PART TWO
Waking up with Maan beside you was always a nightmare. Maan had the most outrageous and disgusting habit of farting early morning under the covers. And anyone sleeping beside him, would have to either die suffocated under the blanket or run for their lives. That is why Maan literally never "sleeps" with girls; he does his deed and bids farewell.
Geet was so worn out that she forgot to get out of Maan's room before his 6 o'clock alarm. Maan always woke up early and hit the gym. He liked to stay fit and in shape. Girls always were attracted to his fine and shapely stature.
FART.
One. Two. Three.
"AAA" Geet screamed from under the covers.
Maan was awake now, still in a dazed state, trying to understand the situation and where the scream came from. He clearly did not remember Geet was with him the entire night. He never saw Geet as a "female", she was his best buddy. They knew each other since the time they both roamed around in diapers. He could never understand how Yash and Geet could get attracted to each other. But they did and he just found it weird.
"What the hell! What are you doing in my bed?" Maan shouted at her for disrupting his peaceful sleep.
"Oh My God! you MORON! Don't you remember I slept with you last night?" Geet shouted back.
"Clearly I only remember important things and you are not important. Now get out of my room and let me sleep." Maan told her and went back to sleep.
Pulling the cover off of him, she shouted, "You Jerk! You bloody farted and that is why my sleep got ruined! What is wrong with you Maan? Why can't you just NOT fart for one day?"
"Hey! My ass, my gas…what is it with you?" Maan said sitting right up on his bed and trying to pull back the blanket from Geet's grasp.
"Yea fine your ass and your gas…but give the rest of the world a day pass" She replied rolling her eyes.
"Stop rhyming and get lost okay? I was thinking of passing on my work out today. I feel so lazy" He said yawning.
"Do you remember anything we talked about last night? Yash is leaving me! How can you think of sleeping?" Geet screamed her lungs out.
Knock. Knock.
"WHAT?" Both Geet and Maan shouted at the person knocking the door.
It was Nakul, the Butler of the Khurana Mansion. Nakul was the head of all the butlers and the rest worked under him.
"Your Grandma is looking for you Master Maan." Nakul politely told him and left but made sure to stop and smile at Geet first. Nakul has been with the Khurana Family for years. The whole of the mansion ran under his supervision. Maan and Geet grew up infront of his eyes, and he was still astonished at how they both still argued in the same manner. There were even times when he would see either of them running with a knife to kill the other. Remembering those days, he smiled at himself and left Maan's room.
"Ok let's just call it a truce for now. Plus you better remember…my ass my gas!" Saying so, he stomped off to meet his most favorite person in the world, his Dadimaa.
"My favorite grandson!" Savitri Devi smiled at Maan with her arms wide open for him to come to her arms for a good morning hug.
Savitri Devi was the head of the Khurana Empire. Her husband died when Maan's father was very young. She built the Khurana Empire herself. When they first moved to the US, they had nothing. Maan's grandparents started from scratch and brought the Khurana Empire to where it was today. They had a name in the society and the Khurana's were considered as a "brand". Anything Khurana was undoubtedly the best out there.
Khurana Constructions was not built in a day. And everyone knew about that. It was a result of Lala Amarnath Khurana, who worked day and night to bring the company where it was today. And Savitri Devi later, cashed in on the Khurana name to venture into different businesses. Maan's father was no less and he too took the companies to even greater heights.
But Maan was never interested in business. Though he knew that is what he was going to do since it was the family tradition. He wanted to sing and his dad was against it. For the past few months, Maan and his dad have not been on talking terms. Savitri Devi on the other hand, though did not approve of it at first, was talked into allowing him to go for music classes by none other than Geet.
Savitri Devi loved Geet as her own. When Geet's parents were going through the divorce and she was going through a lot of emotional turmoil, Savitri Devi took Geet into Khurana Mansion and she stayed with them till all the procedures were done with. Geet lives with her mom now, but gets to see her dad all the time. Even thought they were separated, they never let it affect Geet badly.
"Good-morning Dadimaa." Maan hugged his grandmother and gave her a small peck on the forehead.
"Good-morning to you as well Darling. I hear we have Geet with us. How I miss that nut case around here. Waking up every day to the screaming of you both. I wish she would come and live with us again." Savitri Devi sighed as she finished.
"Live with us so that you can see your grandson dead one fine morning?" Maan mocked and continued, "Plus you say this every time you see her here, and she has been living with her mom since eons."
"Oh shut up Maan. You really are intolerable. One cannot blame Geet." Dadimaa chuckled.
"WORD!" Geet screeched and ran to hug her favorite Khurana of the lot. Geet adored Dadimaa. Never having the chance to meet any of her grandparents, she always loved Savitri Devi as her own Dadimaa.
Looking at Maan, Geet said, "See now Maan, I am not the only one who cannot tolerate you. Your own Dadi can't stand you."
"Women!" Maan muttered and left before he became their laughing stock. When Dadimaa and Geet were together, it was always best for the third person in the room to buzz off.
Maan decided to take a shower since he wasn't sleepy anymore. After a nice refreshing bath, he called Yash to talk to him about Stanford and what his thoughts on the relationship matter. The boys decided to meet up at Central Park for a late morning jog.
