main room mein jaati hoon).", Taani said breaking the hug.

"Tui jaa, ami ashchi (tu jaa, main aati hoon).", Laboni maa said kissing on Taani's forehead.

Taani went to her room, closed the door and threw herself on her bed. She immediately took out her cell phone from her purse and dialed someone's number and waited until to hear a response from the other line.

"Hellooo! Who's calling at midnight?", a girl said in her sleepy voice.

Taani smiled slightly and said, "Mauli, main bol rahi hoon, Taani."

Mauli jerked into a sitting position and said with a huge grin on her face, "Taani, tu? Kaisi hai? Life kaisi chal rahi hai? Laboni maa kaisi hai?"

Taani slammed her palm with her forehead and said, "Durga re durga! Aeto proshno (Itne sawaal!) Thoda break mar yaar. Main theek hoon. Life bas chal rahi hai kisi bhi tarah. Aur Laboni maa bhi acchi hai. Tu bata? Teri Canadian life kaisi chal rahi hai? And sorry yaar ki maine tujhe itni raat ko phone kiya.", saying that, she frowned.

"Taani, meri Canadian life toh acchi chal rahi hai par tu itna dukhi sound kyun kar rahi hai? Koi problem hai kya?", Mauli asked concernedly.

Taani sighed and said, "Mauli, tu kuch dino ke liye India aa sakti hai? Mujhe teri bohot zarurat hai.", saying that, she almost cried and Mauli could sense that.

"Taani, tui kanchish naki? (tu ro rahi hai kya?)", Mauli asked, shocked.

Taani sniffed and said, "Mauli plz mere paas aa jaa. I need u badly."

"Main subha ke flight se India aa rahi hoon but plz yaar, tu aise ro maat. Plzz! Main tujhe aise rote huye nahi dekh sakti.", Mauli requested Taani.

Taani wiped off her tears and said with a forceful smile, "Accha baba! Nahi royungi. But plz tu jaldi se aaja."

"Don't worry, main 2 din mein tere ghar pohoch jayungi. Theek hai?", Mauli asked.

Taani slightly smiled and said, "Chal theek hai, bye!"

"Bye!", saying that, Mauli hung down the phone.

There was a knock at Taani's knock. "Taani, darwaza khol.", Laboni maa said from outside. Taani quickly wiped off her tears from the corner of her eyes, so that her mom didn't get suspicious. Then she opened the door.

Anurag entered his house and was shocked to see Robindo sitting on the sofa in the hall. Seeing Anurag, Robi ran to him and hugged him. "Dada! Main aap ka intezaar kar raha tha."

"Tu hostel se kab aaya?", Anurag said hugging his brother back. "Bas, subha hi vapaas aaya. Anyways, aap kaise hai dada?", he said with a huge smile on his face.

"Theek hoon aur tu?", Anurag said in his as-usual rude voice. Robi smilingly said, "Main ekdum first class hoon. Waise, Taani kaisi hai dada?", he asked the question in a teasing tone.

Anurag glared at Robi and Robi nervously lowered his eyes. "Main fresh hokar aata hoon.", Anurag said and headed towards the stairs.

"Dada! Ek baat suniye.", Robi said seriously and Anurag stopped though he didn't turn back. "Aap ko aap ka past bhulkar aage barna hoga. Aise aur kab tak chalega? Past mein jo hua woh sirf ek accident tha, that was not your fault."

"Robi, tu dinner ke liye table par baith, main change karke aata hoon.", Anurag said in a calm voice ignoring what Robi said. Saying that, he started ascending the stairs when Robi spoke out again in a high tone, "Dada plz! Aap humesha ki tarah yeh baat ignore nahi kar sakte. Kyun nahi apna lete aap Taani ko? Woh aap se bohot pyaar karti hai aur aap bhi usse bohot pyaar karte hai, so what's the problem?"

Anurag couldn't tolerate anymore. He turned around like a storm and shouted, "THE PROBLEM IS MY PAST! PROBLEM YEH HAI KI MAIN EK MURDERER HOON. I KILLED MY WIFE! MY DAUGHTER CHAHAT HATES ME FOR THAT! AND YES, I DESERVE IT, AFTER ALL, I KILLED THE GIRL WHO LOVED ME MADLY! I KILLED THE MOTHER OF MY CHILD! AUR MAIN YEH NAHI CHAHTA KI MERE PAST KA SAYA BHI TAANI KE UPAR PADHE! MAIN NAHI CHAHTA KE TAANI KO WOH NAFRAT SEHENA PADHE JO MAIN SEHETA HOON.", saying that, he started crying on the stairs.

Robi ran to his brother and hugged him tight. Tears formed in his eyes and he said in between his sob, "Dada, Nupur bhabhi ki maut sirf ek accident thi. Aap ki koi galti nahi thi. Plz don't blame urself. Chahat bhi yeh baat jaldi samajh jayegi.", saying that, he rubbed Anurag's back to console him and decided not to say anything about Taani because he couldn't see his brother breaking down like this.