Leaving Geet with Dadimaa, Maan headed for Central Park to meet up with Yash. It was sunny outside and his convertible was the perfect ride to enjoy such fine weather. Even though the weather was nice outside, the New York traffic was always a buzz kill. Maan hated waiting in the traffic and many a times he got a ticket for breaking traffic laws. Today he would wait for the signal to turn green since he didn't want to get into any trouble which would stop him from meeting Yash. Talking to Yash was very important now. The situation was delicate and needed to be handled smoothly. Seeing Geet's breakdown last night, came as a shock to him. He never thought a year long relationship would put Geet in circumstances where she would go weak. Geet has always been a strong person, and there were not many memories he had of Geet breaking down. The only she did majorly breakdown was when her parents separated and Geet went into depression. Then one day Maan's Dadimaa brought Geet to their home and slowly she recovered.
Seeing Yash wait for him, Maan walked upto Yash and hugged him.
"Dude seriously, I should be angry with you that you did not tell me about Stanford before you told Geet, but I will let it pass since it is so AWESOME! Congrats man." Maan hugged Yash again and Yash gave a wide grin in return.
"Sorry dude, but it was just that after I got my acceptance letter I was so worried about disclosing the news to Geet that it slipped my mind that I had to tell you. And when I told her, she seemed so happy, man I swear I was so darn relieved." Yash sighed after finishing.
Seeing Yash so happy, even Maan didn't have the heart to tell him the truth. Stanford was his dream school and Yash always knew what he wanted. Yash was focused unlike Maan. Maan knew he would end up handling the Khurana Empire one day, but his heart was always into music. His family was against it, and his heart was into it. The only person who truly did understand his passion was Geet. Geet held his hand while he used to walk to his music classes. No one at home knew, he enrolled into music classes on his own, and later when Yash found about it, he made fun of Maan. But then one fine day when Yash finally heard Maan singing, he supported Maan. Too bad his own parents couldn't see the passion inside him.
After jogging for about half an hour silently, Maan spoke up, "So what about you and Geet?"
"What about us?" Yash asked him in return, confusion clearly visible on his face.
"You know long distance and all" said Maan.
"Well to tell you the truth, I haven't really thought about it you know. Geet and I are in love, and if it is strong enough, we'll pull it through. Plus we are still so young, nobody knows what's gonna happen right? Maybe today we can't live without each other, but tomorrow, you never know right? But I am gonna try my level best to keep this relationship, I don't want to lose Geet." Yash said with hopeful eyes.
Seeing this Maan decided to keep quiet on this. Putting a hand on Yash's shoulder he gave an assurance nod, though inside he wasn't so sure. He loved both Yash and Geet and wanted what was best for them both.
"I am sure everything's gonna be fine and whatever is gonna happen, will be for the better." He finished with a smile and continued, "Let's get some breakfast, Nakul was making pancakes when I left and since Geet was there, I am sure she made her special waffles." Maan finished.
Both of them later drove back to the Khurana Mansion and Maan was right. Geet did make her special waffles and Dadimaa was already enjoying having them while laughing at something Geet said. Maan could see the sparkle in Geet's eyes as soon as she saw Yash. She ran into his arms and gave him a squashing hug as if letting all her fears out in that hug. Maan smiled to himself, seeing Geet so in love. He never looked for love, and did not want to as well, but seeing Geet and Yash he wondered what being in love really felt like.
Geet took an early leave for a meeting with the caterers for her graduation party. But all three of them decided to go shopping together for Geet's party. Of course, the boys were not very excited, but Geet would drag them anyhow.
The Upper East Siders shopped in style. By the end of the day both Yash and Maan were carrying a dozen bags each. Maan wanted to cry in despair, while Yash put up an excited expression since he didn't want to be a bad boyfriend who ruined his girlfriend's day by being a spoil sport. Maan on the other hand kept on complaining the entire day. Even though Geet had got him a T-shirt from Burberry, just to shut him up, but Maan never stopped. The entire time he carried the bags, he cursed Geet of being inconsiderate and he would either not show up for her party or would show up without the Cavalli dress he promised he would get her. But as usual Geet did not pay any attention to Maan nor his words.
Later that day, they all decided to have dinner at Yash's place. According to Maan, Yash's mom made the world's best Indian food and whenever he wanted to try Indian, he went to Yash's house, rather than going to any Indian restaurant. His Dadimaa sometimes cooked and those days Maan would make up excuses and say he was staying over at Yash's places. Dadimaa's cooking skills went down over the years when she had stayed out of practice and was busy handling the Khurana business.
Yash's parents loved both Maan and Geet and were happy to see Yash and Geet together. They have seen Geet grow up and had always loved her, and when Geet needed them while her parents were going through the divorce, they had a hand on holding Geet together. Everyday they would go and meet Geet at the Khurana household, shower her with gifts and love. Yash's mother adored Geet and always said Geet was the daughter she never had.
As soon as the three of them entered through those French doors of Yash's house, the three of them were in for a surprise. Sameera, Yash's cousin from India had arrived that afternoon and was going to stay with Yash and his family for a few months. Yash adored his cousin Sameera very much; Geet liked her just because she was Yash's cousin, while Maan sort of fancied her. Ever since he first time saw Sameera 2 years back when she for the first time came to the US for a summer vacation, Maan wanted to woo her, but then she was Yash's sister and if he did anything with her, he would be breaking the "bro code."
